I have fitted a set of vx front arms and knucles (almost the same wheel track only 3mm shorter difference) with adjustable z bar and vr/vs coilover struts with vn top hat with vz hsv brakes on my vk. takes a bit to get the wheel alingment set right now i have a lot of adjustment for street and track. if you have the big banger body kit on you can use vr/vs arms and knucles (wider wheel track) but have to the shim kit to fit vt-vz brakes ( had the vr/vs arms on track car and you can get more negative) the only down side to this set up is customs wheels to get the right fit and look.

Awesome vid gents... try removing the strut insert on the oem shock. Lol. Pisser cutting straight through it... they unbolt. No mess no fuss! Unbolt the top bearing plate, unbolt the collar and remove the insert ie it's just a serviceable part, a shock. Cheers boys love the channel. Mirror in glovey is berlina and Calais oem

For future reference if you ever need to do it again... take strut top off, spring off, and the shock canister comes out the top of the strut body 👌🏻

you guys are good enough welders for those. Remembering all the force is downward on that tube, you are basically just affixing it so it doesn't fall off when its lifted.

About to install a set of coil overs to my VT Clubby so was good to see this. Thankfully no welding required on later Commies. I won’t use my “instructions 2.0” for oil soak 😂

So, firstly: Instructions 2.0
Then, I too used to have a VK Wagon, with the Nissan 3ltr (Yes I know it had Holden rocker covers, for the pedants.).
Almost killed me; apparently were famous for the Rear Brakes locking before the Fronts, as I discovered on a trip over the Remutaka Hill!
(Exactly as if I’d pulled the hand-brake on at 60kph & ended up in the opposite lane, facing back the way I’d come from!!!!)
Thanks to whoever was watching over me that night, I didn’t drop over the edge, as it’s a HUGE drop-off , to the bottom!🙏
Make sure that you check into that issue, in case it’s the same for the Sedan!

Cool video boys so cool 308 vk ok the mirror is standard thay all got it and the shokers is a insert take the spring out and you see a big ass nut take it off and you slide the shokers out and there you go no oil 👍🏾🍻

Instructions 2.0 dudes. I believe the VK was the lightest model produced. My Brother had an LM 5000 turns out Larry Perkins built the engine for it. Went like stink !

The VIN will tell you the trim level. 8K19 is Exec, 8L19 is Berlina and 8X19 is Calais.

Unfortunately havnt been able to drive it as yet due to an issue with the set up that we are trying to solve

Yeah you could have gotten that strut out quicker. But that’s how we all learn, and compress the spring, strut top off, there’s a nut to take out the insert of the strut out... all for next time ;)

Hmm I think the instructions 2.0 might have had a warning about cutting into potentially pressurised shock cartridges, but oh well you survived the balls to the wall method

Instructions 2.0. I've never built coilovers. I'm curious to know, is there a lot of play between the outside diameter of the old shock body and the inside diameter of the new tube? I'm not even sure it matters, just thought it might make it hard to have the tubes welded in the same position on the left and right assembly.
Hey mate, they were actually a pretty snug fit, very little play if any, the only place that we think is vital to get right is the bottom face of the shock tower flat against the top lip of the stub axle, which is easy done
Haha - you could have removed the shock from the McPherson strut body and saved a whole lot of mess. Maybe next time!
