@@OscarMemo333 yes, but he was still heavily involved and I personally think of him a lot when I think about Chrono Trigger. I was just showing respect for the man in a fitting song
This is the first thing I listened to when I heard Toriyama passed. I know he didn't work on the music, but this entire game affected me so much, I think of the entire work of art as a collaboration between some of the greatest minds in game development history. Thank you for everything, Toriyama. How fitting, to have passed in the year of the dragon. May your influence be carried to far away times. Part of me still doesn't believe it. This man, I wouldn't be who I am today without him. My love of martial arts, that's in part his doing. The game that influenced my life the most, Chrono Trigger? Part of his work too. Nothing so far has come to capture the magic of that game for me. But hopefully, even with his passing, his work lives on to inspire more people, to give us another golden age of art. Rest in peace
I remember I was like 9 years old looking at video games in wal mart and some old lady asked me what a good game would be to get her grandson. I told her to get Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid and she got both. Whoever the lucky kid was, np man =)
That old lady is long gone. And soon your dreams and ambitions will be too. We did nothing, but don't blame yourself, the boomers, lead by nothingness, lead us towards nothing. They taught us not to talk about currency and so we are poor. Only the oligarchs are to blame...wait what comment section am I in??

Oh man, I know what you mean, the music speaks so deeply into my soul. The story, while on the surface is seemingly simple explores so many things, I can't even begin to express how much of a masterpiece Chrono Trigger truly is. I can only feel sorry for those who have not played this game
Life changer. These characters taught me respect, sacrifice, love and hope. Protect those you love, care for those who need help. The nature of living honorably.
I truly wish more games could be like Chrono Trigger, A game that has unforgettable characters, A Timeless Story (Time Pun intended) And Absolutely Amazing music.
Just one year before, the same company created a game called “Live-A-Live”. Perhaps you’ve heard of the recent remake? Not as timeless, but it has a fascinating story.
One of the best songs written for a video game, considering it was the ending theme, it was so lovely. It wasn't an overly grand fanfare, there was something sweet and gentle about it, something soothing like a lullabye, well an energetic lullabye. Stands alongside Terra's Theme, Theme of Love, To The Future and Angel's Fears... wow the SNES really was the golden era of video games, especially where music was concerned, not to say that there weren't some really great themes before, and some really great themes after!
ajitter89 Dont forget songs from Illusion of Gaia - To the new world and Terranigma - Ending theme and soul blazers too heck. such touching games. ( they are a trilogy with a similar theme. but not connected story wise)
ajitter89 Have you looked at Endless Legend's ost? Perfectly captures the sadness of the mother, the rush and fear and anger of war, the nervousness of progress, and the hope and uncertainty of taking the first steps into an uncertain future.
As a lifelong gamer who started with the Atari 2600, I completely agree that the SNES era was the Golden Age of video games. Early PS1 era was the Silver Age, and it's slowly settled into the 'pretty' age now, where graphics are king and storyline / gameplay / replay value is secondary.
The real magic of this song is how it takes you back in time, just like the Epoch. Essentially, what the plot of the game does in fiction, this music does in reality. It's art come to life.
I will say this until the day I die: Chrono Trigger is the greatest videogame ever made, the apex of gaming as an art form, and the game God plays. It is the one and only perfect game ever made, and ever will be made. Long live Zeal.
Completely agree. Especially when you consider the time this was made. It still holds up and in most cases buries the competition on almost every front. Even with the 16 bit graphics, the art/story/music do more to ignite your imagination rather than leaving you to rely on the provided graphics for visual support. I find my self imagining the characters and the environments more than actually examining them... I thought Chrono Cross did an excellent job of that as well. Whether or not the final boss was a good fight, there were some tough fights in that game if you didn't know what you were doing. Twin Golems in the Ocean Palace could cause problems. Giga Gaia also wasn't easy. The Rust Tyranno on the Rainbow Shell quest to name another. Those were tough fights for a SNES title.
The thing, it was a game made from LOVE, no filters, no politics, no quick sell, no gimmicks, no nothing, the patience of the 90s, help create countless masterpieces from gaming, music and even, to movies. Personally, TV when not worried about censors, has become GREAT, where movies have become POP as GAMES ARE NOW MORE POP, make it pretty it will sell, granted UNCHARTED and many other games are great, Squaresoft was at another level of story telling, made you part of the quest, like Zelda OOT, just flawless.
Do you know the story behind its music, and Yasunori Mitsuda? It's one of the reasons I agree with you. There may never have been a game, before or after, that a man put his as much of his heart and soul into composing the music for.
The way the theme comes back in at 3:13 draws so much emotion from me. Such a besutiful piece of music, from such a great time in my life. Musically no other video game will ever eclipse this
well, chrono trigger is about time travel. As I heard this for the first time I shed tears and for some reason reflected back on my life. everything I have done so far, people i have met, Friends and old homes i'll never see again. Makes me slow down and wonder what's in store for me. what will the next chapters of my life hold?
Well said. What I found so interesting about time is that it always flows, no matter the actions you did today or the people you maybe encounter for the last time in your life. "Time will unfold the story of our lives."
Kinda sad that people who look down on old games just because they're old will never get to experience this masterpiece of a game, oh well, I'm happy I got to play it, easily my favorite game ever, nothing has given me the same feels that this game has given me, even great games like RDR2 On another note, thank you Toriyama for everything you have done to games and Manga, you absolute legend

