Your Gran looks so stylish, she stole the show. I can see why you decided to move closer to family! Hugging our loved once are such a blessing. My parents are 5000km away and I miss them every single day.
Oh my goodness Hermione, you did an amazing job with this small but amazing room, and the new paint really does brighten the whole area up, I really love those throw pillows, the two colors together are so amazing. I'm with your Nan, she is so right it looks beautiful, I love seeing your Nan she is so sweet. I agree with one of the other comments, Command strips are really good to use and the curtain rod hooks are amazing. Thanks again Hermione for another wonderful video, take care and I look forward to your next one, sending love and hugs, bye for now.😄😘
Hi ! You could add voile curtains to the window, just get some lengths of wood and attach to the top of the window on the wall using no nails and perhaps a few screws and then attached to rail 🙂
Yes they work well. Just lightweight curtains which I am sure you do not want heavy ones in that room. I think with the small room maybe just go with the windows as is. More open feeling.
I was thinking the same. I used the hooks only in a matte silver finish and used cafe rings to clip on to a sheer panel. Even a vintage tablecloth from a resale shop would work as a curtain.
I saw just this week on another UA-cam channel someone using the new Command broom/mop holders as curtain rod holders-- really neat idea, but possibly expensive (I think they run about $8 each here in the US). Regular command hooks might be more affordable and just as effective, depending on the type.
To try putting curtains up maybe u could try an impact drill since it's an outside wall? Alternatively try command hooks with a lightweight rod & curtain
Love your nan and the cousins are cute! The room looks great...so much brighter and open! Regarding curtains; there are curtain rods that you can mount on the ceiling. If you can drill into the ceiling then hang your curtains from there!
You could try self adhesive curtain rod holder but make sure you get some that can hold alot of weight. Since the curtain is by a bed they may get pull on by mistake. I saw one on Amazon that claim it could hold 22lb. They also sale curtain rod holder that you attach from the ceiling. Dont know if that work for you but you can try that also. Other wise you need to buy or rent a drill with masonry drill bit if your wall is brick or cement . if you have a drill you can just buy the bits. Predrill the hole then install curtain rod older. You may need to change the screw that you have but that base on your wall. They sale tons of screw thats for masonry walls. I live in old fl home where the wall are cement blocks and thats what i do on. Also it could be where she tried to install the bracket for the curtain rod. It could of been on metal plate and if you extended it out more you have better luck. I say try to hammer a long nail in and you can guess what back there. I had that problem with one window they put a metal corner piece around it i had to move where i wanted the bracket until i found a spot where it didnt have it. I do the nail check now if i can't get it all the way in its wood i need to predrill, if goes in easy hollow wall need support and base on the wall and weight will determine what type i buy. If it didnt go deep enought could be metal since thats over drywall but under plaster then all you can do is mover it to side. Sorry for the long comment but since i didnt know what type of wall you had i just gave you all of my idea
Command strips/hooks - get curtains with tabs and use strips of white sheeting torn raw to tie the curtains onto the hooks....will lend a nice bohemian look to the room....
It's funny what you say about the popcorn ceiling, because in my country it has never gone out of fashion. Apparently it's a matter of practicality, if you are going to rent out a house to God knows who, or you have a lot of kids, you're going to have that not only in the ceiling but all over the walls. Smooth walls are only for houses where that won't happen haha
A suggestion for you Hermione, how to put curtains up 🙃 have you thought about the idea of a shower rod or shower bar? You just need to messure how long you need for each window. It makes no mark and you need no tools/brackets to heng it up. Just a thought!!
You can hang the rod with command hooks, maybe paint the hook black to match the rods so it doesn’t stand out too much or hide the hook behind the curtains
I’m sure you have already thought of this and considered it but just in case- there are drill bits that are made for outside walls. Like for concrete/ brick/ stucco/ siding/ etc. you could use a regular bit for the inside wall and switch to the special bit for the outside wall.
Hanging curtain from the ceiling assuming it isn't also concrete - I've used 3 different types and love them all for different reasons. I'm in NAm but I'm sure GBR has similar options available - UrbanRed Flexible Ceiling Curtain Track (String plastic) - Industrial pipe curtain rods (metal) - Room/Dividers/Now Ceiling Track (metal)
Hello Hermione! I think for the curtains you could use command strips. Since it's a guest bedroom, I believe you won't push and pull the curtains every single day 😊 Love from Portugal 💖
I'm looking at using leftover copper pipe from a DIY closet shelf to suspend suspended sheers from my deck ceiling where no wall is available. Maybe an iron or copper pipe could work? I've also got a bracket kit in black bought on Amazon before resolving a drywall/ exterior wall headache. In my house exterior drywall is crumbly and they fall down no matter what anchor is used. It might be worth using a stud finder to see if what's behind the window is the entire wall or just the exterior window casing and you could go up a few centimeters.
For the curtain I would suggest a rod that can be attached to the ceiling, maybe something minimal so it’s barely noticeable. Overall, I think you did an amazing job!!! And I love your Nan.
you could put up hooks and use glue that will stick the hooks to the wall. I have used Gorilla glue outside on concrete walls and they are still up. The room looks so much better.
Wonderful video, as always!!! Your cousins are precious! What are their names again? I didn’t catch them. AND your Nan is so lovely!! She’s beautiful and I LOVE her hair!! You’re so lucky to have her!
I’ve heard of people using Command Hooks as curtain rod “holders”. Of course the curtain rod and the curtains would have to be lighter weight. There should be videos on UA-cam. Alexandra Gater, I believe, has done it.

