Geoff can do that to you. His abilities are beyond impressive, and yet he is so humble. Many knowledgable people who know of him consider Geoff to be among the best bass vocalists of our time; he, on the other hand, barely considers himself a bass at all. Go figure. (btw, when watching his solo videos, any vocals you hear will be his; he doesn't use backup singers)

Even those of us who have watched him for years are still surprised

Patreons convinced him to do this song... and he made a version that pays homage and has the Geoff flair... I loved it from the first time I heard it. So soulful - and beautifully executed. He totally underplays his own talents. He honestly thinks he is an average guy! 🌹🕊

Just think, Geoff's voice is getting deeper with age.
He commands a full five octaves and can make them do whatever he wants.

100% agree that he doesn't know everything he can do!

The lyrics of this song are sufficiently vague that different artists have been able to interpret it in completely different ways and give it a completely different feel.
Simon and Garfunkel: "I had a weird dream."
Disturbed: "You were warned and now you must pay."
Pentatonix: "We can overcome this, together."
Geoff: "I am so, so sorry this happened to you."
Heh. Yeah, it's like the first time somebody shows you Euler's identity. Mind blown.

Geoff is full of surprises. Just when you think you've figured him out he surprises you with something new.
Never thought of comparing him to AP Calculus, but like math there are ranges/depths of Geoff that have yet been discovered. Looking forward to the wonders of thus Rabbit Hole. 😊😂😄
You're right it's hard to explain exactly what Geoff's voice sounds like. You need to also check out Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold and I See Fire. Many have accused Geof of being different people (four brothers) not knowing they were all one guy.😂🤣🤣

Where the OG version by Simon and Garfunkle was a warning, and Disturbed's version was anger, Geoff's version more depicts sadness. All very different, but all unique.

A wonderful reaction! And highly relatable, though calculus is not usually the thing to comes to mind first, when I listen to Geoff. But fair. 😂
If you wanna see him so another new thing, watch either "The Little Mermaid Medley" or "Queen in five minutes" both by VoicePlay. Other than that, any song by Geoff I would automatically recommend, but "Blackbird" is a great example for his range, "Monster Mash" a great example for his silliness, and "Shanandoah" is my overall favourite of his covers.

3:52 it’s decedent. Like a rich smooth deep chocolate with a little whisky grit chaser 😂. It completely envelopes you, it rattles the brain in the best way possible. I told Geoff him and VP helped me through cancer/chemo and his voice was like a great itch to my chemo addled brain.

@@HEELKEVIN1If you have ever played the Halo video game then please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover of Halo, the theme song from the Halo video game. The composer of the music said it was the best he ever heard. He was blown away by it. Please watch it till the credits end. They have an important message about the game & how it is near & dear to them.

Oh, you picked a goodie! It is an incredible version. It's up there with Simon and Garfunkel's but only because I was in high school and it was so different from the rock songs. S & G did some of the best poetry in the world for their music. Geoff came along and made it all real. Love it.

When Geoff jumped to a higher register at, "... _and the people bowed and prayed_ " he had gone into a musical version of a super Saiyan - his hair flowed and even the camera shook from the transformation :)

Geoff has a quality high voice because he's a natural tenor. He trained himself to be a bass.
He has a very pretty, low-voice lead in his multitrack cover of "Til Then," originally a WWII song by The Mills Brothers.
On the Voiceplay channel, there are several songs where he'll do a slide of 3 and a half or even four octaves. Try Oogie Boogie's Song, Little Mermaid Medley, or You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch for starters.

You really need to listen to Ain't No Sunshine. There's a place where he is way high and just DROPS unfathomably low. No warning. Just BOOM.

@@vvoof2601 I'd need both hands and all my toes to count the performances he does that in, so not so much. What amazes me about that one is the number of reactors who appear to miss it, like their brains just don't lock in on what's happening.

Geoff does a karaoke track (as does Voiceplay) for patrons. That low rumble at the beginning was on the "instrumental" track, so is not his voice. But very effective, right?

  • @rhov-anion
    @rhov-anion 2 місяці тому

I get it. In my opinion, Geoff's deep voice speaks to some instinctual side of the human brain. Maybe it's like this primal "Man with deep voice, scare away animals." I've seen male reactors exclaim that they feel "intimidated" by Geoff, and female reactors say they feel "secure" listening to his voice. So my theory is that bass voices activate those deeply buried instincts. In caveman times, he would have been the leader, the tall man with a deep voice that growls as low as a bear or tiger. Today, he's more of a teddy bear with a goofy sense of humor.

I love the energy and passion in your Geoff/VP reactions. The music really speaks to you, and I love that.
However, you give me an aneurism every time you pause the video as soon as the music is over. 🤣 Often, Geoff and VP will have something after the fade to black. Like this one has a message from Geoff while his patrons roll. Not the worst thing to miss, but I know you're going to eventually get to a video where people are going to freak out because you missed something after the fade to black.
Maybe you check it off camera, so if you do ignore this, but if not, you may want to take into consideration to let Geoff/VP vidoes play at least until the patron credits start rolling....just in case. 🙂
