- The field watch is the SUV of timepieces, purpose-built for adventure and able to withstand the toughest of situations, all while showing off its good looks. Cut to the Promaster Tough, an elevated field watch that’s powered by any light with Eco-Drive and made from Super Titanium, so it's powerful enough to perform on land in the rigors of any outdoors adventure or rise to the occasion as a stylish timepiece accessory.
On this episode of The Watch Out, Bradley Hasemeyer unboxes, talks specs, and gets hands-on with the Promaster Tough to explore its 41mm case and bracelet made from Super Titanium, which is 5x stronger than stainless steel and 40% lighter, and talks about the spherical sapphire crystal, and the most unique element, the monocoque case.
What do you think about the new Promaster Tough? Will this be your new hiking partner? We'd love to know in the comments below!

I bought one during a black Friday sale Citizen was having. Been wearing it for about six weeks. They have been improving this watch for over 20 years. Most recently the changed the numerals on the dial, added drilled lugs and improved the clasp. The most comfortable watch on a bracelet I have. Crazy lightweight and a great shade of green. Anti magnetic, waterproof, shock resistant. Just leave it in the sun for 4-5 hours and your good to go for about 15 years. Super legible day or night.
Yessss. I really loved the chance to test this one out!
How much did it cost during the black Friday sale?
@@chandanm196 Sorry for the delay. I think I paid 425 or $435 USD
May i ask what your wrist size is? and if it fits perfectly?
I just bought the dark gray version and can’t wait to start wearing! Your review helped push me over the edge. Great job. Long Island Watch has it for $432 + i had rewards points with him to get for less!
Been thinking about a new Citizen for a while Bradley and just hit the go button on Citizens website.
All I need to figure out is how do I hide yet another watch from the wife !!!!
About 9 years I am totally happy with my JDM Green Promaster Land PMD56-2951. So green (not khaki) Tough i like pretty much. Thank for review and best wishes from Siberia!
upd. about the price. divide on years. lens is still perfect as new. tech too. case slightly worn but ok.
These are nice looking. I need to get hands on with one. I do sort of wish Citizen released an automatic version too, but Eco-Drive is solid. I love field watches for the reasons mentioned in the video. I've been mostly wearing field watches for 30 years!
Right?! Field watches are bulletproof! The ST material really makes this a winner. You'll love it.
such a nice looking watch - I saw one recently. Well presented Bradley, thanks.
And thanks to you!
Got this a couple of days ago. My first Citizen. Loved it on sight; great design and fit. Wish the date window had a magnifier or easier to see.
That's the first Citizen quartz watch I've EVER seen where the second hand doesn't line up quite right.
great review, just perfect! thank you
Great looking timepiece. 👍🏻
Hello, thanks for the video. Any idea how can I order one and have it shipped to the Philippines? Citizen websites only got the US listed on it. Thanks.
The dial is so cool❤
Is possible change battery or reactor ?
Could anyone tell me how to change battery?I know it’s eco drive but with the case don’t know how to open it
In order to replace the capacitor, you'd have to open it from the front, obviously.
Battery should last 15-20 years
@@YoManSanthx man
@@danielsavadel2151yeah it’s vale
Your not supposed to open the watch! It's printed on caseback to be service by Citizen Service Center only! It's a single piece monocoque case construction! To maintain its high efficiency and accuracy they only want their trained technicians to replace their batteries which supposed to Last over 10 years!
Also mine came with a six year warranty.
What will happen when eventually the battery has to be replaced? Won't be a hard job to do?

