The tip of "if you're only using half the grow room's actual volume for growing that you can just count the space being used for *actually growing* (canopy, plant mass)" is great. I've been wondering that and probably oversizing filters. Sure on that one? Just checking :) Thanks.
Awesome video! Answered just what I wanted. Any suggestions on how to keep the humidity low in an indoor grow tent? I'm trying to grow Wheatgrass and I'm getting mold. I just bought the tent. Hopefully it works out.
Thanks Brian! Good air exchange is your first port of call when it comes to keeping rising RH at bay. If you live in an area with already high ambient humidity, you may need to install a dehumidifier.
hey Everest I have a quick question I have a 5x5 veg tent and a 5x5 flower tent what size carbon filter would you suggest and do I keep my out take fan on 24/7 or on a timer to come on and off I've been trying to find information on how long to keep your outtake fan running but cannot find any good information I'm using a passive intake with just the vents open at the bottom no intake fan. my 1k Hood it's hooked up to my carbon filter and fan to the hood going out my tent. thanks for your time keep up the good work you are a beast
That depends on your filters rating in cfm’s no matter which way you set it up. If you have a 1000 cfm fan and your filter is rated 700... you’re getting 700 regardless.
so question if I put a intake fan leading to a carbon filter on the bottom of my grow box l, and put another fan with a carbon filter on. the top of my grow box. Will this not only circulate air but also allow air to flow into my growing box. I would assume so but I wanna know for sure before buying two carbon fans.
If a fan has a lower cfm, does that mean it will be quieter? If I get a 100 cfm for a 800 cfm room, strictly for second hand smoke, will I be able to get the job done?I don't want something loud. On the other hand, if I do get a 800 cfm fan/filter..will I clean out all my air within 1-2 minutes? something that would take the quieter fan 10-15 minutes? I want to clean out the air.. maybe 3-4 times per day. thanks
+Junior Ramirez Hi Junior, when your plants are big and mature their CO2 requirements are huge compared with when they are small. Also, your mature plants transpire far more moisture into the air than young plants. These are the two primary reasons I recommend one room's air exchange per minute when mature. A sealed room is a totally different ballgame. I plan some vids on that next year.
To buy a carbon filter for your Grow plant check out Blade Filter. They provide carbon activated filters for Grow plant in different sizes according to your need. Their new technology will surely help you in cutting filter costs.
If your attic is well ventilated (I.e. gaps in the eaves) then blowing garden exhaust air into it shouldn't be a problem. Monitor the relative humidity in your attic just to be sure that moisture is not building up in there.
Is it REALLY ok to have your filter outside the tent at the end? There is so much controversy on this on different forums. Some say the fans are made for pulling, so it should pull, filters are made for pulling so you should pull, and others say you loose Cfm on the way to the filter, and the push through the filter will be uneven, What to believe ?
I've been wondering this for a long time I have mine on the outside of my tent pulling the air out through it and an intake fan on the outside bringing in fresh air from outside the room
Aydin Vision HD An in-line filter has ducting at both ends so it can be placed anywhere along the ducting system - a standard carbon filter has a duct at just one end. For scrubbing a room I recommend a standard carbon filter.
What I dont get is the need for the filter at all. If it was incoming air I see wanting to filter it to remove things like incoming mold spores or pest. But why filter for removing air and sending it outside?
During the winter I use the hot air from my grow room to heat the living floor above in my house - this method means I can enjoy that heat without filling my home with garden smells.

Jeremy Hand Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your question. If your carbon filter is "reversible" (search the brand's website, packaging, or ask at your local hydro store) then yes, you can use it to pull or push air through-for pulling, wrap the white dust filter around the outer edge, for pushing air through it wrap the filter in the inner part.
Yes they do if they’re used at the beginning of a ventilation system. Dust gets caught in the outer fabric protector - that’s why it’s important to make sure they’re machine washable and to wash them regularly.
@@markandrewgriggs2294 you can remove some of the carbon granuals and put them in water. if they still make bubbles it means pores are open , if they dont' bubble at all, then closed and need replacing. make sure you do it once when carbon is new so you hav ea baseline visual.
The Dacron™ dust covers that come with the good quality carbon filters are machine washable. The cheaper carbon filters (that make you buy them separately for inflated prices!) are NOT.
CO Home Grower I use a specialized intake filter for my garden's air input. They are lighter and remove particulates rather than odors. Carbon filters adsorb odors rather than mask them like, say, an air freshener would. They are very handy as air scrubbers to keep the garden super clean and reduce the risk of molds and other airborne nasties so I would recommend them for all indoor gardeners.
What size fan and filter for a 1.2m x 1.8 x 2.4 tent? from your calculations I get around 190 when convert to ft an inches but sure I would need to exchange more than that I know I would need to be a bit more with carbon filter but thought it would need more than that

Thanks Forest-yes, it would be better if we could refill the filters with the same quality carbon using the proper industrial packing machines but they're not typically available at your local indoor gardening retailer. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear 'em! In any case, thanks for stopping by! :)

@@Just4Growers yes, you can drill the rivets out and empty and replace and fix with screws and cover with tape. Carbon is cheaper to buy than a new filter and if packed right can be better than the original filer 💯✌💚
