An idea for future Anime are both from the same author: One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100. OPM is easier to watch, because it is about a grown up adult facing problems and the other is about someone from middle-school facing problems, so inherently any problems they will face or see will be affecting children, mostly, and therefore can be more emotional to watch. OPM is also something that a lot of Westerners got heavily in to because it was a parody of the superman (before Invincible) tropes.
Lust: Killed by a man protecting the one he loves Gluttony: Eaten by another Homunculus Sloth: Killed after finally trying, but too late to make a difference Envy: Killed himself out of humiliation after someone found out what he was truly jealous of Wrath: Died peacefully after brutally destroying everyone in his path Pride: Defeated after he threw away his pride as a homunculus Greed: Gave up everything to sacrifice himself to save everyone else.
Actually greed is the only one that got everything he wanted and died protecting it and wrath died in a fight with a man that was able to make peace with his own wrath
"A heart made full metal" is one of the best ending lines of any show. Makes you realize the entire name has nothing to do with his automail, its always been a reference to the trauma and hardship he had to overcome.
Father saying "I just wanted to be free" is such a powerful moment to me. When a much younger Hohenheim asked him what he wanted, he said that he would be happy if he could just leave his flask. I don't think he was lying. The problem with Father is that he never saw anything but the flask. He only focused on everything he couldn't do, everything he didn't have, and everything he didn't know. He constructed a prison for himself that he would never escape from.
Couple of fun things: 1. Every time we see someone go through the doorway, we get a glimpse of their Portal of Truth. Each person’s is different due to the different experiences they had, and you can see changes on Ed’s on each subsequent visit. Father’s Door is completely blank, indicating he “learned” nothing. 2. A little thing, but during Father’s tirade against Truth the only question that doesn’t get a response is “What’s wrong with seeking perfection?” Because there’s nothing inherently wrong with it, just the method that Father used. 3. Ed & Winry don’t kiss because the author said she sucks at drawing it. 4. Ed’s hair & outfit at the end are the same style as Hohenheim’s. And I’m joining the list of people hoping you react to the bloopers. They’re hilarious.
No matter how many times I watch the scene with Hohenheim at Trisha's grave, I still cry every time. Great job on the cosplay, y'all! Thanks for letting us join you on this ride.
I love the cosplay. Looking forward to watching you later. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood has a beautiful ending that feels complete and satisfying. I hope you watch the Bloopers.
I recommend Cowboy Bebop for the next anime to react to (if there is going to be another), it’s got one of the best sound tracks in anime! I know you guys will vibe to the music in that show, and it’s also got one of the best English dubs too
I think it's a neat touch how Truth sounds more like Ed as it fades away right at the end. There's actually a short comic at the end of manga, showing Trisha and Hohenheim meeting together in the afterlife. It's really sweet. If you remember was back in episode, 20-something, Ed promised Winry that the 'next time you cry they're going to be tears of joy, and Al and I will be back in our original bodies'. And guess what. This is the first time she's cried since then :) So a fun fact about Ed's proposal line, at some point after the series ended, someone (i think like, a small local museum in Japan) hosted a contest for the most romantic proposal line and someone submitted Ed's line and it WON. It was then disqualified when it came out where the line came from and wasn't original. But it's still funny to me. Oh I do hope the blooper reactions get posted here eventually
One thing I LOVE about this show is that if you go back to the very first episode, you will see how much Ed has grown and same with Winry. From young kids who didn't know what they were getting into, to teens, to full grown adults at the end.. and finally with young kids of their own. Their full lives shown pretty much
Hoehenheim is probably up there with the top most tragic characters in anime, however his ending is still one of my favs. Him dying with a smile on his face is incredibly impactful. It is probably one of my favorite emotional moments in anime.
I really love how father essentially views the concept of a limitation as a type of cage. Spending so much life in a flask put him in a stage where even being able to die was a sense of being trapped
FMAB truly is a masterpiece; a work of art. I think one of the biggest indications of art is it's ability to be analyzed totally different by different people as time goes on. I doubt this was intentional, but it's kind of beautiful the way episode 63 ends with Hoenheim being so proud of his sons. They are his complete pride and joy at the end of his life. A perfect reflection of Father casting aside his "Pride" to create the first homunculus, and also in a young boy named Selim. The story comes full circle, like the symbol of the homunculi, the ouroboros, the serpent swallowing it's own tail. The symbol for the complete infinite cycle; all is one, and one is all. That's my interpretation anyways.
