- Here's an excerpt of a samba version of "Some Of These Days" from a concert in Princeton, NJ with Danny Tobias (trumpet, leader), Pat Mercuri (guitar) and Earl Sauls (bass). Danny played a lot with Tony DeNicola, one of my favorite drummers and hopefully the subject of a future video.

Lovely! And wearing the socks prescribed by Dr. Jones!
The best drummer I know!
Wow, trumpet player sounds like Jon Kellso or Ruby Braff! Awesome!
It's easy to see and hear you LOVE your job Kevin - wonderful
Kool Kevin !! Thank you for posting
Samba Deez Days!
A swamba! (swung samba xD) So gentle and consistent, I love it, your playing coupled with that guitar and bass is sooooooo good!
This music performance has such a nice vibe. Screams of summer for me. Very tasteful playing, Kevin!
Great playing gentleman and such lovely taste on drums Kevin
Great playing! I'd love you to do some more instructional videos. How to play this samba pattern on brushes would be an excellent subject!
Thanks! I hope to do more instructional videos soon and I will try to do one on this pattern.
The basic sticking is RLLRRLLR/LRLRRLLR.
After I saw you perform during your recent tour in Europe, I imagined you drumming your rythm even on a small matchbox, just like Gene did in the movie "Ball of fire" :)
Thanks, I love that scene in "Ball of Fire!" Hope you enjoyed the concert :)
@@kevindorn Love Gene, even when he gets “angry” :) Ohh your concert…it was pure magic! ♡
@@caterinaveronica_ Gene Krupa was the greatest! He was my first influence and remains one of my favorite drummers. I continue to learn from him all the time.
Glad you enjoyed the concert! We had a great time on the tour and we hope to be able to do it again soon.
@@kevindorn Oh this is so interesting! I owe my passion for Gene Krupa to my grandfather, who used to make me listen to his vinyls, so it also has sentimental value for me. Maybe you also had a similar approach to his music...I see a lot of Krupa in you!
