Bob Frese, may he rest In peace. ChicagoLand Canoe was a fantastic old school outfitter store he ran for a long, long time. I had the pleasure of spending a rather long interlude with him on the phone from here in Washington State one day when I called to ask if he had any Grumman mast step castings - a difficult item to obtain. He immediately said "yes, I do. How many do you need?" I bought two, and as he was trying to remember where in the store they were located, we had a nice friendly conversation about all the things that were once done with aluminum canoes in the great north. I could hear him shuffling and sorting through small boxes of hardware and then he finally said, "Ah, here they are." He had six, and remarked that he hadn't sold one for many years and was impressed that I was modifying Grumman canoes into sailing trimarans. I received them in two days. Great guy, he was, and well remembered in that community.

Use my 19’ Grumman Freighter with a lift and 9.9 HP Merc with Rock Hopper Prop Guard for moose hunting in Alaska. I also used Rhino Lining on the bottom of canoe.

West Marine G Flex is the best repair for Royalex

G FLEX will repair all your royalex needs. I've used it to repair a crushed probe 12 stern that cracked all the way through; a crushed bow on a mad river outrage that had an 8 inch split running up it and 12 inch cold cracks on a dagger Genesis. It's fantastic

Thanks for the info. Just picked up an old Penobscot 17 that needs some attention.
