This video was great, I love how you presented the pros and cons in the beginning. I’m a new player looking for a game to continually come back to and rs3 checks all the marks. I’d get into OSRS but I can’t get over the graphics
That was the goal, to introduce the game to someone in a way that wasn't daunting or overwhelming. Because I know that can be a huge reason why people don't give established games a chance.
I just started for the second time. The last login was over 900 days ago, I just played every night until 5 am for a few school weeks then got stuck, then distracted. So at most i played for 2-3 weeks. now I'm trying it again with a new mindset :) going to work on range attacks first. Playing Runescape 3
Thank you! I appreciate that. Runescape is a game I've played on and off for over 10 years, so I tried to combine my nostalgia, with everything I learned about gaming as a whole since then and give people the best picture of the game I could.
@@Tenkiei well you definitely did a phenomenal job doing so, iv only heard about the game a couple of time way back when and even tho I’m not a huge fan of mmo’s after watching this I might give it a go, keep up the good work, if I need a guide again I know who to look at first cuz you’ve got a new sub 🤙
I'd just like someone to give me a labeled diagram of what the crazy, complex RS3 UI all means. There are so many icons and timers and buttons, I don't know what to click.
After a week of gameplay, honestly hundreds of guides I give up, 0 quests done, This game was so discouraging and the “guides” on this game is basically just its history, is RuneScape some secret like why is no one saying wtf new players need to do to play.
I never played runescape as a kid (because I didn't understand it back then, i got into WoW) so I have no nostalgia to it what-so-ever. However now I was looking for a good mobile game and rs seems to be a great one (since it's not the typical trash mobile game). I'm still not sure about rs3 vs osrs. On one hand I really enjoy the quality of life stuff in rs3, but then osrs has way more players. There must be something to that version that I don't know about that people really enjoy. Pvp isn't for me, but I do enjoy being in an active guild/community and chat to people. Ask them stuff, do things together. Etc. I also don't really care about "hardcore" (not having a mining box in osrs seems like a pain). Currently i'm playing a bit of both to see where it's going. I'd love to hear from other players what they think.. and perhaps join a guild
RS3 actually has a higher player count on a day to day basis of unique player logins. OSRS has higher physical number of players logging in, but most of them are multibox and/or bots. OSRS is not really old school, because there is a ton of content that wasnt there before (OSRS) -- so i find it to be some new strange new game, that i have no interest in losing the QOL features and regular content updates to play. I am biased because i played runescape back then and yes it was great, however the game needs to have updates to remain fresh in my opinion. To be fair, your point about meaningful progression in osrs is also wrong, so many maxed bot accounts, and up until recently you could afk all 99 combat skills, 100% afk in NMZ or afk pvp. Weapons also have Special abilites in RS3, just have to get up to the 70 marker to really see them :P
Even just moving around the world of OSRS, I see a lot more players (some may be multi-box, but I'd be shocked if they were all bots as most will answer when they say hello) as opposed to RS3 where the world often feels empty unless I go to an activity specific area of an activity world. I played RS2 a lot back in the day, to the point where I was nearly maxed. But I agree RS3 feels a lot fresher than OSRS and some skills, like mining/smithing are far more enjoyable in RS3. As for being able to afk combat or maxed bot accounts, that's not really a good argument because you could always afk combat in runescape. My point has to do more with the amount of time/effort IE: the relative ease or accessibility of leveling things to 99 between the two games. It is much faster (in terms of real world time) to level many skills in RS3, and you can do so in a more afk manner. Which is not to say the effort is meaningless, but if you compare that to OSRS you will spend more time, and often more effort on a lot of skills so it will feel more meaningful to you because you remember the time and effort you put in far more than the objective result of both numbers hitting 99.
Guys. Theres two versions of runescape on steam, theres no runescape 3. I didnt play runescape for almost 20 years, wanted to comeback but with better graphics. Which one should i pick as a casual player?
this video may be 2 years old but i was 6 at day of launch. parents were both massive DnD nerds from the start of that and at 6 they had me learning dnd and then runescape a year after launch and only now am i back and trying annny runescape and lost... well guess that happens after 20 years away XD
I'm not sure if I am coming in after an update, but I just started playing runescape 3 recently. The loot box keys I don't find a problem at all, granted at the time of commenting they do not take up any inventory space whatsoever. Sure they let you lvl skills faster but some people only have a small amount of time to play each day, myself I only have about 2 hours on a good day to play. I'm not a whale, nor have I spent any money on the game as of yet and I don't plan to outside of a sub, but if someone honestly has 20k to throw away, it's not going to affect my fun or enjoyment at all. Just seems like an odd con to me.
They didn't take up space for me either at first, but then when I got to 10 keys or so, they started becoming physical items in my inventory that I could not bank and the only way to get rid of it was to use them. The game doesn't need them and shouldn't have them, and it is especially annoying to be forced to use them because they would otherwise pile up in my inventory and prevent me from playing. Like with all lootbox systems treasure hunter is a predatory and psychologically manipulative system designed to trick people into parting with money they can't afford to spend, so it is a major con to be forced to engage with it. You're absolutely right that you shouldn't need to engage with treasure hunter to play runescape and if in a recent update they made it so you can store an unlimited number of keys and not use them that's great. I haven't played in the past month or so due to being busy with other things so I'll have to check for myself at some point in the future.
Maaan, I just wanted to play old school runescape with my old school account the way it was in 2006, but I have to start fresh or be forced to play this complicated new one? :(
I wanna play RS3 but I absolutely hate EoC. Tried tons of times to do the revolution mode in order to get myself into it, but I just can't. According to everything I read legacy mode is pretty much useless in lots of content. Feels like there isn't much of a point in progressing in RS3 with legacy mode only when there isn't really anything at the end of the road.
Mature gamer brand new to this IP ive DL Runscape but its not either of these versions ?? Has a new version come out since this vids release ? Info here still good ?
Woah woah woah, I'm enjoying the game but I do take exception to comparing it to Path of Exile as PoE is COMPLETELY free with it's monetization model being purely cosmetic (runescape allows you to purchase time saving xp boosts, portable crafting benches etc.) and PoE also does not gate content behind a monthy sub, which Runescape does. As i said i'm enjoying the game, feels like a 3rd person Wurm online only with refined graphics and a less obnoxious UI, but I feel it's important to be accurate when comparing the business model of games, especially free to play ones.
i just started old school runescape on my phone im trying to start doing all my quest i just went to talk to willow as it was my first quest and willow tokd me ive not got the required lvl to start the quest so off to a bad start already lol
I played rs since 03 I play both, I’m currently working on rs3 for max stats since I have hold that off for awhile. PvM is really fun. I would play old school rs for the pvp, and some pve and the nostalgia
I need some help since you’re experienced lol.. I’m typing my pin in and when I hit enter to submit it to use the bank or build a house or whatever requires my pin the tab closes and nothing happens. Is there another way to submit my pin or a certain key besides enter on the keyboard to how I submit it? Any info will help
Ohh so its fee to play as much as you want, but in order to be able to play it and get the good skills, something that is essential to every mmo you have to subscribe? Skip.
That's not how it works at all. Skills in RS are totally separate so if you're F2P it doesn't matter that members skills exist. Also it's very easy to earn the money to subscribe with in-game currency.

If you use RuneLite there's an OSRS HD mod that makes it look a lot like Runescape 3.
How did you deal with the UI
