Love the tutorial! How long does this last? The oil wouldn’t turn the fragrance over time?
I usually say keep it until the expiration date of the oil to be safe. But I’ve had some a year and a half that does fine.
Usually it gets used up before the expiration date of the oil anyway though.
Can you please tell me what the measurements of oil, wax, and fragrance oil would be for just 1 of the 8oz containers please? Also will the measurements be the same for any fragrance/color ect. that we choose to make or is it specifically for this fragrance in the video? Thank you so much!
To get the measurements for 1 8oz container for the plain melt just take each and divide it by 5! (Yes the numbers will be a little wonky).
I usually do these in batches because if split in half it doesn’t split equally and if I do just one it is a lot of work for a single scoop melt.
Yes the measurements would be the same for all fragrances and colors. I will note that I have had some fragrances that needed to be cut back but it’s been like 1 in 40 that have needed it.

HI. I'm not understanding the use of the vegetable oil. I guess it just went over my head because I have never seen this before. So are you using the cooking oil in place of or as a stand in for wax? Meaning, instead of mixing two different waxes you are using one wax and the oil makes up for the 2nd wax? Or is there another reason? Economical, money saving, etc.? Can vegetable oil be used with paraffin wax, or is your mixture just specific to what you're doing here within the video?
Hi there! So vegetable oil can be substituted for another oil, like mineral oil (or avocado, coconut etc), but it is to soften the wax to make it easy to scoop with a spoon. Scoopsble wax is a lot softer of a texture so paraffin may not yield the same results which is why I use soy for this instead. It is also best to use a soy container wax. (But I will also add that experimenting is the best way to learn! So, if you prefer paraffin, test it out and see how it goes! So long as something isn’t dangerous try it!) However I will say if it is summer and you live in a hot climate like I do adding just a little paraffin or using a little soy tart wax will stop any separation that may occur due to heat. Another option to combat the separation in warmer climates would be to use less vegetable oil so it is still soft enough to scoop. (I had an issue when we had 110° temperatures and though my workspace is temperature controlled, in these temps my scoopsble wax did not set correctly).

I was just getting ready to start my very first batch ever (earlier today) with a mix of par and soy and was searching for a ratio for the two. I know I will run out of soy soon because I'm on a budget, so I saw this and wondered could I swap the soy for the veg oil for a little bit of time, until I start to turn a profit (making regular wax melts). For the actual scoopable wax it would be too hard. You’d have to add more oil and play around with the recipe to make it work.
