"You know what Godzilla reminds me of" 😂. I was surprised by the budget too. I felt invested on the characters and Godzilla was a menace. This is my favorite movie of 2023. Dope review!

In my personal opinion, this movie, as you say “slaps”, because there is no agenda in there. Pure story telling, even have some historical element in it, good and optimal use of CGI and effects, good acting, basically AN ART. Not. A. Tool. For. Propaganda.
It's phenomenal story telling.

The film is wildly overrated. All the best Godzilla special fx are in the trailers and TV spots. The rest of the Godzilla scenes are not at all believable, and sometimes even looks like a guy in a rubber suit. The ending isn't very dynamic either .. lots of scenes with naval ships and splashing water, but no terrifying Godzilla. He basically stands in the (deep?) water flailing his arms and roaring. He does let out another nuclear blast, but it merely smashed the boats with water. He basically has to remain in one sport for their take-down to work .. so that's what he does. It was dull for me.
This movies focused on the human characters and how our protagonist deal with post war trauma which happens to have godzilla in it. So if you're into this movie expecting a $150 CGI monster fest. Sorry to say but this ain't for you.
I think this is an interesting take. I can mostly see why you would think this, but if I may ask, what is your favorite godzilla movie?
@@princeproductions10 There really isn't one... I still think we have yet to see the best version of a Godzilla movie. But I did enjoy the ending to Godzilla (2014) more than GMO. Godzilla's MUTO take down in San Francisco was the modern special FX titan monster fight of my childhood dreams.
Sure they teased us with short monster sequences up until then, but delivered at the big climax. Unlike GMO that teased us with great FX sots and a terrifying Godzilla for the first 2/3rds of the film, and then basically gave us crap for the climax.
The ending needed to be more dynamic, with more peril for the heroes. Instead, It was all very basic, with Godzilla, standing still (for maybe 30 minutes) so that the tug boats could all hook up and drag him to the surface? Then he freezes again mid atomic breath for Koichi to deliver the Bomb Plane into his mouth - telegraphing the ending.
I just didn't like it. So many other movies have done their endings better .. even ones panned by these same critics. It's disingenuous - to say the least.
@@scrumbsciouscrispybuns5026 Even the human story is melodramatic trash. Think about it.. Noriko could not have been more than a few yards from Koichi .. suffering in the ruble. And he - inexplicably - never even bothered to look for her? That's so contrived! And putting all of Tokyo at risk to get the right Mechanic to fix his airplane? Also contrived? Sending out letters to find him? CRINGWORTHY!!!
It really wasn't that great an ending.
@@ericmatthews8497 Damn, yeah i can definitely see where you're coming from. Well in that case, I would definitely check out the godzilla short films posted on the official godzilla youtube channel. Those are lower budget but are JUST godzilla and whoever godzilla is fighting. Now in terms of a high budget godzilla film with more goji in it and good vfx, the closest you'll get is GvK but even the vfx in that are still a bit iffy at times. It's just hard to considering how budgets for films work. I really do appreciate your comment and who knows, maybe GxKTNE is gonna change your mind!
I'm not sure if I like the way Godzilla looks in this film, he looks too fat. In every Godzilla movie they always make him look different, I wish they would be more consistent in the way he looks. Godzilla should look the same in every movie.
thats definitely an interesting perspective, it would definitely be more cohesive if he looked the same but every director/team has their own interpretation of gojis design. Personally, im a big fan of the Heisei era design
Dude the godzilla franchise is vast and has different universes. He's versatile, nothing is consistent about him.
In terms of proportions, this godzilla doesn't even look close to looking "fat" as he has the same proportions as legendary or heisei for example and doesn't look like he has a beer gut like gmk goji does to an extent.
You know with All WOKE film making, the Best picture goes to "The Marvels ! " Fuck No !!!! Give it to the Big GUY !

This movie wasn't that great... Having Godzilla stand still in the water so they can take him out wasn't very dynamic. I found the ending telegraphed and dull.
