    Before that I upgraded to captain on the saab 340 at 23. And began as a first officer at 21.
    I Recently began as first officer at a major US airline.. it’s great to see more of us younger guys and gals succeeding. While most where out partying or enjoying their teens, we where studying and oriented to what we wanted to do, which was fly.

      Frfr lol aint no way a 16-18 yo saves up that much. Obviously fully funded by parents or family members... nothing wrong with that but he definitely wasn't transparent regarding his funding.

    • @harric9864
      @harric9864 Місяць тому +1

    • @Weaselszone
      @Weaselszone 17 днів тому +3

      I'm starting next my piloting course in a bit after finishing college earlier this year. The reality is that you can only afford it based on your parents at this age. £120,000 is quite on the cheap side, though. It's about £140,000~£150,000 now, unfortunately.

    • @boris495
      @boris495 13 днів тому +1

      Well he obviously avoided the part that 90% of people want to know lol, he said he worked 6 months to save money? It's literally impossible to save around 100k at his age, he obviously got funded by his family which is okay but to me, not being honest and transaparent about it is a red flag or at very least he doesn't feel confortable mentioning it.
      I'm sorry but is very different to meet a pilot that made it from zero with almost no help of anybody than a pilot that got turbo funded by his parents, you will quickly see the difference of mind.
      Still Oli shows real dedication, ambition and many positive traits which is amazing but he has been lucky when it comes to get his funding, that's what stops most of aspiring pilots. He doesn't realize that working a normal job, office, cabin crew or whatever will require years and years of savings to pay the flight school.

    I have been interested in aviation for a while, and one of my friends always questioned why I never outright said I wanted to be a pilot.
    My main reason being that I know it is a lot of effort, and costs a lot, and I have never been too sure on where to start. I don't have an exact career path, but just have an interest in computers and aviation, and could go either way, but a job within IT has been the more realistic goal. This video has inspired me to pursue more aviation based careers, even if it just helps me become a private pilot.

Everything I was feeling from taxi from the flight school to the moment the ground started to disappear from the corner of my eyes… everything I was feeling in those few minutes took me about 2 hours to explain to my very loving new love 🖤 that feeling is the most exhilarating moment of my life… not many things come close to pulling the nose up of any airplane and taking to the air. Did my exams during covid too, all 14 of them, for the most part it was okay doing it via zoom meetings however subjects like flight planning and performance we a bit troublesome especially when the CRP5 was involved. For exams I failed a few but I wasn't taking them too seriously at the start and so it took a year and 4 months. By the end I was passing with 90%+ in the exams even doing Rnav, AGK and instruments in 12 minutes, 8 minutes and 6 minutes respectively. You learn a lot about yourself when doing the exams, the highs and lows and the strugglebus. Now I'm in Ireland finishing the flying portion but I have only a year left validity on the exams. It was great to see how many different people were doing the exams and how people helped eachother during the studying. I was one of the youngest in the class at the time being 21 when starting the exams, the oldest we had I believer was a 65 year old.

    hey oli im really confused so To become a commercial pilot, is it necessary to first obtain a Private Pilot License (PPL) and progress step-by-step, or are there alternative programs, such as a 24-month integrated course, that allow you to earn a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) directly reall looking for your help

    • @PilotOli
      @PilotOli  19 днів тому +1

      That’s exactly right. So you can do your PPL first, build your hours and do it all yourself. There are also integrated courses (which is what I did) which take you from no experience to airline ready

    How did you pay for the training? I am currently a student pilot (PPL 21 hours) working as a ground handler at Heathrow, and slowly saving us with the intention of doing modular pay as u go and using bristol ground school for ATPL etc. but I dont understand where all these pilots get 100 grand for cos yes they (save up for abit) but i cant understand how anyone saves 100 grand in a year or so. I cant get my parents to remorgage the house either, and loans are looking unlikely

      I was able to pay for ATP flight school via a Loan, they gave me $128,000. The program is $103,000 but I requested extra for DPE’s/Exams and monthly expenses. Even though it’s a high cost, It GREATLY pays off. I plan to have it paid off in 6 years even though it’s a 15 year loan. Most ATP graduates pay off their loan sooner, I just say 6 years to stay on the safe side of things.

      @@Pilot_Ty but how do u get a loan like that? Did u put a property down cos otherwise how does the bank knows they will get their money back if u can't pay it

    • @Pilot_Ty
      @Pilot_Ty Рік тому

      @@captain_r0g3r58 I did not put property down nor did I have a co-signer! I believe they only took my credit score and approved me based of that alone. When I applied I only had a job that made about $37k annually or about $18 an hour. My credit score at the time of application was 770. It was through Sallie Mae. I won’t assume full payments until 17 months after graduation from ATP.

    I have one question, if you finish at a normal school can you just go straight to flight school at the age of 18 or do you need to go to those Air cadets schools? I’m 14 and I just wanna fly an A350 for Delta, but I’m not sure if I can just go to flight school after graduating from normal schools.
