@peterpines4992 jelly is made with strained fruit making it almost a jello constancy, jam is made with mashed so there are parts of the fruit that is still together sort of. That's the basics difference.

Jelly and Jam are different things, its not just a different word for the same thing. Jelly doesn't have "stuff" in it its just the jelly and its also usually more firm/jelatinous and can hold its shape. Jam on the other hand tends to be looser and will not hold shape and contain "stuff" like bits of mashed up fruits or whatever.
I was looking for this comment. Glad it's here. I don't eat pb&jelly anymore only pb&jam will do, or preserves.
Also depends on where you are in the world. "Jelly" in the US is the sandwich spread made from fruit juice, while "jelly" in the UK is a dessert food (specifically it's what would be called "Jell-o" in the US).
I don't know what the case is with Canada, though.
@@Groundlord If I buy something labeled "jelly" in the USA it's a low quality jam-like crap, but if I buy jam or preserves it's much better. Jelly is overly processed and has gelatin in it.

For those who are wanting context or are confused, in the states, we have three kinds of fruit spread that typically go on toasts ‘n stuff:
Jelly here refers to a variant of jam that has absolutely no fruit pieces. Instead, it is a gelatinous spread made from the juice of the fruit.
Jam, as we classify it, is made from pureed or crushed fruit, and has fruit pieces.
And lastly, we have preserves, which is made from either whole or cut fruit, and are lumpier than jam. Kinda like pie filling, but more gelatinous.
