Since so many asked- you can stand on the benches. What gets you kicked out is chugging the whole mug at once while up on a bench doing it for show. That’s a lot of beer, I believe it’s discouraged because it would be more of a drunken mess than it already is if they allowed that.
Probably kicked out for standing and making a spectacle of himself. Maybe his buddy egging him on? Didn't want this to erupt into chaos? Who knows. But why be the center of attention? Beer Chugger: Hey look at me, I can pound this liter beer Germans: Why? You just wasted a good beer. :P
Germans are so entitled. Ever hear the stories of the German tourists saving their spots at beach/lounge chairs by placing their belongings on them hours before they intend to use them? Then getting upset if the items were moved.
My understanding is that Germans take pride in following rules so to be “cold and boring” is a compliment in so much as it means they fulfilled their duty to follow the rules. So, to them it’s not “cold and boring”, it’s normal. Which is why they think Americans are weird because we say to hello to random strangers on the street. Just a cultural difference; neither side is right or wrong.
Wtf as a german myself there is no way they kicked him out because of that
Right tf. Germans and beer are always a good combination
Yeah, getting kicked out for drinking beer at Oktoberfest?
They didn't kick him out because of the beer. They kicked him out for the peacock collar.
Just a guess - he was kicked out for STANDING on the bench, not drinking his beer.
Yea That's more likely

Probably kicked out for standing on the table, not for drinking the beer...
Standing on tables is a fundamental part of Oktoberfest.
I'm guessing because he stood on the bench
