A tough cut mower would work better in that situation. Sounds like you need to upgrade your tractor to a Ventrac as well. They handle that mower much better, both physically and power as well. The flail takes a lot of power.
If I had the money I would upgrade to a newer machine that this deck was designed for. I made this video just to show it can be done with an older machine. For the price I can live with the slower speed. I Don't have much work for this machine at the moment. I like the finish better on the flail and I had it pretty low. I have cut much taller and thicker material now and have learned that setting it even a half inch higher can make a ton of difference in cut speed.
I've enjoyed watching you cutting with that combination. Flail mowers are lots of fun and to use one with a Steiner makes it even more fun. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. I tried to keep the video interesting and not too long and boring. I am going to be doing more mowing with it today.
What engine is on the Steiner?

Nice mower
mower too small, cutter too large
I can still operate on very steep terrain and very soft terrain. Not for someone that can't operate well, a newer machine would be better.
Terms too wrong...
Looks to me like it's working fine for his application.