With a very strong drill and special mesh you should be able to go through the wall for the rod
It all looks so nice, my favorite of course is the amazing job Nan did on the door handle 😀. Your cousins are super cute! Much love from California ❤❤❤ P.S. I agree about the Command Hook curtain rod holders, they work very well.
Drill in the ceiling and use the ceiling to hang your curtain rod, could even have DIY (vegan?) leather thingies to hang the rod from the ceiling, the height will make the room look even bigger.
I don't see why you can't drill holes in the wall. My grandma's house has curtains on every window and the walls are absolutely massive. And come to think of it, every house or flat in my country as curtains, so anything seems to be "drill-able". But maybe ask someone with a strong grip and a steady hand. Otherwise, go for command strips/hooks or even drill the rod onto pieces of wood, command strip them to the wall and paint the wood the same colour as the wall (we're not allowed to drill holes in the walls as renters, where I live). Oh and don't doanything to the desk, it is so beautiful like that!

Your cousins are adorable as is your nan. I like what you did with the room... but I have to ask, does it really need the sofa? I mean it takes up space and you could have a bigger bed instead....
Curtain rods: Either the kind that hang from the ceiling or a very long tension rod that can go from wall to wall. The cousins are so very sweet and it's always good to see Your Nan! The room turned out lovely!
Curtains: you just need the right drill and drill bit! The wall is likely brick, concrete, or some sort of stone. You need an impact driver (also called a hammer drill) and a masonry bit. Then it’s super easy to drill into. For screws, you’ll also need to make sure to buy masonry screws - look for TapCons or any screws that say they are for masonry/brick
Perfect advice for Hermione, Sophia! We live in an earth-sheltered home and the walls, ceiling and floors are concrete. That's exactly how we make holes in the walls for curtain rods, artwork, etc.
I always look forward to seeing your nan in your videos. She’s so lovely! 🌷Great job as usual, Hermione! Edited to add: And the lovely cousins! They’re so stinking cute.
Your style is so different from other influencers at the moment, bc you use what you and your family have already and thrift. Also your colour scheme is so unique, always reminds me of spring. 🥰 Love the outcome, your makeovers are more realistic and really on a budget and it’s nice to see what can already be done with small changes and hard work 💪🏼
Wonderful makeover, Hermione! Love your little cousins! What sweeties. The largest command hooks are great for hanging up curtain rods. Just make sure you get the ones that can bear the most weight. They won’t look all that stylish, I know. Perhaps a quick spray paint if a color you fancy. 💕, Kate
Well aren't your cousins adorable! If they are anything like I was att heir age, they're probably thinking ... "oh no if Hermione can do this in one day, that means I have to tidy my room!" You've definitely inspired me to do a bit more work in my tiny box room / study. Off to Homebase it is :)
Hermione, tou have cute cousins and a lovely nan. The room looks amazing. I will be decorating my back bedroom later in the year, it has a deep pink carpet which is too good to replace. The room is very dark because it is north facing and my mom suggested pale grey for the walls but I am thinking of white with a touch of pink as I don't want it to look cold.
