      I'm pretty sure it's just the song as is, but we have the visuals of his guitar playing on top of it. There's little inconsistencies throughout that lead me to think this. Not to discredit this video though, his playing is accurate and really good!

      He’s playing over the original audio from the sounds of it and not a backing track.
      I slowed down the 2nd solo to .5 speed to learn it better, and as I was listening to the very last notes I could hear the original song.
      Esp. at the last squeal, he didn’t use a tremolo/whammy bar, but one can be clearly heard still underneath his playing.

    • @sergiodambrosio363
      @sergiodambrosio363 3 роки тому +9

      @CARTER JOHNSON Exactly!!! I repeat this thing many years now! It seems that, since the 90's, standard tuning is considered not appropriate for Metal anymore! Just look at how few are the bands that still use it. Iron Maiden is the most important of those, and one of my absolutely favorite bands since 85, but there is almost a rule, in modern times, that Metal bands have to be downtuned, to sound heavy! Really bullshit, in my opinion: in the 80's almost all played in standard ( with a few exceptions of course like Slayer, Savatage, Armored Saint, Candlemass, Crimson Glory... but surely not so dropped down like those who came after ) and yet there were so many that did sound heavy and powerful: Metallica, Anthrax, Testament, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, Accept, Cirith Ungol, Dio, Iron Maiden, Sanctuary, Metal Church, Dark Angel... All these bands, and many others, made masterpieces with standard tuning, and who could say that they were not heavy?!? No, I really do not understand why Metal nowadays must almost always be tuned down so low... In my opinion it does not sound better, standard tuning sounded much clearer and better; a semitone flatter is still good too... But some bands really goes too far... Too down, I should say! Probably I am too old school (born 1970, listened to HM since 85 and played bass since 86), in fact I am not a great fan of too extreme bands. An old grumpy metalhead, who knows?!? Greetings from Italy!

    This is song is actually what got me into playing guitar. Got ahold of an acoustic on a big family diner, and decided to Google a "tab" to my favorite guitar part.... After 20 minutes or so of trying to figure out how to operate the damn thing, I finally was able to "play" first three power-chords with 10 seconds between them (and I was very lucky to choose the easiest intro in Janes' career). The song is still the benchmark of my progress, and oh boy, how sweet it is sometimes to find myself to be a tad bit closer to the original...

      he has 22 fret as well don't worry
      use his technic bend the 22 fret to get the sound of the 24th fret I mean its hard but also depend on the strings you use and action of your guitar but it's only 1 note so your should be good to go 🤘

    • @tyrinh34
      @tyrinh34 4 роки тому +2

      Some people hit the harmonic of the 4th fret i believe? And they use a Floyd rose wammy bar and pull up a couple times but then again even if you had a Floyd rose you would most definitely have a 24 fret guitar🤷‍♂️

    Thank You for this! It's great! Question to you and the masses, the ever so popular Metallica MOP Tab book is incredibly different. This sounds correct and accurate, true to the actual song. Is the tab in the book simply wrong or just an alternative way of playing the song? I would like to hear your opinion SG if you have any experience with this subject and or anyone else's opinion too. Thanks again, great channel - New Subscriber!!!

      @@SightlineGuitar You're plaing the chorus wrong. During the "Come crawling..."-part you're playing C notes but it should be B notes. You're playing: "CCCCCCB" but it shoule be "BBBBCB".
      And if you really can't hear it (which you should) you can just watch James Hetfield in a live video and see for yourself.
