Take a good look at hunter as you go through the game He's athletic, he has tools such as a lightning bow, and winged flying machine like clearly he's capable of combating ripto but chooses not to. Even when his entire world is at threat of being taken over by an all powerful dictator. And then to add insult to injury, here he drops the power ups right in front of ripto. He's definitely in league with ripto.
I played a little of each game when I was a child because of the demos on the old Crash games. So I snagged the Reignited Trilogy this summer, and it's been incredible. Namely the fight against Ripto. It's so much fun. I see why this is such a classic. Good design and atmosphere too in the last fight, especially with the platform falling into lava. Everyone should buy this trilogy.
I absolutely loved this boss as a kid, I have beaten it now in the reignited trilogy and oh my! My favorite boss! The first two phases of Ripto are amazing, what I don't like is the phase with flying! Spyro 2 is the best game FOREVER!
I actually think the flying part was the best part of the fight (but I kind understand why you say that, the flying controls were nerfed in Reignited). This is a great example of a good final boss.
Quite honestly, I think that people just feel like Gulp is tougher because he's significantly harder than the first boss you fight in the game, Crush. But I have personally always found Ripto to be harder because the fight is much more long and drawn out, and he can be difficult to hit during his first phase as well. The flying phase at the end is also pretty difficult in my opinion, both because you have to hit Ripto and not the pterodactyl robot he's flying on to actually damage him, but also because he can sometimes fly behind the castle where you cannot hit him
@@matthewkuscienko4616 Gulp is way harder to me and it has nothing to do with Crush being a cakewalk. The tracking on Gulp's laser balls and their hitbox is absolutely ridiculous. Couple that with the fact that the bombs and barrels you have to hit him with can miss if you're not dead-on with aim and you have one annoying boss fight. Because of this, the skill point for Gulp is easily the worst in the entire trilogy. My inflated playtime for Spyro 2 is purely because of trying to get that skill point. By comparison, Ripto is a minor annoyance. The only phase I struggled with was his second phase on Mecha-Gulp because his fireballs track Spyro way better.
@@richardsinclair7661I know I’m replying 1yr later, not sure it it matters not but I found it easy to avoid getting hit by Gulps orbs by just staying in one place and run (Not charge, do not charge) but run in a small circle. I’ve struggled trying to defeat him and after seeing another video suggesting just running in a small circle in one spot, it literally worked and I didn’t get hit. Also to avoid him squashing oh, ironically running to him and under him before he lands in you helps instead of charging all around the arena.

This is a great example of a final boss (and the only really good one in the trilogy imo), you use most of all the super abilities you learned up to this point, Ripto can even use them against you. And yes, it is annoying that Hunter drops them near Ripto, but I feel like it’s a good thing because it makes the fight more challenging. But you use super flame, supercharge, even the super fly at the end and that weird new lob ability.

Funniest thing too is that he doesn't die, not just because it's a kids game, but because in the original, if you 100% the game, it shows you a collection of secret materials. One of the pictures shows Ripto at the Summer Forest being caught by the dragons and kept as a chew toy or something. Some people put two and two together, and it turns out Zoe indirectly saved his life by zapping him with her wand as she regularly does with Spyro. Dude got sent all the way back to the beginning lol.
Now this is a awesome final boss. Great theme and a unique mechanic with the orbs giving you a power attack to hurt each other. Then we have the final bit with the flying battle.
Maybe it's not that; we still see Sorceress (what name is that even?) slowly sinking in lava, and even worse, in acid later on. So maybe Ripto splashing into lava was a stylistic choice.

This was surprisingly easy, I had actually just had a hell of a struggle with the second boss so I was expecting something even worse here. I didn’t even wanna take on Ripto before I did the other levels but as I was walking towards the entrance to obtain the gems there I automatically entered 😒