I just can't wait until: 1. Arianna and Maple react to The Legend of Vox Machina 2. The Legend of the Mighty Nein comes out 3. Arianna and Maple react to The Legend of the Mighty Nein 4. Arianna cosplays as Beauregard
In case you want more fma-related content, there are the 4 fmab OAVs, the sacred star of milos animated movie (basically standalone)... And of course FMA 2003 (by the way, in 2003 Lust is a more important and developed character)!
The "truth" is actually your own ego. Everything you need no matter what your situation and hardships are in your life is already inside of you and not outside. You look for the answers everywhere, but within yourself. That's the lesson and that's what the truth is. Facing your own ego.
Fun fact about the ending, the only reason the author didn't had Ed and Winry kissing at the end was because she didn't know how to draw people kissing
A few episodes ago you guys were theorizing that the ending was gonna be tragic. Well, there's another version of the Full Metal Alchemist anime before Brotherhood. That anime aired while the manga(the material the anime was based off of) was still ongoing. That version of the anime ended up not choosing to wait until the manga finished and kinda wrote their own events around the midway point and that conclusion was tragic as hell. Basically, in the other version of the FMA anime, the power of alchemy came from an alternate reality that was basically the normal earth without alchemy like ours is. And at the end, Edward ended up sacrificing his body to return Al's his and he ended up transferring over to the other world without alchemy(his dad ended up there as well as Envy). And the show ended with Al swearing to find some way to bring back his brother and Winry was alone. There was a movie followup where it ended up mostly being a happy ever after situation though Ed and Al's dad still ended up dead, just in a much more gruesome way.
After finishing FMAB, nothing will ever truly measure... But there are a lot of amazing anime out there, one the has helped me a LOT is Haikyuu, a anime about sports, volleyball to be specific!
An interesting detail: Every alchemist that opens their Doorway To Truth has a different engraving on it that is a reflection of their knowledge and how they view alchemy. At the very end, the Dwarf's doorway is completely blank. After everything he did, he only took knowledge, he himself learned NOTHING.
I just started watching it yesterday, that part where they merge the dog and the little girl together. That made me cry quite a bit I’m not gonna lie, this show is messed up a little bit but it’s beyond good. Wish I would’ve watched it sooner😂
Y’all’s cosplay killed it called the lust because it just kinda works as for Ariana she can be like the other for characters with that costume just depends on how the hair is done, but again y’all killed it and it was a fun ride rewatch this amazing show with y’all.
Brotherhood is the original story of the manga. The 2003 one was where the author wanted the anime to have a different story. But yes, the ending of the 2003 version had me upset!
Hahaha! In a show with so many post-credit scenes, and even scenes that played *during* the credits, you fail to watch the *final* credit scene of the entire series, which, it is extremely common to have final little tidbits of happily ever after resolution even in shows which *don't* have plenty of post-credit scenes! ROFL! Oh, thank goodness for your patreon fans pointing it out! :D
The series may follow the brothers, which are great of course.... but Hohemheim was the actual hero of the story ... tragic past, self-sacrificed his time with his wife and sons to save hem and stop the homunculus, set up the counter offensive over time, and protected them during the final fight.... He was Amazing, and Ed loooks soo much like him in the end.... Literally among the Best, if not THE BEST Ending to a story
One of Brotherhood's biggest (and most confusing) missteps is its failure to adapt an additional scene at the end of the manga that shows Hohenheim and Trisha finally reuniting and fulfilling their promise with each other to be together again in death...
"You brought this outcome upon yourself." Homunculus's deepest aversion was being "bound", and his deepest wish was to "experience" everything the world had to offer. He was extracted from "everything", and wasn't able to "experience". He interpreted that as a form of binding, and mistook his flask as the same kind of binding. At the same time, looking to humans, he saw their desires as flaws, as "sins". They were bound by their physical forms, their mortal lives, and their "sinful" desires. The concept of the seven sins have a contrast with the seven virtues. The number is irrelevant, but one interpretation is that sin and virtue are two faces of the same aspect. Note that Truth refers to them not as sins, as Homunculus does, but as desires. The capacity to "experience" necessarily requires having desire, though those desires can manifest as sin or virtue depending on the context. In seeking to obtain and consume what he called "God", Homunculus was ironically trying to become "everything" again, so he got what he wanted. It doesn't matter if you "take" everything into you or everything "takes" you into it, the outcome is the same. "One is all. All is one." My personal interpretation of "perfection" is that it is not "imperfect". That which is "imperfect" can (and often seeks to) improve. In contrast, that which is "perfect" neither can nor needs to improve. It's already perfect. If you add or subtract anything to or from it, it wouldn't be perfect anymore. You can't name or even describe it, because that would be "adding" to it. Truth never explicitly names itself, instead listing words others have used to refer to it.
I would strongly recommend watching the 2003 run of Fullmetal Alchemist, if you can. It goes differently than Brotherhood does, but its still pretty damn good.
