the way this movie contrasts the two siblings. their love lives, their mindsets, their personalities, their journey. especially with the coloring of the actual film, his part was much more vibrant and saturated to show all that was built up inside him. while hers, it was more airy, same amount of color, just a different saturation. they both have so much potential (shown through color) they just went down two completely different paths..

When Tyler is in the back of the police car, there is a continuous flashing of red and blue lights, this not only emphasizes the anger he has in his heart at the moment but also the remorse. What makes this theme especially special to me is the mixing of red and blue makes purple, a purple heart representing the pain he endured from the brief lapse of his judgement. Love is not only comforting but it is also painful, I think this film encapsulated that beautifully, and that's what really made me fall in love with this film.

The scene with Tyler looking at the picture of Alexis in his cell always makes me tear up. He genuinely loved her and didn't mean to kill her. But he made a lot of poor decisions and one in the moment mistake ruined their lives. It's so heartbreaking. I love this movie.

The tragic part of the movie is: the boy killed his girlfriend after a “argument” because she was pregnant,accidentally(he pushed her and shit hit her head on the ground) he went to jail, it took a toll on the family then it switches to the sister POV where she found a boy she loves lol that’s just to make a long story short
My ex used to do me just how Tyler did Alexis .. I mean we went through the abortion stage to losing the baby .. it was so much but we loved each other so much Aside from the slapping and abusive stuff. Throughout high school I just wanted the best for him.. he just didn’t get it … Im 26 now I tried since high school to help him.. He passed away not that long ago .. this movie broke me being that I tried so hard to fix him … but couldn’t … if you love your partner you will try tremendously to change with them for the better.. time caught up to him and it breaks me everyday ..
