what is your build/augs/weap because i feel like i have bis but i can only peak like 7-8k and my play style isnt far off from yours so im completely stumped to the point where im considering ditching slayer.

you will need ra sub with 3 points in blight round self benefit with at least one RA in the party. if there is no ra then your DPS naturally will not be as high.

I do have a question if you don't mind!
I am hovering around 6 to 7k with my cannons.
For the cannon phase i saw you guys only exposed one weak point and concentrated fire on the same wp, is that essential to getting over 7k? I only have 60% pot floor but others said it's enough to reach over 7k.
Also when do you use your special shots? Do you just spam them whenever or use them to break the shields covering the weakpoints etc?

there can only be one weakpoint at a given time.
also note that the cannons in this quest are given extra potency floor by default. you need to reach at least 77% potency floor with your gear, in this particular quest only, to achieve 100% floor.
special shots so far from my experience are best used on the breakable parts to quickly find where the weakpoint is located. it is completely random at each cycle.
Edit - after more attempts, it seems to be more favorable to use the special shot on weakpoints, and hope for luck that normal attacks reveal the weakpoints on the first attempt

why the RA sub for Sl tho ?

the ra skill 'Blight Rounds Self Benefit' is not locked to main class, and it gives +15% potency when you're not attacking the blighted part of an enemy. given we split up on part 1 it is basically an unconditional 15% damage boost
