The Australian reminded me of a friend of mine who had done part of her PhD in the States and some years later was at the US embassy in NZ to process some documentation for her daughter who was planning a trip passing through the US . The reception clerk while processing the documents pointed out that my friend's green card needed renewing. She said to just let it go as she didn't need it any more. The official was stunned "but this let's you live in the US" she explained. My friend said that she knew this but had no interest in doing so. The shock on the poor woman was palpable. In my friend's opinion she felt as if she had said something rude and inexplicable. Yes, there are other, very happy countries out here.
My son has worked in the USA for more than a decade, originally in Texas and then in Illinois, California, some others I can’t remember and currently in Kansas. He has a delightful US wife and I have had the pleasure of meeting her. He received his green card quite a while ago and realises that many of his friends and workmates expect that his next step would surely be to apply for US citizenship but he assures me that he will not, since he gained by birth in the UK the citizenship which he values above all others.

I'm sorry but there are some uneducated individuals in the U.S. - I'm Canadian & was visiting Germany, some American students from New Jersey came by and sat at the beer Gardens with us. I was literally asked if it was cool to see the sun for the first time, what was it like living in an igloo, and traveling by dog sled. They were dead serious. I'm from Denmark, maybe that's why I knew this. There are a US city called Denmark, maybe that's what confused the guys, female classmate. "Denmark is a town in Lewis County, New York, United States, named after the Kingdom of Denmark in northern Europe. The population was 2,860 at the 2010 census. The town is on the northwestern border of Lewis County and lies east of Watertown."
There is a lot of places in the US named after places in the rest of the world. What I can remember straight away are Odessa in Texas, Moscow in Idaho, St. Petersberg in Florida... Also, Georgia seems to cause a lot of confusion, however, surprisingly enough, State of Georgia, USA and Georgia, country in Eastern Europe are NOT named after each other, that's just a coincidence.
@@voidseeker4394 I may be wrong here, please educate me if I am, but my understanding is that the US state of Georgia was named after one of the king Georges, whilst the east European country of Georgia is named after Saint George? 4:00 Nope, they 100% believe what they say - and they will fight tooth and nail for their opinion. I saw this happen so often that it isn't funny anymore.
Have to say, probably the dumbest thing an American has ever said to me was when a gaming friend complained that her client (she was an attorney and her client was an homeless person) smells "so bad" and "why didn't he shower before the appointment". She probably isn't very good at her job if she lacks compassion and doesn't understand that if you don't have a home chances are you can't take a shower either..
As an Aussie, I can confirm that for the most part the bigger the spider, the less dangerous it is. It's the small ones you need to watch out for. The kind that you can find hiding on your shoelaces
Here in OZ when it comes to spiders the bigger the better, the Huntsman can grow to the size of a dinner plate but are harmless, while the Sydney funnel web spider is considered the most venomous in the world only grows to an average of 2 inches.
Interesting! Ooo that would still scare me, but that's pretty cool. Also, I don't remember ever seeing Aus called OZ before, I had to look it up on google to make sure I was understanding that correctly. Haha love that!

