I enjoyed it as well. I prefer a good human conversation over any games or bits; that goes for all shows. That being said, Shailene is a great guest to interact with, a lot of celebrities are... vapid, to put it nicely, but I remember her on Craig Ferguson, and she was someone he particularly seemed fond and interested in to a point that even at the end of his run where he started going out of his way to show he wasn't giving a fuck, she roped him in. Good stuff.
You act like he doesn't know what he's doing. That whole fake spheal is about putting less compliant celebrities at ease or moving them along. It's like everyone by default expects everyone to be super cooperative. Sometimes Fallon has to overdo it to really get something out of a celebrity. But look at his interviews with ones who are really willing to just be there and communicate, like Shailene Woodley or Jennifer Lawrence and he's totally normal. Even with Kristen Stewart he was super genuine because he knows she hates doing press. If he's being fake, it's because the celebrity he's interviewing requires it.

Ugh, I love this girl! If you guys didn't know, she's been traveling, protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. She probably didn't talk about it here because of the shows policy or legalities and whatnot. But yeah! Native Americans have been protesting the installment of a pipeline that is planned to go across the Missouri River - their only source of drinking water. Many tribes across the US and even many non-natives have gathered to protect the water and land of the Sioux tribe and many others around the river, and it's still an ongoing protest right now! It's a really big issue, and it's not getting as much coverage as it should, but she's definitely brought a lot of attention to it.
Shailene Woodley is an amazing actress! I only wish the best for her. She is such a down to earth kindhearted human being. She is absolutely amazing. I wish I could just give her a hug.

It was more of an LA thing. In some places, Walmart is not big at all and so to see how prominent and integral it is in other places of the country can be a bit jarring.

Not always watching for the celebs. The haters click on videos that are just him and Higgins, and they'll say how they hate both of them. It's just an excuse to be annoying. And I have said before, these guests are here promoting something. Many will be on a different talk show with in a week. De Niro was on Meyers the day after Fallon, yet the hate was pouring over Fallon's interview skills.

I could so relate to this interview! For family vacations, my parents would take us on RV trip along the East coast of the US and, when campgrounds weren't available, Wal-Mart parking lots were usually the place to sleep. Helps that they're usually open 24 hours as well. And in very small towns, teens tended to congregate with their pick-up trucks and music in the parking lot as well. Great memories.