How did they stopped the video when the outro started.Who doesn't let the outro play all the way through of the LAST EPISODE. That's how you get the Feels 🤭
I hope you guys do more anime, fma is my favorite anime ever. Seeing you guys laugh, cry, and all around enjoy it is awesome. Definitely do more anime!!! Cowboy Bebop is another one of my favorites and it’s only a season
This was awesome, you guys should def watch FMA 2003 the story is alot more personal and as I get older I appreciate it more and more, it doesn’t follow the manga however the creator helped flesh out the story for this series which i find to be darker and alot more grounded. Ps. If the Nina episode got you in Brotherhood, its way worse in FMA 2003
In OG manga panel winry and ed are with their babies and only May and Al... its a family picture so its more intimate so the fact that May appears next to Al in the picture means she is already family... if you know what I mean... Al and May make a cute couple...
The truth saying you beat me to Ed confused me for awhile until I thought about what the truth said when he first met him specifically ”I am you” Ed thought he could solve everything with alchemy and probably thought he couldn’t live without it, so when he gave up his alchemy he found everything he needed Also random dark thoughts the truth in the portal appears with the sacrifice so is the one in her portal just a while void with floating organs
Ed had a bunch of alchemy on his door, Mustang had the symbol for Fire Alchemy (which was also on Hawkeye's back), but the Dwarf/Father? He had nothing.. because he knew nothing, and would be nothing in the end. On Mrs. Bradly, given how Wrath.. her husband, in his last words pretty much said that she knew everything that being in his position would entail.. kind of does lead me to believe that she knew that he was much different than other men.. and maybe that even Salim was different from other kids (just because Salim claimed that she didn't know, doesn't mean that she actually didn't). It's never specifically stated, but just from context clues and Wrath's last words about her. It's what I've always thought at least, although I don't think she herself is an actual homunculus. But what a perfect ending IMO, those last words by Ed are so impactful to this day
The little boy that Pride has now become is fine. They're rightly worried about him, but he's no threat anymore. So long as his "mother" raises him right. And, unlike the two Homonculi that were her "family," unbeknownst to her, she's actually a genuinely and thoroughly good person. Selim will turn out just fine. And...I'm sure someone will eventually take care of the nipple-head problem.
Something that may amuse you, if you aren't already aware, the reason there isn't a kiss is because the mangaka had trouble drawing kisses and so went with a hug.
"Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is." - Albert Camus One way to look at this series is it being a fight against the absurd. "The Absurd" is the clash between meaninglessness and meaning. "Truth" or "God" in this series can be seen as The Absurd itself manifested into some physical entity. ED faced the absurdity of life when he realized he couldn't actually bring his mother back. Albert Camus talks about the things you can do in this moment. 1. Commit physical s**cide- Which Camus says is pointless because you giving in to the absurd. 2. Commit Philosophical s**cide- Which is believing in Religion or Science or Social practices as some kind of ultimate meaning. Camus thinks that's running away from the absurd or accepting the absurd which is also pointless. 3. You can acknowledge the absurd and continue living knowing there's nothing at the end of the rainbow. He gives an example of someone who rolls a giant ball up a hill and when he gets to the top, the ball rolls back down. The guy does this for eternity. Camus say you must imagine the guy, happy. instead of committing s**cide(scarifying himself for his brother) or Philosophical s**cide (keeping his alchemy). He destroying his alchemy. ED accepted reality and acknowledged he's just human. He acknowledged The Absurd. That's how I look at it.

The truth saying you beat me to Ed confused me for awhile until I thought about what the truth said when he first met him specifically ”I am you” Ed thought he could solve everything with alchemy and probably thought he couldn’t live without it, so when he gave up his alchemy he found everything he needed
Also random dark thoughts the truth in the portal appears with the sacrifice so is the one in her portal just a while void with floating organs

I love your cosplay maple! 🖤❤️
Did anyone explain that Hawkeye and the new Führer Grumman are granddaughter and grandfather?
the only issue I have with this show was we didn't get the kiss at the end
Something that may amuse you, if you aren't already aware, the reason there isn't a kiss is because the mangaka had trouble drawing kisses and so went with a hug.
9:48
It's a FMAB Ep:4 reference?
Maple looks great as Lust, wow!
The cosplay is perfection!
Oh, I do like what I see there. Love the hair, Arianna.
Digging the cosplay, ladies.
Fun fact: the only reason they didn’t kiss in the end is because the artist said she was good at drawing kissing scenes.
"Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is." - Albert Camus
One way to look at this series is it being a fight against the absurd.
Omg..... that cut to the dog, lol 😆
