Just once, in my life, I'd like to meet someone who said that they got sterling care from an NHS mental health service. I don't think such a thing exists. I think in fact, we'd have a better chance of finding a unicorn.
I have to say, from bitter experience, I think you are absolutely right. As I made comment before - if you want to make your mental health worse, try & get the help you need for it. I've been unwell in my head since I was a teenager. They couldn't care less I was borne of two parents who abused my love & care from age 10. They are not concerned with what I had to do to get myself taken away from that "home" into CARE, a place where people actually CARED. The "authorities" are perfectly happy to leave me, continuing to hate myself, as my family were only to happy, to have me hating myself I was programmed & I cannot cure myself. Even if I was medically-qualified, I would still need the help, that I have not got. I try to recover from decades of narcissistic abuse, but living in my head with no support, it's impossible. C-PTSD & EUPD have not only destroyed my life, they have destroyed my future, the "authorities" have destroyed my hope. Forget trying to get an Autism assessment, too. I, on top of all that, have complex physical health problems, a genetic collagen fault, it's been playing havoc for decades with everything with collagen in it, so, that's EVERYTHING, bar the bones. Being chronically-sick, disabled AND mentally-ill, now, there is a pointless existence. And, by Christ, how they MAKE you FEEL it, too. Abjectly, utterly, wretchedly POINTLESS. They don't care unless you're on top of a tall building ready to jump, or dangling off a motorway bridge...you get help in hospital, then NO care coordinator, NO counselling, NO community outreach, NO advocacy, NO CHANCE of recovery.
