    You guys are the best! Could u consider doing a review of the Canon 24-70mm f2..8? Are u using Canon FD Lenses as well?

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks a lot for watching Carsten! And sure thing, I’ll write it down. And not using any of the FD lenses but really would like to test them out. Currently only mainly use the canon 24-70mm f2.8L and Sony 35mm f1.8

    Daaaaamn it's so insane how much is possible with this program :0 ...very inspirational tutorial!
    could you tell me wich settings I must Chance in davinci, when I'm filming with the ITU.709 MATRIX ?

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 роки тому

      Hey Thomas, we’re glad you found it useful! And if you’re using CST your input colour space should be Rec.709 and input gamma should be Slog2 (Thats of course if you’ve shot on slog2). Hope that makes sense

    Great video guys. I wonder how you expose in slog2 for skin? Zebras at 75%?

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 роки тому

      Thanks a lot Miquel! And we use spot metering, and if we want the skin to be well exposed we’ll frame the face in the center until we achieve +2.0 on the exposure meter. Then reframe our shot to the desired composition. We use Zebras just for highlight clipping

      Ah man I just realised I didn’t. Normally I would but I must’ve completely forgotten this time. Thanks for pointing that out Elliot!

      @@meliorstudios After which point would you correct the white balance? And how? :)

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 роки тому

      @@Elliot12367 we’d usually go and adjust white balance after we fix the contrast, balance, and saturation of the image. Then we can get a better idea of the colours in the frames. After that can we then go back to the white balance node and using the offset wheel shift the colour to the opposite direction that’s mostly showing in the frame. So for the A7iii the image naturally comes out very magenta. So shifting the offset toward the green/blues usually helps to fix this

    Can this method be applyed for different looks as well (of cousrse the actual grade would be different, but more the steps and node tree)

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  3 місяці тому

      Yes of course! This is just the base node tree and you can create any look you want

    Always wanted to know how you graded this project. May I ask, did you use the light rays effect for the shot of Mr Rehman running on the treadmill?
    Thank you

    • @meliorstudios

      Hey Daniel, hope you found this helpful! And you’re correct! We used the light ray FX on the treadmill shot to help supplement the light on his back

    i just wondering, why ur footage does not look noisy on low light situation.

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 роки тому

      We exposed correctly with slog2 (+2 stops over) hence why the footage isn’t too grainy. If Slog2 isn’t exposed properly usually if underexposed, the footage is usually quite grainy. Alternatively if I tried to creat a “bright look” with this clip, the footage would look grainy as the footage has a lot of shadows and can’t really push A7iii footage that much . Hope that makes

      @@meliorstudios you do already have a7iv, does your camera setting same as a7iii too? slog 3/itu 709? do you mind sharing it with me?

    did you try slog3 in 8bit

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 роки тому +1

      Yes but slog3 on the A7iii comes out too noisy and it’s really hard to grade compared to slog2. From my experience I don’t recommend using slog3 on the A7iii as it’s not the proper form of slog3
