I agree with all the comments about this SSd not being compatible. I upgraded multiple (4) surface pro 9 5G with this exact 2TB SSd and all had BSOD issues. Switched to INLAND QN446 2TB M.2 2230 SSD PCIe Gen 4.0x4 NVMe and been perfect for 8 months. Not quite as fast as the WD, but still way faster than stock drive and 2TB. And on the specs, the inland drive has lower power consumption than the WD, so I do agree that is the issue. The WD is a "better" SSD, but only if the PC can supply enough power!
I had the 1TB Crucial P310 but I switched to the 2TB WD. The "feel" is the same but the TBW is hugely different. Whyle the 1TB Crucial has a TBW of 220TB the 2TB WD is around 1.2k TBW which is a massive difference.
How much testing have you done with the SN770m? There are a lot of reports on reddit and reviews on Amazon saying that it results in instability and BSODs in Surface devices probably due to the high power requirements. I'm using Corsair's new MP600 Mini (not Core Mini) and not having any issues.
I upgraded my Surface 11 Pro base model with the SN770m 2TB late last week. I liked the 2x higher speed and large size very much. But I get * a lot * of blue-screens. I reinstalled already once because I thought it might be my release-preview insider Windows-build. But the bluescreens did not go away. So I just decided to go back to the original SSD, and re-install it once again, wasting some additional work-hours. The Surface's original SSD has a shield around it, unlike the WD. just used samsung drive copy software?
you sure can if you can get it to work with a USBC caddy. I think they removed support of that a while ago :(
Do not buy this drive for the SP11 unless you want to randomly get into BSOD loops.
Your voice sounds like gordon ramsay
Better off to just pay the money
really? M$ charge the earth, I can have fast 2tb for the price of their 256gb to 512gb upgrade. This is a very easy process
You need a Torx Plus IP3 not a T4. Also, the SN770M 2TB is not compatible. You'll get nothing but BSODs. This video will bring you nothing but pain and waste your time and money.
this PC is bad deal starts at $1,000 with Snapdragon X Plus that cant run most x86 things that im using. for me there is no need to add a 2tb SSD.
@@Rayu25Demon very true. For its cost and capabilities its not sure if its worth it. But it gives a new aspect of a future having true portable laptops whilst having mighty cpus and possibly gpus.
@@lolidasterner414 its an old aspect these compatibly was not fix since 2012 with the 1starm arm windows windows 8.
no one is going to adopt arm for work.
It's an ARM tablet not a x86 PC....
If you need anything with x86 programs, just simply buy an Intel PC will be fine.
@@morries1234 i know. but something is telling me all newer tablets and laptops are going to be arm only future because of AI fever.
@@Rayu25Demon But if that's the case, software will adapt. It will just take time to transition. More options are better and there are benefits to these ARM devices like HUGE battery gains. They aren't for everyone at this point though.
