What is ogbono soup supposed to taste like? I ordered some from a family-owned African restaurant. It tasted like a very perfumy soap and the taste on my tongue was bitter floral perfume soap. I was so disappointed. I'm convinced they did not make it right. I googled ogbono soup and it said something about the seeds not being fresh and giving that soap taste. It was super bad :( I'm hoping to try it again one day! This looked great :)
I think the one you ate was badly prepared. Probably they used bitter leaf as vegetable, the reason for the bitter taste you got because they didn't precook and parboiled the bitter leaf. Ogbono soup is very delicious and nice, I don't know how to describe the taste for you , but I wish you can eat from someone who can prepare it very well for you, trust me you will enjoy it..

It is suppose to be slimy, and it taste so great aswell. You don't talk down on people's choice of food just because you don't eat it or haven't tried it or not something you use to seeing or eating. You ask questions about the food, and you will be told. It's not fair at all this statement you made. It's an insult to other culture or people that eats it. Your eating sytle is not good because why you take larhe size utensil , plzzzz pour from large size utensil to small bowl , your soup will be not wasting by this way
