We saw it last week and it was very powerful. The staging is amazing. The choreography in Atlantic City scene is mind-blowing. We couldn't stop talking about it as a whole. Great job for new director at the Lincoln Center. Brava!.

Super looking forward to this show, already bought my tickets for the last preview performance. This is a favorite play of mine, but it's so dense, and very easy to blow the humor. Whether the show succeeds (like the 1983 old globe theater production, a recording of which is on youtube that you have to watch right now if you haven't seen it) or fails (like the 2017 TFNA production, or the 1998 Public theater version with John Goodman as George Antrobus) rests largely on the direction and the comic timing of the actress playing Sabina.
Curious but a bit worried to hear there's significant rewrites to the book. Hopefully it's just a change of the porter in act 2, the writing additions they made for the 2017 production were almost universally for the worse in my opinion.

You're in luck! Saw the show last week and can't stop thinking about it! Hilarious and touching (with great rewrites). Sabina is a star!! Incredibly strong all around.

A whole lot of money was spent on multiple enormous sets, costumes, puppetry and puppeteers, lights, projections plus the huge cast, all of which kind of turned a sports car of a play into a lumbering Greyhound bus. Also some serious miscasting and maybe basic misconceiving and misdirection of a 1942 play that would be hard to pull off now in the first place.
I think there are ways to make dated references (both specifics and gender roles etc.) work today but they didn't seem to really try.

saw this a week ago. One of the most tedious, dreary productions ever seen (although some absolutely great visual elements). the pace of the show was a disaster, the Mr. Antrobus did nothing but shout for two acts and then stumbled through the last act. Deathly portentous pauses in between lines. This director took a play that cries out to be played in a fast-paced, surreal manner and turned it into a bad production of Death of a Salesman. And why was the character's name pronounced "Sa-bigh-na" instead of "sa-bee-na"? When the dinosaur left the stage, it was all downhill. People left in droves.