Hermione, you set things into their places with such deliberate care. Watching you do so, has a calming effect.
Awww thank you 🥰💖 that’s such a lovely comment
Room looks so much better. Nan did a top notch job on the door knob. She’s a doll.
Your Gran looks so stylish, she stole the show. I can see why you decided to move closer to family! Hugging our loved once are such a blessing.
My parents are 5000km away and I miss them every single day.
Oh your Nan is so cute!! The change of this bedroom is amazing ☺️
The fresh coat of paint brightened the room making it feel more spacious.

Well done on the room! And your nan is just lovely, such a stylish lady!
Hi ! You could add voile curtains to the window, just get some lengths of wood and attach to the top of the window on the wall using no nails and perhaps a few screws and then attached to rail 🙂
For the curtain issue, you could use Command Strips curtain rod hooks. It doesn't require any drilling and I heard it works well
Yes they work well.
I came here to say this! Ive used them for curtains in my apartments, And funny I think I got the idea from a Hermione video a few years ago!
I saw just this week on another UA-cam channel someone using the new Command broom/mop holders as curtain rod holders-- really neat idea, but possibly expensive (I think they run about $8 each here in the US). I was thinking the same thing. Saw a UA-cam Video on it.
what a lovely surprise for your Nan she is so lovely
Your grandmother is adorable. Wanna see her more in your videos ❤️
Your cousins are the cutest ever!! So sweet
Aren’t they just? 🥺 I love them so much!
The Lovely Nan made me smile!
To try putting curtains up maybe u could try an impact drill since it's an outside wall?
Alternatively try command hooks with a lightweight rod & curtain
Your grandmother is adorable! I love her!
your nan is soooo cuteeee! what a gem!
Omg. Your NAN is the cutest. She's lovely.
Your cousins are totally adorable! Hope they enjoyed their cameos :)
YOUR COUSINS ARE SO CUTE AWW 🥰
Beautiful results, and such a sweet nan 😍
Wow, great job as always with the room, your nan and cousins are so cute.

Ooooh I love that idea especially with the strips! I think a little bit of texture would look great. Thank you 😃
Oh how I love your Nan’s laugh 😍😍😍😍
Your nan is sooo sweet! And so lovely! I love the paint you used, and don't worry I love painting my wall and never uses masking tape! :)
It’s amazing!!!! The dresses is impressive

For the curtains you can drill into the ceiling instead of the wall! I've seen it done by other diy channels
Your Nan is so sweet and so pretty!
The command strip clipping broom holders are actually great to hold curtain rods if you put them up horizontally. Great renter hack as well.
You and your gran are so precious together! ❤️
Ok how cute is your Nan! 🥰 Nice job on the makeover 👏🏻❤️ (oh yes…and your cousins are too cute as well!! ☺️🙋🏻♀️)
Love it all! 🤠
Nan is so lovely.
How cute is your Nan 😊
My advice on the curtain/window situation is to cover the shades in fabric, or stencil them. Those windows can use some color. Nice job
Hi 👋 Susan how are you doing?
Hope you don’t mind if I subscribe to your channel
Beautiful makeover. If the curtains are light like sheers maybe you could use 3M picture hanging strips
Nan killing the Brasso game

