This, to me, is the epitome of surfing. Not the high speeds, not the ultra short thruster boards, not the fancy turns and flips and cuts. True surfing, the heart of the sport, is relaxing on a slow roller with a longboard and just forgetting the world exists.
Bruce Brown...may you rest in peace. Thank you for the endless visual you gave us in The Endless Summer. May the waves forever continue like at Cape St. Francis.
just another great spot that has been f'd up from coastal devolpoment....without the sand flow from the dunes it became just another ordinary wave...it's a shame
Just got done watching this movie in Blu-ray on my home theater. You really need to see this on a big screen to get the full impact. Great scenes, fun narration, and the music really rocks!
My Parents were German immigrants to South Africa and they lived for a while nextdoor to these two Surfers. Margarethe and Erhard were my parents names.
i know exactly where this spot is and got to surf it with the locals in 2001 its called Bruces beautys but out of respct im not saying where it is. Peace and love to all you beautifull people out there. hi to Dods and P if your out there
@wangsta231 im the exact same way, only im 19, i get along better with all the older surfers that probly older than my parents haha. they just enjoy surfing for what it is. not competitions or sponsors. if i was one of those people in the video, i could have died that night and i would have died happy after having that session.
Some of the best four and a half minutes in all of moviedom.
Hats off to Bruce Brown!

No secret. It's 10 miles from J bay. The irony is they didn't find Jefferies which is far far better.
Hecka gnar gnar!
Watch out for Robert's bellows. Those things are wicked.
