      My reaction too. Though less like a kid at Christmas and more like a kid at uni on their first week, marvelling at the amount of sex and alcohol seemingly on offer. By that I mean "Gimme more, asap!" with a tongue hanging out in a drunken, dog-like way.
      Had seen a few vids of Chris recently (probably imprinted via the UA-cam suggestion algorithm from watching more and more), and this one finally made me subscribe. Which is quite a feat, considering I only subscribe to 23 channels maximum at a time! (What can I say? The shitty Jim Carrey film stuck with me...)

      He did not make a thousand dollars on this video. I have another channel with a video at over 6.5M views, and I barely made a thousand dollars on that. That's just not how UA-cam works, especially not nowadays. The way you make money is by having hundreds, or thousands, of videos that earn you a little bit every day. And brand deals, and sponsorships. Ad revenue is for the most part a joke.

    • @austins.7468
      @austins.7468 6 років тому +11

      Mythricia what is the other channel called?

    • @Goomba18
      @Goomba18 6 років тому +7

      Ad revenue is heavily dependant on the viewer demographic. A young target audience might generate you up to 30x the revenue per view of the older population.

    • @Mythricia1988
      @Mythricia1988 6 років тому +12

      That's not really very true. The ads served are largely the same. The main demographics for the video I'm referencing is the 13-17 and the 18-24 brackets. Truth is, ad revenue is abysmal, and has been for a while now. Which is why in-video ad spots, sponsored videos, and brand deals are now becoming so common - because it's the only way to stay alive if UA-cam is your livelihood. Diversifying your income streams is by far the biggest deal for basically all YT creators now, huge and small alike.

  • @AMAZINGRC

    This is my favorite video now that you have..!! The creation of this puzzle goes super deep..! Like the playing card in the tree (now you see me) this was created to play on the fact that this would not be the first puzzle that you purchase due to the high price tag.. With that said, the creator knew that the solver would be looking for some elaborate sequence to solve the puzzle.. How long will the solver go on their intuition before realizing that you just need to hammer down to win..! Then I looked at the construction of the box, and it looks to be designed to be hit..! I hate the fact that it's 1000$, but that's an integral part to the puzzle..! LOVE IT..!! Thank You..!

      +Myles, I don't think it's real vintage. It looks vintage but my guess is it isn't that old. The price will be the fact those puzzles are made in only very small quantities by craftwork and of some expensive wood (like teak). It is a few years old now but not one of a kind (more like 1 of 1000).

    This puzzle seems more like a troll because it makes you think it has some complicated way to open it. I could make a wooden box that is hollow and say it is the chopping block puzzle. How do you open it you ask? The hint is in the name. You chop it open because it was completely sealed.

I've basically binge watched your videos for the last 3 days. I really like how real you come across. So many youtubers feel like they would be totally different if you met them in real life but with your videos, it seems that it is real life. Sorry if any of that comes off weird but.... You're awesome, good job, and by all means, please, keep on uploading!

      I think part of the puzzle is having the level be so high so that your mind doesn't go directly to "oh I should hit it". Therefore the level makes you think it must be complex and therefore you start thinking too hard about the knobs. At the end of the day, though, that's one expensive puzzle that you smack to death haha

    It seems that at least a half of the craftmanship, a half of the price, goes not just to look so solid and well build, but to make it fall apart in so sexy and spectacular way. You hit it - and it not just “opens”, its front and dial not just “unlock”, they literally perform like a tiny explosion.

    So its a level 7, and costs 1000 dollars, and the way to solve it is by hitting it.... that's ridiculous

    • @airi2857
      @airi2857 6 років тому +5

      Well, if they say it's a puzzle, the first thing everyone will do is try to solve it normally. Like what he did in the video. Turning the dials, trying to find some sort of combination to open it. It also has a "marble" inside so people would think there's something hidden inside. And when they get frustrated, the last thing they would do is hit it really hard out of frustration, only to realize that they bought a $1000 puzzle and the only way to open it is to hit it really hard. And yes, that is what most people do if their radios are bad or screwing up.

    • @jazzwell
      @jazzwell 6 років тому +7

      How is it a level 7 though if the answer is literally just smacking it? People have commented that it's clever because you would never expect that you need to smack something that's $1000 dollars, but that doesen't make the answer any less stupid or simple.

    Love these videos but the problem I have with some of them is the internal mechanics are not always shown or explained. So the box opens when you hit the top... You showed the latch on the door, but how does it disengage when the top of the box is hit?

    • @episodenull
      @episodenull 6 років тому +2

      From the looks of it, the percussive force of smacking the top causes the spring-mounted rod inside to bounce upwards and hit a release latch on the roof of the enclosure. Then the parts pop out via little springs on the wall behind them.
      It's ingeniously simple.

    • @Samuel-km5yf
      @Samuel-km5yf 6 років тому +3

      I'm not sure if you're trying to be serious or funny. I don't think the spring mounted rod has any functional purpose. It's a red herring and adds to the "broken" theme when it makes noise. There's no way it will fly up and hit the latch when the radio is smacked while sitting flat on a surface.

    • @fatgorillaboyee1350
      @fatgorillaboyee1350 6 років тому +1

      Nick P I assume the latch isn’t super solid so just the force of hitting it is enough to disengage it. You can sort of tell because he has to hit it with a decent amount of force to pop it open compared to when he just slaps the side. I think the spring is either for noise or so that the latch has a bit of pressure on it to help disengage it.

    • @Leonarco333
      @Leonarco333 6 років тому +1

      It’s an inertia switch. When you hit it, the force and is transmitted through the whole structure. The brass piece then has enough inertia to compress the spring and fall free from the catch.
