As we approach the Steam launch of Romans: Age of Caesar on April 27th, we wanted to discuss Rome (or Roma as Aaron likes to say it) and its hold on our lives and imagination. Through its influence across law, architecture, trade, military tactics, art and craftsmanship, ancient Rome has its hold on developers worldwide.
Today we're incredibly excited to talk about why the Eternal City of Echoes and the empire that blossomed from its industrious seed came to be the setting for our latest and most ambitious online game, Romans: Age of Caesar. Gaming is unique in its capacity to allows players to actively engage with historical settings, making your experience far more personal as a result of being active participants, instead of just passive observers.
While every genre chooses different dimensions of Roman civilization to examine, we’re particularly interested in bringing to life architectural, economic and political planning needed to transform a city on the southern Italian peninsula into an continent-spanning empire that lasted for centuries through natural disasters, civil wars, barbarian invasions and power-hungry tyrants.
Likewise, the advances in technology have meant that in every aspect, from music and design to visual art and gameplay, the ways in which we can artistically recreate and represent Roman life has evolved over the years, with new avenues for technical experimentation while building upon the classic city-building heritage that Firefly Studios is known for.

Why does it look worse than CivCity Rome? A game released about sixteen years ago.
I remember there is another game look very similar . That time still use CD . Oya is caesar 2.

The stronghold 4 should be in Medieval Europe and Middle east with awesome graphics
And awesome gameplay , not slow gameplay and buggy AI like new strongholds
I honestly think you guys are good blokes, and the youtube channel really comes with quality content.
But there's only so much goodwill people can spare while you keep on tumbling from one Stronghold release to the next. This product is a lowpoint. Complete and utter trash. It seems to be made for a market that died quite some time ago (early 2k browser games).
Stop insulting peoples intelligence. These kinds of games are nothing but fronts to catch and exploit the few whale players that cannot handle money. Shame on you!
Why not make a real game in the roman era? All the indies are shitting out city builders currently, why not make another Civ City Rome like game? It wasn't a masterpiece, but still so much more enjoyable than this trash, and would certainly fit the trend.
This straight-up looks like a Facebook game from 14 years ago lol. Is this really the kind of thing any of your developers went into game development to make? If so, that's pretty telling of the state of the industry.
And you're an expert in gaming industry, yes? Then you probably know that as a developer you also must make small money to get the big money.
bro it costs SO much money to make games, do you think that the developers don't understand what they are making? Obviously if they had the budget to create the next elden ring they would. Most developers want the game to look and run excatly the same as how the community does but that costs money and money isn't spawning in their bank accounts.
You don't listen to the fans! Just improving what was already good in Stronghold 2. I miss playing life in castles like before.
We actually ran a player survey post-Warlords which nearly 10k fans responded to. In addition to paying close attention to comments on social media/elsewhere online :)

The new games its good, but my personal opinion is that you need to work on old games too, improve something, add something new at the request of the players, fix bugs and others.
We are constantly reviewing opportunities to provide fixes and small updates to older titles, doing so on occasion for everything from Crusader to Space Colony. If plans emerge to do anything bigger than that we'll let you know :)

I mean you guys let me redeem my 20+ year old game discs into a steam library and even spoil me with HD versions. And are so actively into them all.
I'm still playing them for hours to this day.
you guys have had your bumps but hey who hasn't you guys defiantly deal with them better than most if not all the other companies I know.
I was a little hesitant on warlords just because the drastic change of theme (jiving with the medieval Europe theme so much) but I got it it took a bit of time for me to warm up to it but I do enjoy it and am glad I got it.
(I love how I can still do my OCD defense with archer crossbow spam tactics with it and the curve is different enough to make it enjoyably different the the previous versions)
Siege has always been my weaker point on all the games but the games challenges me to really fight and try even if I need to reset multiple times till I finally get that most satisfying victory and completely grind the enemy into the dirt.
Often I'll take a 30min hour mission and make it 4 hours just for that OCD massive overkill
I've dislike when games do army caps depriving me of that.
I haven't been much into city builders since pharaoh and not into mmo but I'll have to take a poke at this.

seeing you interest in roman history and screenshots from good old cesar III makes me wish that you would either remaster it, or make a new impressions like city builder set in Roman times. I have played Romans: Age of Caesar during the beta, and its a ok game but i still long for a full singleplayer city builder game.
