    There is a book that came out recently called "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Official Visual Companion". It has some interesting pictures which have been doing the rounds on one of the MESBG facebook groups i'm on. It has some new Haradrim designs in it.

    Plastic High Elf warriors would sell like crazy - they're useable in both the Last Alliance (which I think GW needs to make a campaign book on) and the Angmar Wars (Lindon/Rivendell). Not to mention the War of the Ring. Thats 3 campaigns/eras.

      I agree; I think they're going to try to go in a more star wars legion direction. Legion has managed to create a nice niche. But I shop a lot at the warhammer Cafe in tx and their lotr section is a single column on one wall. Which is less than even blood bowl. Hopefully this new marketing push will allow lotr to get more marketshare but it will compete with old world and AoS for fantasy wargaming.

      I'd get a ton of them for sure; especially if their new ruleset/profile will also no longer be a carbon-copy of the Silvan Elves of Lorien and Thrandaddy-Halls.

    The reason the ent model has been renamed is because GW gave it the wrong name initially afaik, it's just a fix, really. I also think the old Helm model will be replaced with a new version, it's just not named because his rules will be in the new version and he won't be moved to Legacy. Some character being removed and others staying mostly seems to be an issue of bloat? Isengard, Rohan and Mordor already have plenty of named heroes (and the former will get plenty more with the upcoming releases) but the Easterlings, Corsairs and Moria didn't really have anything (besides the Balrog. Oh, and Khamul who is actually leaving which is still weird) so I can understand keeping some of the FW/metal in those ranges.
    Definitely agree with having more battlehosts, though, they're so good for getting into the game and I really hope there's enough trust of GW in the game to invest into more plastics. The print-on-demand thing isn't something I can ever see them doing, though I'd love to have a replacement of the current MtO system. Instead of doing a handful of models every once in a while and rotating the range, a (probably kinda hidden if it ever were to happen, let's be honest) special page on the webstore where you can declare your interest in certain OOP models. Once enough people show interest in a certain model (with some kind of acknowledgement on the customer's part that they're expected to actually order the model once they declare interest), they'll do a production run for those who expressed interest. They won't have to invest into new printing equipment, customers have a bit more influence on what'll be made and they won't have to constantly swap out moulds (which afaik is why they do MtO runs to begin with).

    There are probably many reasons why different models were removed, some because they didn't sell, some because they are metal and GW has been moving away from them for years and some because of licensing. There is no way a large corporation would tell any of those reasons though. No marketing manager would just post a list of products they are no longer selling and say aloud that don't blame us, no one is buying these. Licensing agreements are also often complicated and full of minor clauses that often seem to make no sense to an outsider and no corporation would publish that either. For example, no one outside Amazon knows the exact terms of their own licensing agreement when it comes to Rings of Power.
    All these corporate reasons still suck for hobbyists, but considering how many obscure, out of order GW-original models are still left in the game for no apparent reason, I don't think the design team removed more than the models they were told to remove, the messy nature of the list of things being removed stinks like a negotiated compromise agreement.

    13:00 I have to disagree at this point. There are very good examples for games that kept and still keep a good, stable playerbase, after GW threw the systems away. Some of them even evolved into something better. Necromunda (before rerelease), Mordheim (Almanach), Warhammer Fantasy (9th Age, Oldhammer, Armies Project, OPR, dozens of studios for 3D-models) and even MESBG itself wasnt realy support for an eternity by GW and survived only through the community.
    So if a game dies, thats our fault as the community. We dont need a company to keep the games we love alive. We own everything we need to keep going, especially in our times with 3D-printing and internet.
    Boycotting is our only tool as consumers to have any impact, so we have to use this "weapon" or swallow more of this garbage.

