  • Here is the brand new, very rare, STI Hex Tac 9mm 2011! I have been told that only 75 have been made so far and they might not even make anymore. This gun is so rare it is not even listed on STI's website! Big thanks to the guys down at Freedom Firearms in Las Vegas! Enjoy!

    Just bought a Marauder. Should be at my FFL/SOT in two days. Haven't been so excited about a pistol since my Sig P210-3. Thanks for giving me a pseudo-preview of what's to come!

    For the slide lock reload, you might try using your left thumb to release the slide. I have found that to be easiest and quicker than slingshot on a slide lock reload. Hope that helps.

    Love the video and I love the gun. Good stuff as always! Have you considered dropping the slide with your weak hand thumb after you insert a fresh mag (while building your grip)

      +BryceB Haven't tried that yet but I will now thanks! I think it will only be an issue in IDPA as I never go to slide stop in USPSA but I still need to come up with a new way and practice the shit out of it. Thanks for watching!

    I'm picking up one of the black Hex Tac's in a few weeks for a really good price. It'll be my first Non-CZ pistol, and I've never been more excited.

      Derek Cooley Nice brother congrats! You will love it! I actually just picked up my first CZ pistol last month. I got a CZ 75 Accu Shadow from CZ Customs. Haven’t even had a chance to shoot it yet but I am looking forward to it! Thanks for watching!

      Sin City Guns Thank you, and very good choice. The Shadow models have far superior triggers than the others - due to the fact they have no firing pin block. The only thing I'd recommend is a buffer. Some say it may cause failures, but I've never had an issue with reliability. My only mod on the STI will be an A2 barrel link to increase accuracy, and life of the barrel.

    I've got my STI Hex Tac sitting at my FFL's house. Now if only he'd get on his horse so I can get it.

    Nice pistol, but the Marauder would make more sense for competition purpose. Personally, I don't think this gun was designed for the competitive market but it sure looks nice~ Have you used the Hex for competitive shooting? If so, please elaborate. I'm torn between the Marauder and this one~ Due to the rail that they both come with, better for night shoots

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  7 років тому +1

      I have used this in 3 Gun and it is great for that in my opinion. Other than the color, hex pattern and the angle cuts on the slide this is exactly like the marauder. Both are 9mm, both are double stack, both have ambi safety, same sights, trigger, etc. I think this particular one was a special edition so I'm not sure if you can get it anymore. That said the marauder is a great gun. Personally I would go with the marauder for IDPA, the DVC Limited for USPSA or the DVC 3 Gun for 3 Gun. That DVC 3 Gun is sweeeeeet! Thanks again for watching.

    Easiest way to disassemble an STI is popping out slide stop first, then you can use a paperclip to suppress the recoil spring, hold it down, and disassemble the top end.
    It's a lot faster than disassembling a 1911 using the traditional Army way. You can probably look up on youtube and find it easily.

    In the market to get double stack 2011. Which is your favorite- Triarc vs STI vs Wilson Combat? I live in Vegas. Do you know if Freedom carries any of these guns?

    • @eddie6932
      @eddie6932 4 роки тому

      Oops for above Triarc Commander vs Staccato P vs EDC x9

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  4 роки тому

      Hey thanks for watching! Well I out of all of those I have only ever shot the STI and Wilson single stack. What I can say is, in my opinion, Wilson makes the better gun by far. I know a few people who have the EDC 9 and they LOVE it. STI’s are cool but I really don’t dig the plastic grip. I can also say that SV Infinity makes an amazing 2011 but they are very pricey and they take a long time however, Freedom is now stocking Infinities. Good luck dude!

    I got one & the bushing is so tight that I am not able to reassemble. Any advice?

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  7 років тому

      Dude that's crazy! I would just try to lube both the bushing and barrel and see if that helped. If you can get it together make sure you run like 1000 rounds through it before you take it apart again and that should loosen it up. Let me know how it goes.

  • @InfuriatedHawk

    Many instructors and military guys say you should come up with your support hand thumb to hit the slide catch, so you could try that instead of wasting time with the slingshot method.

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  7 років тому

      Hey thanks for watching! Yea I do practice to use my support hand thumb and I also practice to use my support hand over the top of the slide I just prefer to use my shooting thumb. It's much faster and more efficient for me. Gets me back on target quicker. Thanks again for watching.

    • @gadsdenjim8785
      @gadsdenjim8785 5 років тому

      InfuriatedHawk yep, that's how it was designed to be used. That's how any old 1911 guy will tell you to do it because it is so far forward like that.

      @sincityguns3460  8 років тому +1

      +Phil Anderson At first I was just sticking it in a blade tech I use for my Wilson 1911. It kinda fits but it doesn't have any retention. It's fine for a range day but you wouldn't be able to carry it or run a competition with that set up. I am actually having a custom kydex holster made for it by a local guy here in Vegas. I will let you know how it comes out when I get it. Thanks for watching!

    Just buy a $30 slide stop that's extended. Wilson, EGW, HDC, any 1911 slide stop. I don't get the problem. I put one on one of my 2011's, fit just fine.....since it's a 1911 upper.
    Lol "STI and even SVI doesn't make one"
    Unbelievable! Lmao.
    Now they're going to order one off of brownells for $30 and charge you $100
    Do people not understand 2011's use practically all the same 1911 parts except for trigger bow, mag release, mainspring housing pin/magwell pin. Mainspring houses vary as well.
    Everything else can be found in a 1911...
    Sear, disconnector, hammer, hammer strut, MSH parts, grip safety, thumb safeties, slide, barrel, slide stop, firing pin stop, firing pin, ejector, extractor....all the same

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  6 років тому +1

      Travis Ethan Hey brother thanks for watching. Actually a standard 1911 extended slide stop won't work on a 2011. On an STI or SVI 2011 the frame is thicker right behind the slide stop right were the grip starts. I actually did order an extended slide stop from Wilson for my STI and it doesn't fit. I had to file about 1mm off of it in a few different spots in order for it to fit. After filing it did fit but it will not fit out of the box.

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  6 років тому +1

      Travis Ethan Also just a side note. The slide stop goes in the "lower" frame not the "upper" like you stated. While 2011's do use the same slide and barrel as a 1911 they all use a two piece frame. STI uses a two piece frame with an upper metal portion mated with a plastic trigger guard / grip and SVI uses an all metal frame and grip. Thanks again for watching!

    is SAO good for Production??

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  7 років тому

      PE J I have never shot a SAO and or 1911 in USPSA production. I don't see why it wouldn't be ok for production. As long as your mags hold 10 you wouldn't be at a disadvantage at all.

    • @P.E.J.
      @P.E.J. 7 років тому

      In IPSC SAO is prohibited in Production, I dont know the rules for USPSA - I thought they were simular.

    • @sincityguns3460
      @sincityguns3460  7 років тому

      PE J Actually I think you are correct. 1911's can't shoot production. They have to shoot in the single stack division.

    • @P.E.J.
      @P.E.J. 7 років тому

      so IPSC and USPSA have the same rules about guns. cool.
