  • The Pioneer VSX-451 Stereo Receiver has 80 watts per channel and Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound. As we demonstrate in the video, the receiver is impressively able to "extract" (or decode) a surround signal from a standard analog stereo track. (This was very effective for those of us who had purchased a HiFi VCR and were just getting into home theater in the early 1990s.) Of course, this "matrix surround" technology is all now obsolete since the surround systems we use today (like Dolby Digital or DTS) support multiple independent signals for each channel.

I love my VSX-451, it's still going strong after 30 years even though the dual cassette deck and CD changer I picked up with it have died. It may have been an entry level model but it's a real gem.

Have the same issues with volume. Sometimes scratchy and also right speaker goes out. Never thought it could be the speaker button. Thanks for the tip. Will try cleaning that with wd40 contact cleaner.

I started using our old dolby pro logic Kenwood system from 96 in the living room from 2016 till 2020 and now its stored but dolby pro logic is still pretty good and better than a soundbar.

How do I use aux with the does it go into the ‘control’ or “multi room remote “ hole?

Neither - if by use aux you mean a phone or something... Those jacks are not for sound, but for controlling other Pioneer equipment. What you need is a 1/8 inch to RCA adapter cable, which is available from Amazon or Walmart for a few dollars...

Do you keep these components in your collection after you make a video or do you sell them? Interested on knowing where you list them if you do!

Generally I keep them, sold a few items on eBay but it's generally a pain since some buyers' expectation levels are professional-level maintenance and Amazon-like shipping and they are angry if those expectations are not met. But if I sell something else, I will try to remember to post it in the "Community" section. Thanks for watching!

@@ACBMemphis no problem, I mess with the same kinda stuff you do and I buy stuff constantly that everyone passes over because they have no idea what it is. I found 2 colecovision consoles in the original boxes and complete. Got both for ten bucks and honestly the guy was waiting for me to offer less but I was happy with that price. Lol

Yes, these are great receivers. Also after making this video I noticed the remote is compatible with newer Pioneers... Thanks for watching!
