People in this comment section need to learn the difference between religion, culture and tradition, sometimes they intermingle, but are most often separate from each other, one will different traditions in different Islamic texts, one will find different traditions from Muslims who hails from different parts of the world, Cape Town has it's traditions, just like Durban has it's traditions, just like the Sudanese, Moroccans, Turks, Iranians, Saudis. Sometimes Local customs and cultural traditions/dress/food come in conflict with religious traditions. But so is the way of the world.
Islam is a pragmatic faith. The young boys and girls should be taught martial tactical intelligence training: Archery, firearms, horse riding, tactical driving, scout service, K9 herding and protection. In Islam we physically face the enemy who has destroyed the poor and oppressed.
Well I do not know where and when, though I would suggest to go to the Masjid's to find out who does this. Unfortunately I am in JHB and I do not think that there would be alot of this happening at this point in time due to the pandemic.
This is the highest form of bidah this is no where in islam this was never practiced by prophet Muhammad pbuh an his followers..may ALLAH guide these people on this straight part InshALLAH Ameen
This is an old Malay tradition, you cannot knock something and say its unislamic because you do not adhere or follow a specific tradition. We are not there to judge what is and is not Islamic, Allah will be the judge of what is and is not Islamic. Respect people's traditions.
shay3k so do you suggest that this tradition is part of the Islamic faith? Even though its roots are completely disassociated with what is said by the Quran and the Prophet (SAW)?. To innovate new practices and deem them as Islamic is an act of bida.
We can never know the truth an hide it traditions are not part of this deen..if we love ALLAH an his prophet then how can we believe in this crap traditions this is far away from the teachings of prophet Muhammad pbuh...
Wow so you are an expert then that it is ONLY rooted in the hindu religion? Take a trip to malaysia sister and find out MORE about traditions from other regions worldwide where people glorify the name of Allah and his prophet (pbuh) in different ways. Let's try to respect other's beliefs in how they practice Islam the way THEY were taught. We are ALL taught in different ways how Islam is practiced and who are WE to decide which method is the actual correct manner? I dare you to go to Cape Town and tell one of those Imaam's that what they have been practicing ALL these years by their ancestors from Malaysia who first brought Islam to South Africa that they have been practicing unislamic practices. YOu do also know that the Islam that was brought to South Africa were even expanded by the Turkish Ottoman's? So if this was unislamic they would have been the first to point it out.
