    I really love your video. Let me thank you, because there aren't many people out there who know how incredible these animals are, and by posting it, you let people know, how awesome these creatures are.
    I have a domestic turtledove (a ringneck dove as you say), and he's the best. He's a four year old guy his name is Bilbo. He lives with me in my room. and loves too much when I take him out of his cage to fly around of my room. Nevertheless, he usually spends all his time on my shoulder, he's the most affectionate animal I've ever know.
    I'm a blind man, but when I heard all of those guys cooing and laughing at the same time, I thought "Wow, this lady must love ringneck doves". So Warmest regards from Quilmes Buenos Aires, dove's friends are also mine.

    How to stop a bully male? I have 2 mated pairs in a 6' tall, 4,' wide 3' deep aviary. Lots of nesting options and perches at different levels. He bloodied him bad.. had to separate. Just had my first chick today, waiting on second egg. Subscribed.

      Make sure to observe where the territory is that the males are fighting over. There is usually an Alpha male. He will be the meanest. Multiple locations for perches, more than one food tray and I do mean tray..this will be needed. Bowls for food only encourages fighting. The idea is to create a flock mentality. Males need their own territories ie separate perches and areas for nests. Preferably at the opposite end of the enclosure. Watch their behavior. Changing the set up can calm things down. Basically at some point you would need to rearrange everything. Make it brand new. Then put the birds back. You can control the environment this way by placing perches strategically in opposite areas of the enclosure. The males will establish their own territory. If both Males are mean then you may have 2 Alphas. This is why separate territories for each male are absolutely necessary. A Beta male will be allowed more free access without being attacked as much. It's possible you have 2 Alphas. But the only way to know for sure is to rearrange the enclosure and watch what happens naturally. Also more birds added would make a more peaceful enclosure and community. Eventually everyone figures out their place. Hope this helps!

    What age does a ringneck grow their ring? Does it start grey and turn black?

    • @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107

      4 months old and the color of the ring depends on the color of the Dove. Blonde, Wild, Pied, Peach, Rosy, Frosty all have dark neckrings. Tangerine, Orange, Sunkist, Ash etc all have Light neckrings. White has a neckring line or subtle shadow.

    I order a couple of ring neck doves online they told me they are 6-9 months when I got them about 4 months ago. But they still have not started laying eggs ? Do you have any suggestions? I hope they aren’t the same gender

    • @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107
      @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107  2 роки тому +2

      How are they acting behavior wise? At 6-9 months old they will be laying eggs right away. If they are cooing constantly than they are males. Either they told you the wrong age or they are the wrong gender. Breeders really shouldn't guess the gender, it's too easy to get it wrong. That's why we gender test the ones we sell. I'd give it a little more time. Gender testing them is the best way to be certain. iqbirdtesting.com
      A gender test is $11.99. We aren't affiliated with them, we just use them all the time. Results in 2-4 business days once they get the blood samples by mail. BTW I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. If for any reason you do have the wrong Gender, our doves come with their own Gender Certificates at no extra cost to you. We offer confirmed Males and Females. We also do our best to tame them so they are friendly.

    • @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107
      @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107  2 роки тому +1

      That sounds okay. I do encourage wider though. Floor space is must for doves. They like to walk around and forage. We have 54 birds but our Aviary is 8ft x 6ft x 4ft. The height vs length makes it perfect. But we won't add anymore unless we make it larger.

      @@LVBT Yes the males do fight. Mostly they wing box. Sometimes there is pecking but if the enclosure is big enough then they get over it. Then the next day they argue over the same nest or whatever. It's not constant but it does happen. Oh and it's only certain males ie the Alpha males. Other males aren't too bad. My doves always mate and lay eggs and sit there for about the required days for the egg to hatch and they never hatched all they do is just roll the egg out of the nest or just don't bother sitting on them at all :(

    • @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107
      @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107  2 роки тому +1

      Have you ever candled the eggs to see if they are fertile? A simple flashlight will do. After they lay their next set of eggs, wait 3 days. Then take one and put it over a flashlight. Even your cell phone flashlight will work. You should see a red little blob in the middle and it will flicker. There might even be some red veins. Also sometimes the babies just don't hatch ie they pass beforehand in the egg. It's important to know if you have a fertility issue or babies that aren't being incubated properly. Sometimes they get off the eggs too often and this will cause early death of eggs.

      @@AuraFxs It really comes down to the male. Do they get a lot of sunlight? Sunlight effects fertility in your doves. I'm not sure of any real way to know personally. Only based on trial and error. I have had a pair have issues before and it was our Hen. Her eggs always had issues with them. The male went on to produce babies with someone else. Really examine the eggs. Do they looks fragile (shell looks thin) Are there any odd markings like shadow spots. This can tell you of she is getting enough calcium or not. Their diet needs to have calcium (oyster shell, high calcium grit, shredded cheese) High protein diet (ground up nuts, unsalted) All around good food, good sunlight etc.

    • @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107
      @majesticdovesaviaryllc1107  2 роки тому

      Gender testing overall. Now if the bird is at least a year old then behavior can "sometimes" tell you what the gender is. Males coo constantly. Females don't hardly make a sound. Females obviously lay eggs and males do not. Males and females both do the bow coo so You cannot use this as a gender determination. Head shape between males and females can vary. A lot of people think that one gender has more of a round head than the other but this is not true. I have seen females and males have round and square heads. We have gender tested all of our birds ahead of time so this confirmed the genders. We do not guess on gender here.
