  • In the fall of 2022, an Advanced Archaeology class from Longwood University continued to excavate a site at the Ward Burton Wildlife Association in Halifax County, Virginia. There, students were able to experience hands-on learning while finding projectile points, pottery pieces, and bone fragments, all helping paint a picture of what life was like for indigenous peoples in Pre-Columbian America.

Very cool video! Love to see Longwood Archaeology going strong under the leadership of Dr. Bates. Seeing the excitement of the students and the fun they were having took me back to my own fieldschools at the Wade site in 2000 and 2001. Where did the time go?! What a truly inspiring and awesome program! Get busy digging, or get busy dying! Keep up the great work!