I've worked for Games, TV and film, and I've managed to live in Japan, China, Singapore, Sweden due to this career choice and the pursuit of a grand adventure.
This game actually gave me more clear insight on morals. The companionship, watching each other's backs, helping others regardless of the level of danger involved and putting others before yourself, investigating problems to figure out solutions, and many more crucial decision makings.
You should never put others before yourself unless you know they are worth it. Evil narcissistic people will abuse you over and over if you do this. Always love yourself first, and only sacrifice yourself for someone who is really worthy of your love. But when you do, do it with all your heart!
Ff8 is the only thing that came close, but in reality I think its none. That's coming from a die hard ff7 fan as it was first, but first handedly realize how much ff7 heavily borrowed from chrono trigger and even ff6 which is another amazing title in it's own right.
take me, far, far away with the strings of time as my chariot, spaces that was once dark now come to light, the beauty that was untold, now unfolds, to far away times....
Kishore G. I want to actually song write but don't how to get into it. I'm always working within own business, but never get to do anything creative as song writing.
The composer, Yasunori Mitsuda, originally composed the song to send to his deceased best friend, with the hope that they would live the same era together.
Mitsuda did say in an interview that this song was written for someone that he “wanted to share a generation with”, but I’ve never seen anything about the person in question being deceased.
In this day and age it is very rare for anything to take me back to a time when life was filled with hope and endless possibilities. That being said this song brings the feeling of peace and security I felt in those wonderful years. No black winds are howling while this beautiful melody is playing. Time to fire up the wings of time and play this again.
No game will ever captivate and make me love the world and characters as much as Chrono trigger did. The problem with the game is... once you play it, no other game will ever feel as magical.

I really wanted a remake of Chrono Trigger for the new consoles, but not because of the better graphics, it's just because I feel bad about having the fantastic opportunity to play this game, while many players of the new generation don't even know this masterpiece, and I wish they could feel the wonderful feeling of playing what is for me, the best game I have ever played. I wish the best for all of you!
I'm sad my kids will never see Chrono Trigger like I do. To me it is perfect. I'll introduce them to it one day, and they may play it. If they do, their reaction will probably be "meh, its ok." I might get a "that was pretty good, dad." They won't see it as revolutionary and inspirational like we did back then. I do hope they get to play a game that makes them feel like I felt when playing Chrono Trigger. I hope one day, a game like that comes along again and gives them the chance.

This was initially going to be a love song, or so I heard; I figured I'd think up some lyrics that would fit! VVVVV Race Through the night Toward the light Toward the past Now at last, I'll ask you: Come fly away with me To far away times in our memory! We'll be together and free In far away dreams, just wait and see! Just take my hand We'll be okay There's nothing they can do To take our love away! Oh Come fly away with me To far away times in our memory! We'll be together and free In far away dreams just wait and see! No harm will find us now, The danger's behind us now At last, there is nothing left to fear I'll wipe the teardrops from your face, And we'll share a warm embrace As we finally have found Our place... Soft Bright clouds Fields of green Like we'd seen Long ago When we were young And the sun Was there To stay... Please stay... Come fly away with me Into far away times We'll be together and free When we're in far away times Where there's nothing No one To keep us apart 'Cause I'm there In your heart...
Thank you, Toriyama. For everything you've done for me and the rest of the world.

Race
Through the night
Toward the light
Toward the past
Now at last, I'll ask you:
Come fly away with me
To far away times in our memory!
We'll be together and free
In far away dreams, just wait and see!
Just take my hand
We'll be okay
There's nothing they can do
To take our love away!
Oh
Come fly away with me
To far away times in our memory!
We'll be together and free
In far away dreams just wait and see!
No harm will find us now,
The danger's behind us now
At last, there is nothing left to fear
I'll wipe the teardrops from your face,
And we'll share a warm embrace
As we finally have found
Our place...
Soft
Bright clouds
Fields of green
Like we'd seen
Long ago
When we were young
And the sun
Was there
To stay...
Please stay...
Come fly away with me
Into far away times
We'll be together and free
When we're in far away times
Where there's nothing
No one
To keep us apart
'Cause I'm there
In your heart...
原曲を大事にしているアレンジ素晴らしいです^ ^
俺も。これかなり名曲だと思ってる。
リピート回数多いよホント。何かに行き詰った時に聞きたくなる。
