Those washboard gravel bars hold a lot of big channels. We use in line single musky spinners with beads down to a size 8 j-hook tipped with shade or drum heads and just bump from dip to dip and if they're there they slam it. Mika is a great dude. Great vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏🏻

That area is sure familiar! We were just there 2 weeks ago and the water was pretty high still. We caught 6 of those channel cats about that size. Love what you do and good luck.
I started watching the twisted cat channel. And wondered about that tournament in muscatine cause I only live an hr from there. But my big water boat isn't ready yet! But hopping u have a video of the tournament! Funny I would of never imagined in a million years to be in a tournament for catfish but maybe someday here! Hope u caught em when it counts!!
Hey Spencer the only kind of catfish we have in my area of California are channel catfish and the biggest I have ever heard of was 40 pounds. Because they don't have any competition they get bigger here. We do have bullheads but we can't use them for bait as for whatever reason they are considered game fish
@@beachumz I don't think you could go wrong there. I'll throw on a spinnerbait or crankbait and catch bass, walleye sheepshead AND cats. I haven't made it yet this year but it's in the works.
I must say I like those fish grippers over the metal ones that you've got the plastic vice grip type grippers don't hurt the fish like the other ones that put big holes in the fishes mouth from the grippers. You know bro?
Blue on chrome 1/4-1/2 once rattle trap on fast bait caster, cast past them, and let it sink below the juvenile fish. Then hang on, and the bigger sand bass, and hybrids will be down there Oh excuse me, white bass, and we call them sand bass, because we catch them a lot of the time when the winds got the bait fish pushed up on sandy points. That's when you cam fill the bottom of the boat up, are you could until they put limits on them. Either way it'd a great time catching them and throwing little ones back until your limit is caught, or you're wore put your thumbs.
This might be a dumb question, but when you catch bait that you’re going to use as cut bait for a future date, how do you go about dispatching it? I pretty much use cut bait whenever saltwater fishing and I buy it from the bait shop but whenever I’ve had to dispatch a fish, I’m always concerned with doing it as humanely as possible

He ended up being pretty lucky overall, but we end up facing some adversity. There's flatheads, and that's the wildcard of the tournament. I like it, because even on a bad day you're never out of it.

I’m 60 and I can recall 3 cheats during tournaments. 1st was a fish trap full of cats … they actually were seen unloading it and fish placed on a stringer .2 was cranking up a but load of flatheads. That one always made me wonder if they the fish were there why didn’t they just fish for them ? They were caught because the stunned fish were still floating by the next boat of fisherman. And the next was snagging , fish had holes outside and none in their mouths . So cheating been around a very long time. But I feel the reasons have changed old days it was for prestige. Because the money wasn’t all that much . And now it’s for the money big money in those Larry tournaments.
I heard about the shocking one but not the others. I'm not to worried about cheating in these. They do polygraph. It's not perfect, but all that other stuff is out of my control so I don't worry about it.

My beagle would do nothing but bark and loose his mind if i was bumping for fish. He barks at the slightest movement of my rod 😂 He stays home alot.