20-25 year power cell lifespan as long as you keep it charged.
Monocoque case construction. There is no case back. Everything is inserted/removed from the crystal side. You simply send the watch to the official Citizen Repair Center in 20-25 years for a new power capacitor.
Очень красивые. Классный циферблат.
Just ordered mine today and have to wait till at least Wednesday/Thursday…😢😅
How do you like it? I just ordered one today
Why no white dial and radio controlled like in japan? PMD56-2952
Yeah but what happens if it needs to be worked on?
You send it back to citizen for service. Their customer service is second to none!
Shocking. My UK only version hits all the markers and is much thinner.
The UK version much more elegant plus WR of 300M versus 200M on this dog. Less expensive too. Once again Citizen USA screws it’s customers. This watch design-wise, is a dog. And the sctick in this video every bit matches the design of the watch. 🤡
Why don't the second hands align with the dial markers? Seems like terrible QC on an otherwise brilliant looking watch.
This watch has a deliberately distorted single dome dial. That, plus parallax error from the camera makes it impossible to tell if the seconds hand is centering. The better version of this watch not sold in the USA has automatic needle correction. Watch checks itself and realigns hands and second hand as needed to keep them centered to the indices…
What we are really seeing here is an inferior model that Citizen USA jacks up for more money than the superior, flatter, more elegant and 300 meter water resistance - tougher- watch which you have to locate overseas - at a better price.
Momentum Atlas Eclipse 38mm is the same thing except for the water resistance. The Atlas is half the cost and not associated with Disney.
I love the look of this watch but the monocoque case is a big negative for me. Rechargeable batteries do not last forever and when this one loses too much capacity to be reliable it will be a job to get it replaced. I just recently replaced the one in my 2009 Citizen Chandler and it was a $25 / 5 min job.
25 dollars is not a lot for a battery replacement
Apparently the capacitors are now rated for '90 years'.
Secondhand is off...deal breaker.
Nope. Citizen missed the mark on this one. I was so excited about this one because I love field watches, titanium, and the size seemed right for me. But I tried one on recently and it was so disappointing. I’ve owned the Promaster Tough with the monocoque case and also a JDM Promaster Mont-Bell. This was nothing like those. Both watches were thin. This one was way too thick. And what the heck is up with the pricing?? My Mont-Bell was around the same price, titanium, sapphire crystal, but it was also radio controlled. This one is just a basic Eco-Drive.
$575 no ways.
Earn more money lol
they are getting greedy
look for sales and discounts. I paid $360 for this, new.
I paid $221 for mine
Citizen USA - maybe you should spend less money on shtick and more effort on bringing in the superior Citizen models which you choose not to import to the USA. I have countless far superior Citizen models - current models- which you refuse to carry. Instead you import dog models which you sell for vastly inflated prices. Your business model sucks.
Watch manufacturers are insulting the intelligence of the watch buying public with sky high prices.
Partly agree but they know that watches are already a completely unnecessary expense and therefore an inherently luxury consumer mindset. It’s essentially a worthless item that people just really want so they can put any price people will pay on it. That said I kinda want one. 😂
Keep in mind the entire watch , bracelet and clasp is made out of hardened titanium. The list price is 575 but I got mine for $430. Accurate within + - half a second a day. Many people say theirs has been running for 15-20 years with no battery or sevice. Anti magnetic, shock proof, waterproof.
@@danielsavadel2151I'm also seeing the $431. I've never owned a Citizen but this one looks pretty sharp.
God forbid they make a profit
@@saucybits They wouldn't be here if they made a loss.
Drum intro is 100% Beck, Loser...
Can you please spare us the sctick?
Shithouse watch
Nope - minimal functionality and 41mm is too small. Price is ridiculous...
How big is your wrist that 41 is too small lol
There is a market for big, cheap watches with lots of buttons on them. Usually not very good watches but they sell a lot of them. @@andresmarini5044

Once again Citizen USA screws it’s customers. They refuse to distribute the thinner monocoque version of this watch. Titanium, 12mm thin, 40 mm, flat sapphire crystal and has much better WR : 300mm which is 150% better than the 200mm WR on this chunky mutt. You cannot purchase the better model in the United States. Citizen USA takes an inferior design and sell it for more money than the superior watch they refuse to sell to you. Way to go Citizen USA!!
…and then trot out the clowns to hype this monstrosity …🤡🤡🤡
