Hi Mitch! Ah, you are among the few who watched the video far enough to see what’s coming. I’m happy to report the project is coming along well. Thanks for watching!
Another great video Martin, thanks! Instead of grease on the pivot points and locking pins I’ve always used a spray dry lube on all those points every time I grease the loader pins, about every 8-10 hrs. That’s a pretty hostile environment that sees dirt, sand, etc falling all over those areas, and I figured dry lube would be less likely to attract and hold on to such abrasives. Either way works, just as long as it gets done. I’m pretty religious about keeping mine lubed, because when I met my wife she had a 5 year old 47 hp Branson she bought new and her husband at the time (an engineer no less) didn’t own a grease gun. It took me a week of hammering and two cans of WD-40 and Liquid Wrench to break those pins and pivot points loose, and ever since then any tractor I own the SSQA gets oiled like clockwork. Experience is indeed a great teacher. Keep making these excellent videos my friend, you do us all a great service! 👍
Awesome video Martin with some great tips on the SSQA. I don't have one on any of the Kubota's but I do on the New Holland skid steer...and yes, maintenance is important even if its only in the form of grease !! Dang, if you aren't meticulous in all your videos....
Thanks, Wendell! When I bought the L3901 I knew I wanted the SSQA option on the loader. The small trade off in lift capacity is well worth the added functionality. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYMyWay Oh heck yeah, I agree 100% Martin. I didn't have the option on either of the last two Kubotas because I bought them used from the same old buddy that didn't purchase them with it. And my first one I bought new in '82 with no loader. Sure is nice on the skid steer changing between the two types of buckets, a home made rock or root digger and the forks.
Hi Martin. Almost like you read my mind about my L3901. One side has always been more difficult to engage/disengage. I will absolutely be following your tip during my next greasing session. Thanks buddy and good health to you. Michael
Hi Michael! I was surprised at how much difference it made on mine to lubricate and adjust the mechanism. Now both operate smoothly and easily. Thanks for watching!
If all goes according to plan, this one should be VERY cost effective. I did some more testing today with a more permanent rig and confirmed that the linear actuator will both lock and release the SSQA, so I’m getting excited about it! Thanks for watching!
We actually got our Grand L 3560 with the hydraulic power option for the skid steer. I just grease the zerts every 10 hours when I do the test of the loader and tractor. However, I am going to ask the dealer on what you did with your manual handles when I have it on for the 50 hour service coming up soon. I asked the dealer if I could see them do it so I understand how everything works 💪 👷♂️ better. I'm adding this toy list of questions. LOL.
“I start by removing the locking pin pivot bolt… I proceed to drop the washer between the bucket and the quick attach plate”. There, Martin. I fixed your script for you. You’re welcome.
Love your channel , great info . Giving me the knowledge to to DIY. I’m pretty handy with a wrench but some basic functional knowledge is a great resource. TYDIY
Martin great minds thing a like. I'm working on building the same thing. So I don't have to get off the tractor with my bad foot to attache different things. By any chance are you using a12v Linear Servo that's what I'm using? Looking forward to seeing how you make yours. Later
Hi Mech! It’s a 12V linear actuator with built-in limit switches and has the right amount of travel to lock and unlock the SSQA. Looking forward to seeing your solution. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYMyWay I figured the cheep way was to use a heavy duty Linear Servo. This will be a whole cheaper then going with the hydraulic hoses and fittings Later.
@@DIYMyWay I did not Martin. Well perhaps, but I may have worded my question incorrectly. Your answer is more to the field of work. I figure you were an engineer or a medical Dr. Whatever your past you are very thorough and a joy to follow. We all need a neighbor or friend like you to keep us cobbler’s straight. 😳
Oooo. I see a linear actuator operated quick attach in the works. Very Cool. You wont even have to get off of the tractor!
Exactly, Marty. Worked on it more today and I think it’s gonna work well. Thanks for watching!
And Martin leaves us with a tease!!!!👊🏻😁 great maintenance tips! Thanks for sharing!!
Hi Keith! Yep, couldn’t resist. Made more progress today so I’m optimistic I’ll have an inexpensive SSQA remote control soon. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYMyWay thankfully the engineer just can’t retire! 😜😇😎
I put hose over the handles of my ssq. Best idea I had. Gonna need to heat up the hose to fit over the handles, but will shrink when cool.
Great info and video, Martin. That's definitely a place where you don't want a catastrophic failure. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks David!
Oh man!!! Martin that is going to be a great upgrade. Looking forward to the project. Grease makes the world go round. Thanks for the video 😁👍🚜💨🍳

As always, great tips Martin. Most of us can never do too much maintenance nor can we do it too well.
Thanks, Gary! Right you are, sir. Have a great week!
I had never thought about greasing the points you did in this video. Great tips!! Thanks! Cheers, Martin!
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!

Your too kind, Dan! Thanks you for the encouraging words! Dry lube! I like the idea! Thanks for watching!
Great Tips!!! Going to check my adjustments thoroughly tomorrow when my Stump Bucket arrives!
Thanks, Dwayne! Enjoy your new stump bucket! That should be a lot of fun.
Some great tips Martin. I will do that with my SSQA and see if it helps make it a bit easer. Have a good week! See ya!
You might have saved me breaking something. Ive been hammering on the handle to get it up and down. Ill get a grease gun today
Always enjoy, you’re spot on. Have a good rest of your week.
Glad you enjoyed it, David! Thanks for watching!

That hint of the next project could be a money maker for you. As far as I know, there's no cost effective aftermarket products to do that.

Another good one!
can't wait to see it I ve been thinking about something like this for a loader
Now I like my John Deere quick attach even better. No maintenance.
Thanks! This was helpful. Though mines a newer one and a bit different
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!

What about using spray can of lithium grease?
That should work. Thanks for watching!
Martin what was your full time money career? I’m guessing, but probably wrong!
Hi Stanley! I was in telecommunications and IT for the majority of my career. Did you guess right? Thanks for watching!

I've never yet seen one of your videos that weren't helpful. Especially the video about carrying a chainsaw in the chipper!!
Thank you! Glad to hear it. BTW, I have never carried my chainsaw in my wood chipper or have a made a video on it. Thanks for watching!
😂I think Ed @ MCG was the one feeding his chainsaw to his chipper.
