they might shed but if you don’t cut them they’ll over grow, break, cut themselves with them, cut others with them, overgrown nails can cause it to dig into their paws and infection. I have 5 cats so I should know
You need to keep an eye on that. My cat at around 15 or 16 stopped scratching the scratching posts, and his claws stopped shedding properly and grew into his little paws because we didn't think to check because we figured they shed. Keep an eye on it you might need to start
Idk if your cat is an outside cat or not. But if they are an indoor cat(which seems likely for senior cats), you need to keep an eye on their nails more since it won't wear out naturally faster compare to outside as said in the video Edit: Also with the nails curving in as they grow you're not helping your cats wellbeing since it prevents them from walking properly and causes injuries to their *sensitive* pawpads if you ignore their nails (length)
Yes, that’s true. I have a cat that literally literally literary grips on anything even a paper towel even a piece of my skin in my cat literary gripped onto concrete even a Christmas tree. I had to pull out all of my strength.
I had to trim my new cat's claws three times (he's a 9 year old tabby I inherited from my grandma) before he figured out what a scratching post was. I am surprised he was okay with me trimming his nails. When I first inherited him he HATED everyone who wasn't my grandma (scratching and biting, very unfriendly). I got around this by shoving myself in a room with him for days on end (occasionally sleeping in the room with him) but absolutely ignoring him and just like...doing schoolwork or research or playing a video game. Figured he needed someone after my grandma died. Now he won't leave me alone. As soon as he sees me he harasses me for attention. He's a very vocal cat. He has slowly been warming up to our other cats purely so he can get in my face (he used to hate them and would hiss at them if they so much as looked at him but now he can be like within 2 ft of them as long as he's next to me). Honestly it's very funny the transition for him because nobody in my family expected him to be so friendly considering he hated the world for 8 years.
In my case, my cat used to avidly scratch the posts we had. But when he got to around 15 or so he stopped, we didn't notice because the younger cats kept damaging them. His claws grew long and into his pads because we weren't routinely checking because we didn't realize we needed too, after that we began cutting them every few months. Sometimes you don't notice and it fucking sucks
There's a sheet of wood my cat uses to sharpen his nails, and he scratches that same piece of wood 2 to even 4 times a day, we barley have to trim his nails
It just gives me shiver I can't trim her nails what she gets pain so i just check her is it okay then just leave there if she is fine with them and not overgrown 😮💨 what can I do yeah she hurts me often unknowingly

"oh thats pretty coo- YYYOOOOOUOUOOUOUUOUOUOUOUOUOUOUOUUOUOUOUUUUUUUCCCCHHHHHHH"
Teacher: you can’t feel a picture
Me:
guys actually that cat who is scratching his leg loves em hes marking his territory on his owner
House cats need a scratching tree. It part of responsible pet ownership alongside quality food, health insurance and general care.
İ just know that last dude was trying his damn best to stay still
My domestic cat does all those things- we still check her claws but she never needs them trimming 😂
My legs hurt after seeing that last dude

Yeah I've never had to do that my cats have always been outside cats😂
My cat trims them himself, he bites them off
Bro back when I got my first cat, I tried to grab her and she literally dig into my hand. I literally had the ground.

or just buy 6 scratch post around your house to wear there nails down
HOW DO ANYONE LET THEIR CAT GET THERE CLAWS GET SO LONG

They forgot about scratching posts apparently

Our cat atleast likes to use claws as scratching the furniture.. tho it makes scratches like hell.
Actually what you need is a house since they don’t forget that they are wild but you have to have a real house
The first one didnt trim it took out the bone itself, making the cat clawless, which hurts the cat in the long run.
Or i mught be wrong .
My cat is a house cat and her nails ain't like that
I let mine claw to furniture.
Can we change my child's pause his name is Sebastian
A have a 5 cat and they dont even ned to trim
