Good info! I was kicking myself these last few years for not knowing about speed wiring. Now I am glad I have always used the screws on the side. Thxs!
Wow 😮 I never knew! I will be switching to the commercial grade from now on. I will also be switching my heavy used switches to the commercial grade! Thanks. Keep making great videos 😊
The exposed wire is not near as big a deal as the exposed screws on the side. Maybe the electrical tape wrap people care, but nobody else does. The problem with the back stab is load dependent. 200 watts of lights (or today, 20 watts of LED lights) isn't going to bother that back stab at all. Mine where the back stab was used to feed a few hundred watts of ceiling heater, and almost 1000 watts of lights burned the wires to a crisp and heat damaged the insulation nearly all the way back to the box. I'd like to shake the electrician that wired my house as everything was done back stab and usually used the devices to feed thru to downstream.
Reason #1 not to have it explains why manufacturers still use it. If they have people thinking their switch is broken because of a bad connection then they buy more switches thinking that switch broke. Commercial customers would buy another brand if they failed that often from a connection. Its a stupid tax on residential buyers
Are you serious right now? Lol they have a spot to measure your wire on the back for this speed wiring. Right or wrong, the holes are certainly for wiring. 😂
@rockyschurman8625 The holes are not for wiring. Somebody had designed them for removing gases caused by arc, but managers without technical education haven't understood real purpose and decided to use for quick wiring. Engineering department has very poor communication with management department, so gas holes are used for wiring.

You are very welcome! I’m glad you found it useful! 🙏🏽😊
Super helpful video that clears up common wiring mistakes. Must-watch for anyone tackling electrical work!
Glad you found it helpful! 🙏🏽😊
Applying the logic of my brilliant Father, If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it again?
Yessir!
You convinced me to change the light switches too.
That's great!👍🏽😊

I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
If it wasn't safe the NEC would have outlawed it years ago.

On new construction they use that type of backstabbing method because it's faster for them to get the house built
I wish they took extra time to do the terminal wiring, takes only a few minutes 😔
Builders want it done fast

Thank you for the info!
These holes are not for wires. Their purpose is to release gases formed by arc.

Used to push in quick tights for years and never had a problem
