There is a Psychologist who has taught his Boarder Collie over 1,000 words. If I’m not mistaken the pup has been recognized by for being the smartest dog or something along those lines. I had an Australian Cattle Dog and she was incredible. I could show her a trick one time and she would have it. My thumbnail is of my Shiba Inu, he will go down as the most loyal pup I’ve ever had. He sticks with me no matter what. And he is very sweet.
I had 2 border collies on the farm, they managed sheep and hogs. The 45-pound dogs had total control of 300-pound sows. My wife groomed poodles for 20 years. Today we have a toy rat terrier just as smart as any border collie or poodle. She anticipates my next two moves before I make them, and she runs our household.
This is not the first comparison of Dog IQ and it consistent with other. It is based on the ability to learn a command in the fewest number of sessions
@@the-eye-is-watchingBut this has nothing to do with the IQ. A Dog will not learn what you want and can have a high IQ. It is the same like with humans. I think this is not real, in every breed you have smart and less smart dogs.
I definitely agree with the Collie ranking. My family has a 10 month old collie puppy. At two months old, he figured out how to escape his pen in the house. At 7 months, he figured how to open closed doors that pushed away from him. We think that he had already figured this but needed to wait to be bigger to make his plans work. Now at 10 months he has started opening doors that swing inwards. Thankfully he hasn't figured out how to use locks.
I had an Arabian (sire) & Standardbred (dam) horse when I was a teenager. He could open EVERY latch on the property. Everything had to be padlocked or chained & padlocked. 😮
Border Collie, Poodle, and German Shepherd, I agree with, however I take issue with Golden Retrievers beating out Labrador Retrievers. Anecdotal, I know, but I’ve owned both.
I have always found that mongrels are smarting than pure breads. My current dog is a mix of German Shepherd, Border Collie and Kelpie. Trust me, he is as cunning as any human. Just saying!
There’s so much variation among individuals of a given breed or even among litter mates that rankings like these are only generalizations. In my family, the ranking is Border Collie Australian Cattle dog mix - very smart Golden - pretty smart Cocker - average : not too smart As far as companionship, energy, and excitability, and overall fun to be around they rank in the same order.
Comparing dog breeds is ridiculous. Purebred dogs were bred for specific jobs and despite not always doing those jobs, still retain those specific traits. Also, each dog is an individual, depending on what education, socialization and training they receive, as well as how they were raised by their owner makes a world of difference. You clearly have no education or actual knowledge about dogs, genetics and behavior on this matter. Shame on you…I mean, you don’t even know the Romans brought the molosser dogs with them to drive their hoofed food sources feeding the army as they conquered territory after territory including Germany, and those dogs eventually became what we know today as the Rottweiler. It’s unfortunate some people will take this video at face value, not understanding there’s so much more to dog, all animal intelligence.
