A wonderful tribute and honour for Joel to be recognised as one of The Cats Greatest. From the first year he joined the Cats in 2007 winning the NAB Rising Star and Premiership to the ultimate glory of his last game as Premiership Captain in 2022 Joel has been a tough competitor and exceptional role model for the Club. Such an amazing leader and person who has always showcased the footy club and what it means not only to him but most importantly to the fans and this town. I have loved watching his journey and will enjoy the games with my grandchildren who will get to sit in the new stand named after him in their first year.
A great honour for a truly great and humble man. He has been and is an inspiration to all of us and hopefully the Cats will be back well and truly in 2024.
I couldn't think of anyone more deserving than Joel to get a part of the ground named after him. He led the club for many years, and the fact that he bowed out a premiership hero (coupled with a terrific goal in the closing stages) gave a true Cats champion the fairytale ending he richly deserved. I also admire how he proudly mentioned the Cats' AFLW team and how he's been supporting them in their finals campaign.
