Really captivating (admittedly, I’m heavily biased... I owe a tremendous debt to the A-10 and her drivers). I particularly appreciate the cohesive mentor/mentee interplay here. Good stuff. Fly safe :)

Depends. You can learn how to pilot it with the simulator, but dealing with g-forces is a whole ‘nother level of training you have to pass. Not so much with slow ground attack aircraft like the A-10, but certainly for high speed fighters like the F-16, F-18, F-22 etc.
@@JesusFriedChrist the F22 can pull way more g's than the A10, with the A10 you're way less likely to pass out before your wings break off.
It's weird how chill it feels to watch this even tho it's 2 A-10s exploding stuff up
Im 98% sure i was GCI during this based on his location and the time. He never tuned in while i was on but it was still awesome seeing him on there!
Some more tips:
1. Turn external lights off when in the AO ( properly called Fence In). ED NVG lights when!?
2. Adjust the cockpit lighting for night time. You had day HUD mode in night plus your CM/RWR/MFDs were burned holes in my eyes
3. Boresight the mav between runs for quicker acquisition
4. the "T" crosses on your TPOD means you have the IR laser and regular laser on. See the "BTH" on the 2nd down right OSB button
5. When under 12k AGL get into a habit of dropping 3-4 flares 1 sec apart for IR SAMs (CMS program J or K)
6. Use Tacview to debrief your flights
7. Markpoints are sick for rippling mav and JDAMs on multiple targets in one pass
8. When you know what your targets are you can slew with the mav instead of using the tpod the going back to the mavs
9. Use the weapons profiles to swap between without using the DMS page
10. Land by "fyling the donut" using the AOA indicator on the left side of the HUD

You're gonna have to buy the A-10C II upgrade when it releases before the end of the month. Adds a few weapons and a HMCS (Head mounted cueing system)

Man, I ordered a HOTAS a few weeks ago, got it, and loved playing DCS for 3 days before the thing died on me. Sending it back and gonna try to find a different one to order but it was fun while it lasted.
I feel like armies could use this as training. Some prolly do.
The A10 module for DCS was one of the first high-fidelity modules, and a version was made for the US Air National Guard I believe.

Hey man do you plan on updating your cockpit for the new A-10C II with the AN/ARC-210 and JHMCS pannel
People underestimate how difficult the A10 is to learn. For something with basically no sensors of it's own other than your eyeballs, it still has a *ton* of HOTAS functionality to learn, and because it can carry quite a wide variety of stuff, there's a lot of weapon deployment stuff to learn. Don't underestimate the complexity of this package. And there's going to soon be even more with the update.
Hello all - remember although there are lots of buttons. the plane is designed to be flied. So don't let the complexity put you off DCS! If you can commit to it, it's one of the most rewarding game out there!

Dude, watching this and learning about how accurate these planes are is incredible. I would never want to be on the other team if I saw any American airforce come by. Like the job WILL get done no matter what, it may just take 1-2 flybys....

Just started DCS a few days ago, steep learning curve but what a blast and then I decided to pop the Quest 2 headset on and try it in VR. All I can say is, WOW !! I wasn't expecting much as MSFS 2020 doesn't run very well for me with the Quest 2 ( it did early doors but for some reason since the sim and the quest has updated it just doesn't like connecting and looks awful graphically ) . DCS in VR is soooo smooth and only slightly blurry , the immersion is incredible. I tried using the touch controllers but found that a bit cumbersome so I swapped to my Thrustmaster TCA joystick and keyboard and it is just amazing, hard but amazing. There is tons to learn, how to read the HUD , switching to targets and weapons and controlling the plane, absolutely love it. I need to spend some money on a plane or two but will probs wait for a steam sale as they look a bit pricey. Time to master the SU 25t and the PD-51.
I wouldn't worry too much about minor mistakes. I'm still trying to FIND targets with my F18 Tpod. I went 1 for 4 with the GBU in a training mission, and it wasn't even the one the JTAC designated. Lol
Just out of curiosity, what PC specs should I have to run DCS at that visual quality? On my system, steam DCS looks sub par and my graphics hardly handle it despite having a strong PC.

Are the people on the radio (like in 24:04) actual players, or is it just a thing added to the game to make it seem a lot more immersive?
Those are other players. Most servers use an external voice programm called SRS for communication via the inbuild cockpit radios/frequencies. AI voice exists but is very limited.
That's a person, probably on DCS SRS.

I flew my A-10A today on the cold war server. Single handedly took out 4 groups of enemies and 2 airfields in 3 sorties. A-10 is a beast!

I'm new to all of this, so the left screen is the gimbal pod on wing of the A-10, because it can lose the target because the plane's turning etc. but what is filming the right screen?

Coming from a content creator myself, I have had peers and viewers tell me that uncut video is boring. He also probably does it for lack of action/commentary. The dead silence would be boring. Granted I would like to see more of what happens when he dies.
