If you live in a place where firearms are legal and/or easy obtain, yes. I would love to own a pistol, just to teach myself how to shoot and maintain it but unfortunately I live in Germany, where law enforcement mostly has a monopoly on firearms. :(
@@lovrika8491 an open bolt gun is different from a bolt action, it is a "class" of semiauto or automatic firearms. Open bolt means that the bolt is locked at the back of the receiver and slides forward when you pull the trigger, it is much more simple then a closed bolt firearm because it does not need a firing pin. closed bolt is when the bolt slides forward and chambers a round from the magazine. Advantages of open bolt: 1) cheaper and easier to manufacture 2) round is kept in magazine which is useful for machineguns that barrels are hot and cookoff (the powder is heated up by the barrel and combusts) can occur disadvantages: 1)jolting when the bolt stops at the front of the receiver can cause inaccuracies. 2)the bolt has to travel a far distance which results in a larger delay between the trigger press and firing than an closed bolt.
And they overcomplicated everything to utter absurd. I mean, real guns have way simpler mechanisms, such as the trigger group and the operation system, contrary to abominations the engineers of this studio came up with. UPD: I know, this is intuitive in a way, but only if you're completely new to guns e.g. the average Joe and have to be taught the very fundamentals; either way, when actually dealing with guns' mechanisms, you'll have to wrap your head around it all over again with different guns. And yeah, don't show this series to a gunsmith
That's why some semi-autos are only semi auto because they don't have an auto-sear... This is why some semi auto guns can ONLY BE SEMI-AUTO, but most fully-automatics have semi-auto only models that can't be converted because they can't be converted without machining the gun so it has the proper tolerances (space, strength, heat & pressure tolerances etc.)
@@raymonddunne627 He is saying that, if you can push trigger and remain it squized in "special" way, you can brake the cycle of the operation, then u will need to manually reload, even when theres ammo inside magazine. Got it?

At 2:02 guessing how the fully automatic firing mechanism works. “Let me guess.. springs” Edit: I was wrong, and I definitely wasn’t expecting that. Always good to learn though.
I believe you should think of it more as the bolt action demonstrated, it is still manually operated, like a bolt or pump action. Lever actions are just a different way of doing the same job. Blowback is a type of gas operation used for autoloading, not even close to the same thing as lever action. Hope this helps

And you can learn all of this just by disassembling and assembling your pistols and rifles, I did, starting with my .45 1911.

I love these oldschool instuctions videos. One step at a time and builds up complexity nicely. Yet without dumbing it down.
I find it interesting that they didn't go over open-bolt full-auto firearms, since they are the simplest design and were very common at the time.

How come this old film is VASTLY more understandable than anything modern I've ever seen?
Cause it produced by the Gov, not Jeremy down the road.
Its still a lot of parts to rely on in war conditions but yet have proven to be so effective