I just saw an ad for curtain rods that mount over the top of blinds. Look up NoNo brackets on Amazon 😊
Cutest cousins ever!
Your Nan is beautiful very mo-dern, love her hair. Oh and the room is lovely; have you tried the command hooks they have large ones they COULD work?!
Your nan is so lovely, Hermione! Hugs to you both all the way from Crete, Greece. Maria x

Ikea use to sell wire with a fastener at each end. You could put the fasteners on opposite walls.
Hello Hermione! I think for the curtains you could use command strips. Since it's a guest bedroom, I believe you won't push and pull the curtains every single day 😊 Love from Portugal 💖
Check out The Sunday Stylist she just hung curtains up using command broom holder.
You could DIY Roman blinds for the windows
I'm looking at using leftover copper pipe from a DIY closet shelf to suspend suspended sheers from my deck ceiling where no wall is available. Maybe an iron or copper pipe could work? P.S. I agree about the Command Hook curtain rod holders, they work very well.
How about to put a rail in the ceiling? and just a long curtain from floor to ceiling on the same side as the lamp.
I love the desk and chair.
You could probably use glue, like Superfix, or adhesive curtain rod hooks?
About the curtains - could you drill into the ceiling and make them full length? Or suspend the poles from the ceiling to the right height some how?
Gorilla tape is amazing. Try it with light weight curtain rod. Or paint PVC pipe for a rod.
Drill in the ceiling and use the ceiling to hang your curtain rod, could even have DIY (vegan?) leather thingies to hang the rod from the ceiling, the height will make the room look even bigger.
omg im OBSESSED with the 'dramatic' t shirt, do u know where ur cousin got it from?!
H&M 😍 she’s got great taste
It must be strange sering your own house next door! I love everything you do. I'd love you to be my personal interior designer!
Command hooks for the curtain rod?
Probably a bit late as only discovered your channel but you can get curtain rods that hang from the ceiling instead of the wall for issues like this
I’m sure you considered this and it isn’t possible, but just thought I would ask if the bed would not fit with the bed head against the window wall?
Could you use Command curtain rod hooks for the curtain?
I don't see why you can't drill holes in the wall. My grandma's house has curtains on every window and the walls are absolutely massive. Can you drill into the ceiling and hang curtains from there?
Maybe you could drill holes into the ceiling and hang the curtains that way? That might also not be possible idk...
Instead of curtains maybe you could use the window film. Something with a nice design. It would give some privacy and look pretty.
You can no nails a wood baton then wait a day then ad your pole ..thats what we did x

Can you motnuse shower rods instead? The ones from Ikea are click ons i believe so no drilling needed…
I notice in this video, and others, that you choose not to remove switch plates / outlet covers, opting instead to mask them. Why?
Roman shades?
You nede a percussion drill

My idea: THE NAN ANTHOLOGY
Curtain rods: Either the kind that hang from the ceiling or a very long tension rod that can go from wall to wall. The cousins are so very sweet and it's always good to see Your Nan! The room turned out lovely!
Agree. The tension rods are a good idea.
Double that!
@@katbar6066 she did say in the video though - any ideas that 'aren't a tension rod' 😂
I was gonna suggest the ceiling, too!
Yes, IKEA has curtain tracks that go on the ceiling.

Large heavy duty command strips. A lightweight dowel and lightweight curtains! 😊
I love this idea 😍 it sounds easy and affordable! I’ll try it next time!
For the curtains, there are curtain rods you can hang from the ceiling.
Never even thought of that thank you so much 😃
Heavy duty command strips
Came here to suggest ceiling mounted curtain rods!
@@HermioneChantal IKEA has some great ceiling mounted rods, I've used them in my house and they're fantastic!
