Just keep in mind, if that's currently a gen 3, I'm pretty sure the crank has a different tooth between the 4. So you would have to buy a new crank position sensor and your computer would need to be re programmed for the different tooth as well. Whatever the case is it will be easier to get the same tooth crank that you currently have if replacing
For shits and giggles, check the flex plate for cracks... pull the inspection cover and see if you can see any metal shaving or the flex plate itself ...if you have one of those small cameras even better stick that in there and look
my pit use to shake his head alot like lola and it was mites in his ear had to dilute white vinegar with water and wipe it a few time also he malted ALOT and his loose fur would be all over his nose and face which didnt help the head shaking lol
If you ever question a light only thing you literally have to do is just put power to it a noid light is only 12v. Sounds like a purge solenoid or some kind of blend door binding up, you guys see & hear rain & think tsunami. If it was a catastrophic problem your going to have catastrophic symptoms no oil pressure, actual load noises, improper running, that engine sounds good you want to rebuild & spend money. Ls engines are much tougher than people think it’s the son of the best engine ever made.. SBC for life
Did you swap over the stiffer valve springs that go with that cam? Did it have stiffer valve springs for the cam from the start? Why not get the Tahoe set up as a reliable daily then build and turbo the Colorado? That way you can use the Tahoe to tow the Colorado to races like the back halfs or air strip they run in Tucson. My friend does that with his turbo 5.3 s10, he tows it with his Tahoe out of town. We been to Tucson a lot and LS fest in Vegas last year.
Ya know you can put a Ls1 Crank & aftermarket Ls1 Rods & pistons also Bore it out to make it bigger cubic inches 🤷 Make that thing a Monster cause why Not
Rods are what you need out of a gen 4… and a good set of pistons even if you gap the rings you will end up with piston damage when running a turbo setup….i did a gen 4 rods and a set of wiseco pistons and that motor is about 10 years old still running
If you get piston damage while running “good” pistons and a turbo means your tune sucks, you run shitty fuel or have the wrong plugs. Either way you’re detonating.
I would make sure it’s not an exhaust leak broken header tube or a sprite plug wire arcing. I’ve had to same noise if it was a rod bearing you could’ve seen piston hitting the head
Could it possibly be the same thing that happened to your Blazer? Could it be the flywheel or pressure plates or even starter housing or rubbing against each other or even making some kind of contact with the bell housing

I’m pondering on the camshaft bearings. If that’s the sensor that went out,maybe there’s a lot of slack and the camshaft has a wobble and vibrates enough to get to close to the sensor,could also be the crush bearing on the crankshaft,and crank is moving forward and backwards way to much. Look at the flywheel bolts. They can back out and it will sound like a knock.

I bet the cam is toast. I posted a vid 6-7 months ago about it. Pushrod is bent and causes the lifter to torch the cam lobe.
Gen 4 crank is 58x . Won’t run in a gen 3 ECU. I have a gen 4 crank for sale if you really want one though
