I feel like for a thousand dollars, this should have been a multi seqeuncing puzzle, like 10+ steps for each part to come out. This seemed a little too easy for my taste. The video was great tho.
It’s the idea of overthinking the simplest solutions....that’s why you have turning knobs and a rattle to make you overthink it but I agree 1000 is too much lol
well, if you buy it you don't know you have to smack it. Could take someone a week or something to figure this out. It's all about the experience i guess.

Done a lot of your video watching recently. I realize that you have been on here for a hot minute but I only recently came across your channel (was recommended while I was in a black hole of Derren Brown videos) But, ever since the first one I watched (reacting to cardistry) I've been hooked! I've basically binge watched your videos for the last 3 days. I really like how real you come across. So many youtubers feel like they would be totally different if you met them in real life but with your videos, it seems that it is real life. Sorry if any of that comes off weird but.... You're awesome, good job, and by all means, please, keep on uploading!
I think part of the puzzle is having the level be so high so that your mind doesn't go directly to "oh I should hit it". Therefore the level makes you think it must be complex and therefore you start thinking too hard about the knobs. At the end of the day, though, that's one expensive puzzle that you smack to death haha
Socks, lol horseshit. You wouldn't have 300 tied up in that if you smuggled bulloak out of australia. And those are just standard comb joints, covered in polymerized tung oil. That's $100 tops with the most expensive materials.
solamisandwich05 Not That I necessarily think $1000 is a fair price, but it’s not just about materials. It’s about the craftsmanship. I would assume that this is handmade, and it’s very well made. That takes skill and time worth paying for.

I love watching these videos, they're really interesting, but I also find his voice is super soothing and have fallen asleep twice watching these videos.
It seems that at least a half of the craftmanship, a half of the price, goes not just to look so solid and well build, but to make it fall apart in so sexy and spectacular way. You hit it - and it not just “opens”, its front and dial not just “unlock”, they literally perform like a tiny explosion.
Box puzzles, cast puzzles are so awesome. When you went to the Buck twins office they’re decor and secret bookcase room really blow my mind. That’s is exactly what I’d love to have in a study, if I had the money 💰. Card magic, coin magic, puzzles, are so eloquent!!
It’s essentially a comb joint with a fillet edge. It now makes me curious what a dovetail joint on a fillet edge would look like, pretty I expect. I need a gf...
My father has this puzzle too bro.....I spent about 5 hours trying to open it. I ended up opening it just by chance lol....I didn't get the idea from the name bad radio lol. So cool that you did that. Amazing. Great puzzle.
Seems like a valuable lesson for life. Never underestimate the value of simple solutions. Also smack things if they don't work. That's also a good lesson.
I love watching your videos, but I only watch the ones you upload with the expensive puzzles! I don't want to ruin the solutions for the puzzles I can afford, so I watch the solutions for the ones I wish I could afford, haha!
8:12 Smack! Level 7 in 1 hour 45 min meanwhile Level 10 he finishes in 30-60 min can somewhat help justify the cost. Plus 4 million plus views on a single vid more than pays for the G unit. Good Job! 👍🏻
Well, if they say it's a puzzle, the first thing everyone will do is try to solve it normally. Like what he did in the video. Turning the dials, trying to find some sort of combination to open it. It also has a "marble" inside so people would think there's something hidden inside. And when they get frustrated, the last thing they would do is hit it really hard out of frustration, only to realize that they bought a $1000 puzzle and the only way to open it is to hit it really hard. And yes, that is what most people do if their radios are bad or screwing up.
How is it a level 7 though if the answer is literally just smacking it? People have commented that it's clever because you would never expect that you need to smack something that's $1000 dollars, but that doesen't make the answer any less stupid or simple.
Owner: no one will ever know *puts life savings in box* Guest: *bumps into box knocking it off the shelf* Money everywhere And that’s how Timmy died Don’t buy this box
Love these videos but the problem I have with some of them is the internal mechanics are not always shown or explained. So the box opens when you hit the top... You showed the latch on the door, but how does it disengage when the top of the box is hit?
From the looks of it, the percussive force of smacking the top causes the spring-mounted rod inside to bounce upwards and hit a release latch on the roof of the enclosure. Then the parts pop out via little springs on the wall behind them. It's ingeniously simple.
I'm not sure if you're trying to be serious or funny. I don't think the spring mounted rod has any functional purpose. It's a red herring and adds to the "broken" theme when it makes noise. There's no way it will fly up and hit the latch when the radio is smacked while sitting flat on a surface.
Nick P I assume the latch isn’t super solid so just the force of hitting it is enough to disengage it. You can sort of tell because he has to hit it with a decent amount of force to pop it open compared to when he just slaps the side. I think the spring is either for noise or so that the latch has a bit of pressure on it to help disengage it.
It’s an inertia switch. When you hit it, the force and is transmitted through the whole structure. The brass piece then has enough inertia to compress the spring and fall free from the catch.
Can't hide money! A grand for a puzzle? I'll sell you a puzzle for half that. Send me $500.00 and puzzle out how I made it disappear! Great vid Chris! #RAMFAM
Even cooler than you think. Bad radios sometimes have knobs that dont work, as in this case the tension difference was a ruse and they actually did nothing. Awesome
$100 for that would be pushing it. And level 7? Set it down too hard on the top and it might pop open. It looks like good craftsmanship sure, but $1000 is ridiculous.
but is the music coming out of the radio or was it added later in post-production? It would be cool if it was coming out of the radio once you break it!
I wish my alarm clock did that. The second you hit it and it popped out, I laughed. Thats so entertaining. If it weren't so expensive, i would totally get it
You think I could return it tho? loll jkjk 10/10 would smash again.

