Might be weird but I was liking this tank years ago when I was grinding it, sure it's not a T29 or something but this tank was always mobile and has nice gun.
This tank is amazing. Last night I absolutely abused an STA-1 and a Rhm. -Borsig WT with it on Lakeville in the valley. Up close against the STA I was able to pick him apart with standard shells if he held still for even a second. Against the WT, I could snap shot so quickly that I was able to bait a shot out of him then peek and pop. This tank is capable of massive games now.
I play arty a lot and the hardest shot for arty is if your tank is on the back slope of a hill. The only target he has is the front of your tank and that's the strongest and smallest part. I usually target other tanks if they're lit rather than try to hit one on a back slope. I hope this helps you guys!
Used hull down, it was already a good hidden gem with the 300 alpha gun. I kept it, but didn't play it for a long while. I will remove the dust on it soon I guess !
But the 105 mm gun has a lot less penetration. The regular shell is under 200 mm and it will fight heavies in the tiers 8 & 9. Even the golden shells are only marginally better, in terms of penetration, than the regular shells of the 90 mm gun. And if you cannot penetrate the armour, no damage is done. Beside that, the 105 mm gun is less accurate.
@@caniconcananas7687 Of course, it has flaws. But I still prefer it over the long 90mm gun. DPM wise, it's more higher (if it pens, of course !). With standard shells, DPM is 12% higher. With gold shells, it's 23% higher. In the end, it depends on the playstyle of the player I guess.
@@caniconcananas7687 I also use the 105 mm. It depends on the player. if you're free to play and dont wanna spam gold, use 90 mm. If you got credits to spend, then use 105 mm with gold. it's got 223 pen for 330 alpha, that's pretty good! Also has better dpm. If you can pen standard rounds with 90 mm, you can pen with 105 mm gold. Also if you prefer slightly better gun handling stats, then use the 90 mm. The guns will dictate your playstyle, 105 mm for brawling and close range, 90 mm more for longer distance shots.
That Comet driver at the end, lol. keep reversing into the tank behind and blame him for blocking you, even when they are reversing as fast as they can. Hmmm.
The tank was good for a couple of days after the patch because nobody knew where to shoot. Now players realise how weak the turret roof and tanks sides are (40mm) its OK not great.
@@alanwatts8239 I am not talking about the 105mm gun, but the other 90mm gun. The one with 170mm of penetration, rather than 165, which I previously stated
They made some small incremental changes to the tank. It's not as awful as it was but its still not good... The gun is ok. The armor is still mostly paper... The only time this tank is good is when its top Tier imho.....
Tighter dispersion on the smaller gun as well. You only give up 200 dpm to have the longer PP but you gain shell velocity, a huge amount of penetration (175-->212) on standard shells, you gain on the APCR (229-->259) as well turning you into a toothy sniper if you face Tier 9. Literally all you gain to go bigger PP is 200dpm and a happier wife.
@@OTOss8 Well, you know that the premium round has 30 more alpha than the standard round on the 105mm? That gives you about 400 more dpm than on 90mm gun. Add proper equipment to the tank and the dpm disparity grows even further. You get both more dpm and way better alpha with the big gun, and second best alpha for a tier 7 heavy. The 105 was the only thing that made the amx a good tank if you knew what you were doing before the buff. The 90 mm is a good gun, but the 105 mm is godlike.
@@OTOss8 The tank gains 400 DPM with the 105. He has shown it before in prior replays. The 105 is among the most broken guns in the entire game, which is the same on ARLV which he also has shown before. While the accuracy, pen, aim-time, shell velocity are better, 105 turret traverse bloom is better allowing for quicker focus when you aren't moving. The alpha difference is also huge, 330 VS 240 makes huge sense for trading, as well as 105 bore size allowing for more over matches
@@demetrioshristovski4518 Going up against same tier or lower then the 105mm certainly makes some sense if you don't care about making credits and/or don't mind losing a stack of credits. 3,745 credits more per shot isn't insignificant. Let's say, because you're reloading about a second faster with the 90mm, you're firing 2 of its AP to the 1 105mm APCR, you're still paying 3490 per shot more. If you win the match you'll probably break even or make a modest profit but if you lose the match you're going to take a fairly big hit. I don't think it's the better choice when you're +1MM or +2. Like you say, the turret traverse bloom is lower when you aren't moving but there's a good chance you'll have to move to get an opportunity to trade which potentially negates that advantage. Add to that, you're starting at a much higher dispersion of 0.39 vs 0.35 and I wonder how much of an advantage it has in real terms. Stack the slower aim time on top, (.19 seconds extra) and even more of that advantage is eaten up. There's more but these are the two things you mentioned as being advantageous. I think, all things considered, saying it's among the most broken guns in the game is a bit optimistic. I think it's a better gun under a very specific set of circumstances but across more game scenarios and facing higher tier tanks the 90mm DCA 45 is a more flexible, profitable and useful gun past 75 metres.
Dear Skill, this Tank still has a shitty turret. I payed about 50 games and many tier 7 + 8 penetrated me frontally with apcr. This tank can not be played like t29. You made me grind a shitty line :( The gun has great pen but that is about it.
every skills video "This time we load full gold" tbh at this point , its not even penetration why people use gold. but shell velocity to be able to hit light tanks easier lol
Sounds like my experience... anything played above tier 7 all I get shot with has a gold background on the shell type, it's so annoying when you want to play with tanks with armor ( but lower mobility / dpm .... ) you can't because it's useless. And the sad part is when I'm switching to lights and they still only shoot gold, the whole game the whole day. But, trust me, only 5% of ammo shot is gold
@@MarvinWestmaas That's the point though it's not relevant anymore, it's just an old meme, and of course there are no more recent quotes, WG marketing aren't that stupid.
@@tankicat I guess I'm to old then, having gone back to playing the game just recently it really still bothers me. Not in my Maus, I get that. But a Tiger II? WZ-111 1-4? What's the point of angling and/or hiding your lower plate if every single shot which hits me either has crazy high apcr pen or sizzles and pen's regardless of angle. I'm not complaining, I know it's the game we have so I can accept it. But it felt a bit like you wanted to claim it got better since that old quote which it obviously hasn't. Guess that's why I want the wz 5a though, mobility and gun is more important as armor.
He's overhyping it. It was bad, now it's half decent. Why is it still half decent? Well, only the turret got somewhat OK, hull armor is still bad and 240 damage is bad for a heavy tank.

Even with standard ammunition the 105 is the best gun. Nothing beat alpha and the gold round make him dangerous to even tier 8 tanks.
