Great videos great to see you back my Daughter is a big fan and she loved the one I made for her like yours. Also if you make more copper pipe work invest in a Tube Cutter makes life easy.

Get yourself a 2 or 3 inch pillar candle to use instead of having to hold a lighter. I've used one for heat-shrinking, bending plastics, and heating metals. It can sit in a fixed position, can free up a hand and you don't have to concentrate on holding the switch on a lighter or keep relighting it (unless you want to for other safety reasons). You don't have to stop with the flame to keep from overheating the lighter or burning your fingers. Also as a bonus, it can add to the ambiance in the room and if it has a nice scent that won't hurt either.

That's a great design and lends itself to leaning forward too. Have you thought of using 3 Watt LEDs and heat transfer epoxy (similar to the heat transfer paste on CPUs, but epoxy.) to bond the LEDs with wires soldered (and heat shrink covered) to their upturned legs to the bottoms of the pipes. You would need current limiting resisters and have to watch your power supply voltage. I think you would get brighter light pipes.

Hi, a nice idea and well thought out, the hot glue makes a good insulator and when cooled off will keep the wires from touching the copper although I would have connected it first and then plugged the power supply in just in case. It is definitely a new design that on one else is likely to have come up with and a good use of things that were already in your house. You have a one off and nice light.

You could have saved a lot of time buying a pipe cutter. Very cheap. Clean cut, no sanding down either. Hindsight is wonderful. Good project.

It definitely looks cool like artsy, one-of-a-kind unique project. Only shame, those diodes can't be changed without ripping everything open once those diodes burn out.

NICE!! Wouldn't it be more brighter if you roughed up the arcyrlic rods full length using sand paper so that it dissipates more of the light? i.e make them matte on the outside.

    Nice work!
I have an idea for diy project. I will share it here to see if anyone else is interested. I want to make a device to show the passing of time. Similar to sand glass clock but with different mechanism. I am thinking using a glass or transparent plastic tube as the frame of the device, the tube's shape can be designed, we will put liquid into the tube and inject an air bubble at last, by controlling the shape of the tube and tilt angle(for example, using a spiral trajectory for the tube), when we flip the device, the air bubble will climb along the tube and eventually reach the other end of the tube using some constant time. In this way, by observing the location of the air bubble at a certain time, we can know how much time has passed since we flip the device upside down.
Above is the core idea of the device, off course we need to design extra structure to hold the glass tube, and try to make it look nice with other decorations.
I would love to hear from you and other viewers on how you guys think of this idea! Thank you!