I wonder how many other people that are into woodworking like me yelled at the screen that those are not dovetails
What r they called 😂
It’s essentially a comb joint with a fillet edge. It now makes me curious what a dovetail joint on a fillet edge would look like, pretty I expect. I need a gf...
Thank you
I definitely yelled and immediately looked for a comment like yours Brad!
I'm pretty sure those are dovetails, but I guess I'm wrong
So cool. My 7 yr old and I love watching your puzzle videos. Great stuff.
This is really cool, and the thought process too is amazing. Everything matters even the name. I wish I could give you a double like for this. 👍
I love the fact that it rattled. Resembled a real broken radio. If you pick up your radio and somethings rattling something broken lol I love this!
“There doesn’t **seam** to be....”
nice
Ohhh I get it you are supposed to hit it like they did in the old days to get it working
but he just broke it into pieces XD
Cathie Repik *pieces
it summ3r mi brane dunt Want tu wark :)
t@nk u,
I love this channel sm
My father has this puzzle too bro.....I spent about 5 hours trying to open it. I ended up opening it just by chance lol....I didn't get the idea from the name bad radio lol. So cool that you did that. Amazing. Great puzzle.
Seems like a valuable lesson for life. Never underestimate the value of simple solutions.
Also smack things if they don't work. That's also a good lesson.
I subscribed!! But please do a puzzle live so that we can watch and help!!
When someone pay this much for a simple puzzle, you know they’re dedicated
Chris, attempt the goose noose puzzle from art of play!!
Good Job! 👍🏻
So its a level 7, and costs 1000 dollars, and the way to solve it is by hitting it.... that's ridiculous
Imagine how annoyed you'd be if you discovered the solution by accidentally dropping the puzzle while unwrapping it
I will agree that I think the real scam is calling this a level 7 because there is no way it should be marked as that difficulty.
1314zerosktr is the first thing that you think of to solve a puzzle to hit it?
Electronics repair 101- When in doubt bang and shout
When you realize you spent $1000 on a wooden box that opens by hitting it. Only Metz
Fabulously simple when you figure it out!
This put a smile on my face!
5:30 I CRIED LMAOO
Owner: no one will ever know *puts life savings in box*
Guest: *bumps into box knocking it off the shelf*
Money everywhere
And that’s how Timmy died
Don’t buy this box
Dude spent a whole rack to learn that you can Fonzy anything 🤷
National Bard AYYYYYYYE 😂
ive not heard that term for a while. happy days! (maybe there should be a signed photo of fonzy doing a thumbs up on the inside to add value)
Simple yet complicated. I love it
I did not expect that! Awesome!!!
"What do you do when a bad radio stops working?"
*B A M*
You could hide money or something in there and then only you know how to open it that is so cooooool! 😀
Well, him and everyone that owns one, will ever get one, or has seen this video or any other video anyone else has ever made about it.
Wicked sense of humour from the puzzle maker. I enjoyed your Eureka moment, and Sherlock Holmes deduction.
ok i just found your channel and i'm already addicted
When you punched that thing open it made me laugh so hard and I rewatched the part like 20 times and couldn't stop laughing
Can you make a vid on how your pass looks now? By the way i love your videos!!
Can't hide money! A grand for a puzzle? I'll sell you a puzzle for half that. Send me $500.00 and puzzle out how I made it disappear!
Great vid Chris! #RAMFAM
Big Nasty oh yeah I'm sure it's legit
Geez !! who would've have thought ..lmbo. Good video I enjoyed it.
Agree
No fucking way is this a lvl 7
I would be so mad if i paid $1000 for a puzzle that i just had to smack
It doesn't help that the materials probably cost like $25 at most.
Yeah but i think you never would smash it
But still it could carry your keys and nobody other than you would know how to get them
yeah but he gets ad revenue to pay for it
If I paid 1000$ for this thing, I would be really dissapointed...😅
Ralf Schmidt
Don’t feel bad. Your parents wait 9 months just for you just to be a disappointment.
it’s a joke btw
fijifeels sure its a joke, you probably just regret typing it........
greenjoe420 I don’t.
fijifeels i don't regret most things i type either, unless i have shit grammar.
i get it, if you have a bad radio signal you always try smacking it! thats so clever! coolest puzzle ive seen so far and clever name
I used to buy all those Magic sets in the 90s and this was one of the sets. It was super cool to use at school when I was a kid.
STAND BACK I GOT A PEN!
Everyone: *laughs*
IM NOT JOKING
*shoots someone in the head with gun pen* IM NOT PLAING AROUND
AnimeFan 21 lol 😂😂😂
Imma be real with you chief, that was pretty dumb.
awful joke
8:12 I laughed so hard!
but is the music coming out of the radio or was it added later in post-production? It would be cool if it was coming out of the radio once you break it!
I wish my alarm clock did that. The second you hit it and it popped out, I laughed. Thats so entertaining. If it weren't so expensive, i would totally get it
I randomly seen this video on my requested to watch and can’t stop watching these vids
