Paying for training has paid off for me. Investing in IA firms builds your core knowledge and relationships. I paid off my training with claims from the same IA firm in one week. And I’ve been running claims for them since. They also know I’m new and have worked with me all along the way. I honestly don’t want t work for anyone else, but I do need more volume at this point. This is a great job, just takes some investment.
If you do not mind me asking, where did you get your training from? Please and thank you.

There are trucking companies that pay for your training and licensing if you work for them for a period of time. Why aren’t adjusting agencies offering something like this? I would work for a company probably longer than that and retire if they took a new adjuster under their wing.
I was a trainer as a truck driver and I still check in with my former trainees to see how their careers and families are doing. This can be done and nobody wants to share anything unless you pay for it because they had to pay for it and that’s the norm.
IA firms do offer varying levels of training. The problem is that since adjusters are completely independent - they can work for company A for a few weeks and then go work for company B for a few weeks - when an IA firm invests in training and resource development they may be training up an asset that will never work for them. It's a tough challenge that's been a part of our industry for more than I've been around it (25+ years).
If an IA firm would offer the training and experience for me to work for them for one or two years I would do this. If I would leave the firm before the end of that commitment then I would owe them a certain dollar amount per the contract signed. Quality is about change. It is an idea to think about. That is what I’m saying for someone new to the career.
You have to pay for training, if your new, existing you have to train, if you think about all the fighters they pay for training, train to get the most that you can. I agree with Matt. When ups not deployed then train. That’s how you make the 3 4 500 a year