    • @TTAlliance
      @TTAlliance  Місяць тому

      @@ruas4721 I half agree with that. But a lot of people don’t and won’t 3d print. The larger percentage of the player base is always just going to be interested in official stuff, new releases etc. so while games may absolutely live on in player communities, it becomes more niche and somewhat stale without new releases, new profiles, new supplements etc

    • @ruas4721
      @ruas4721 Місяць тому

      @@TTAlliance Like i said, its the communities fault. People always take the easy way and the easy way is buying from GW. But in the end you cant complain about something and support it at the same time, thats just hypocritical in my opinion.
      In case of GW people always got disappointed after they invested into something, in the hope it will get better in the future. Best example are the EndTimes. The new releases hyped up the game, people bought new armies and books, just to get fucked up a few months later. And GW still does the same in the other systems, like the Khorne faction (dont know its name in english), Deathwatch or Legion of the Damned in 40k.
      It cant be the solution to just eat all the **** GW serves, there must be a point where the community says "No".

    Why do people care so much about GW's decisions? We can play the game any way we want. This fan base has so many hang-ups for this game, and it has been like this for years. Get over it. Don't buy the stuff you don't like. Keep the minis you care for and keep on playing the game. The same thing goes for the rules. We don't even care about some rules since they are hard to remember, so we just leave them out. I think we play this game for the love of the original story, not because of sculpts or anything else. Games Workshop are supposed to be building a new factory - so the space idea doesn't make much sense. It seems like they're streamlining the range in order to optimise profits, not so much making it more accessible to new players.
    Ever since GW became more widely known they've been making these self-destructive business first decisions more often. I don't understand why they can't forewarn us when these changes (model removal) are coming - that way GW gets the money from people making last minute purchases and the negative outcry over the decision is diminished.
    Its like FOMO is the first thing that GW focuses on to generate profit with the MESBG range.

    My wife deals with this all the time in her job. There maybe obvious ways to communicate that are off the table due to legality.
    Now that might not be the reason why GW is not communicating well, but it is a reason to give grace in the current situation.

I don't think this explanation holds any water, it's entirely based on conjecture by hardcore GW fans. At the end of the day I do not really care for what reason a product becomes significantly less attractive to me. For me, it's just the slow trickle of information which is frustrating. I may be wrong, but I think it was revealed that there was a new edition coming in August. And yet whilst they have shared new models, a new starter box, details of what's leaving and a few minor details on changes to the game, it has so far taken at least 3 months and I still have many many questions. The alliance matrix for starters. I have some armies which are made up of different factions. Can they be aligned now? Rohan warriors have had a redesign but will this come to all troops like Rivendell Elves, Warriors of Minas Tirith, Orc Warriors? They emphasized that some of the models they are removing are due to models not existing. So if they want to take away equipment and horses etc from models because the model doesn't exist, then what about profiles like the War Drakes which never had models to begin with. Are they going too or are they finally going to give us a model? When does this all release? The slow trickle of information doesn't excite, it worries. It halts the ability of people to plan out armies. I mean I'm forging ahead with the army I was half way through building when this news dropped because I intend to only jump to the new edition if it doesn't affect me. If it does, then screw GW, i'm sticking with the current edition. So it kind of doesn't matter if they make my armies invalid. But at the same time, It would be nice to know rather than sitting here continuing to wait for answers. Especially, I imagine for others who want to commit to the new edition but won't buy anything or paint anything until they know that what they are buying and painting is actually a good use of their time. I mean, little example. Until I know for sure, I can't know for definite if the warbands will remain the same. What if they change all warbands to having a flat 15 troops regardless of hero. Or what if they make it so cavalry and infantry can't be mixed. What if they change the bow limits and someone who has constructed an army to be legal whilst sitting comfortably on the line but then is told that bow limits have been lowered and their army is now illegal and they need to get rid of bows and get more swords. I want to know the deal now. Or alternatively, maybe they should have announced it later and not left us waiting. I'd rather have 1 big update with details of rules changes and the whole slate of models than waiting for 1 model a week to be revealed and a little bit of information about how heroic actions are changing