In Australia are living some of the most lethal spiders in the world. One is very small and can live underneath your porch. The famous tarantula´s may bite (when they feel attacked) but apart from a lot of pain for some hours usually not much happens. Normally one can let walk a tarantula over the hand and it will be completely safe.
I think that every person lives in their own individual reality, with their own specific knowledge base. SO I guess an individual’s knowledge is all down to what kind of education and life experience they gather along the way. If these things are not available or are rejected, the person remains ignorant. Not always the individual’s fault I think.
You are correct in that the education you receive determines what you know and you can't blame someone for it but I just cannot believe that someone in a country like the US doesn't know that people from England speak English or something like asking someone who is in school/university with them whether they have schools back home or internet. That has to be willful lack of interest in knowing anything about the world around you. That is not bad education, that is an oblivious mindset.
The big spiders you're talking about are called Huntsmans... They're entirely harmless and are actually great to have around as they take care of the smaller ones that aren't as nice....
Aussie spiders: There's some that are genuinely dangerous, but they're rarely encountered by humans, and we have antivenom (which is free btw, universal healthcare ftw), and no one has died from a spider bite in Australia in quite a few decades. We do have some rather large ones, but not as large as the South American tarantulas, and the ones you most commonly see are harmless. The ones most people are terrified of because of their size are huntsman spiders (also known as wall puppies), which are the large grey to brown hairy ones, despite their large hairy creepy spidery appearance, they're so harmless they're considered friendly. If that doesn't put you at ease, we also have a variety of delightful little peacock spiders, one of which has the name Sparklemuffin Spider. I kid you not, look it up. Peacock spiders are tiny, brightly coloured, completely harmless, and even for a spider they're super cute.
Hi from New Zealand. I know all this I lived at the Gold Coast for 2 years, and I tell you I HATE THEM. They freak me out. 😂😂😂. But, I had a snake 🐍 he was awesome. Also I love all the wildlife in Aussie. Oh let me say I hate ALL spiders 🕷 even the tiny one from here. 😊😬
We have a LOT of spider species but yes there are deadly ones, namely the Funnel Web spider (lives up and down our eastern coast area) and redback spiders (I think all over the country) both of which usually mind their own businesses in dark, dry areas like under houses or in 'not cleaned out enough' garage sheds but are ones most Aussies learn to identify on sight just in case. There are also quite a lot of 'mid level' nasty ones like wolf spiders and white tails which in the worst cases can cause necrosis (rotting) bites which vary visually by area. White tails btw are probably the species most likely to wander about homes and bite people, but generally their bites do not cause any kind of extreme damage so... Yay? Our BIG spiders that most people scream over are actually kind of harmless though? The huntsman spider for example gets freaking huge (average is hand sized) and the way it moves is terrifying but not only is it arguable if they even have venom, they rarely if ever bite humans, and in fact are considered a good 'ally' spider to have around as they eat other kinds of spiders as well as pests like roaches, wasps etc. They're really big and scary looking though so its fair to be freaked out by them *Says as someone who also gets spooked seeing them but very much requests people remove them from the house peacefully via the container and paper method rather than killing them just for existing* Side note: If its hanging in the middle of a web strung out between tree branches its probably harmless (if possibly annoying/panic inducing if you walk face first into a web in the summer). Most of our poisonous spiders are more 'active hunting' kinds or trapdoor/'undergroung/indoor web' spiders. The classic 'small outdoors web spinners' are allies in our endless fight against all the damn flies XD Hope that was helpful for your 'Aussie spider knowledge'; if nothing else you should be able to look more into them which the species names listed
All spiders are venomous, it's just that most ones (especially here in good old Europe where I live 😅) cannot penetrate our skin with their fangs and so they're completely harmless to us humans.
@@purpleguy319 Admittedly neither have I (NSW resident mainly) but the map of locations they can be found in I looked them up to double check their range had them listed from lower east Queensland down to Victoria so maybe they're just rarer outside of the NSW? I had a little "ow, c'mon now -.-" thought when she mentioned she was 17-20% of italian heritage (didn't think to comment on it, but I did have the "ugh2 thought... then I read all the comments about it and you know what? It feels a little mean to go "ugh" because someone mentions their heritage in percentages, even if it's lowkey cringe in other places in the world. It's not like Heidi invented that. What I'm trying to say is: lets leave her be happy about her heritage (which is always good) and just be amused with her as we all react to this compilations together. *Last thing: I'm not condemning anyone who commented on that or anything and I don't think anyone commented on it with malice, but just thought it wasn't really necessary to point that out loud. Good day to y'all
Yeah that was my exact sentiment. Like, yeah, it's definitely an American thing, and I totally understand how it makes people roll their eyes, because heritage should be more about culture than genetics, and all that, but at the same time, people could be nicer and more understanding about it. To be fair, though, I can understand how people from countries where a lot of people emigrated to the US, like Ireland or Italy, are growing a bit tired of it, because they're the ones that are probably hearing this kind of stuff the most. Like, after hearing for the tenth time someone reduce your whole country and culture to a number on their DNA, I can understand being annoyed.

There´s basically just one spider you need to worry about in autralia and that´s the Sydney Funnel Spider, which seems to like human proximity. Fortunatly it´s usually not deadly and due to human proximity you have very good chances to make it to the hospital to prevent the heavy reactions which will come otherwise. In the outback, pretty much everything wants to kill you without a professional guid or knowing what you´re doing stay the hell away from the outback.
"Are the spiders less harmfull?" - Yes.. there are little to no reports of mass shootings done by spiders! Also, spiders aren't poisonous, they are venomous. Im from Denmark, but went to Australia, and the spiders there scare me a lot. Mostly they are not deadly, mostly, but some are, and you need to get some antidote within a few hours if bitten or you die. Almost nobody dies of spiders anymore, but that's due to the antidote I believe. Best if you can bring along the spider that bit you so they faster can identify what antidote you need :-) We tried to go to Sidney Spider Museum to get more relaxed about spiders, but that only made it worse. They have spiders the size of a hand. You will not die if they bite you, but they are nasty anyway :-) But to be fair, we never saw any scary spiders in the 5 weeks we were there. They also have crocodiles close to many beaches, not to mention sharks, but worst of all is the tiny little blue goblins, which can paralyze you so you drown, not least if they paralyze your breathing. So you had to be careful walking on the beach if it wasn't supervised. I guess that's why I like Denmark so much. There is nothing to be afraid of :-) But that said, Australien is a very beautiful country.
Like you, I used to make allowances and think maybe they're joking, right? Wrong! I have literally dozens of stories like this and would wonder what pearls of wisdom I was going to hear every time an American spoke to me. I’ve been told by Americans that Australia is a socialist country. It is not. We are under a dictatorship. Then pointed to the guy we literally voted out a month prior as the dictator. I’ve also been told that what works in Australia won’t in america because america is so much bigger, it’s bigger but barely and the population isn’t as sparse as it is in Australia. Also it’s a total eye roll when ever Americans tell you “their heritage and culture” and do nothing but embarrass themselves in front of people from those actual countries.
"Do you think people just say this?" No, they actually do believe what they say to be true, like those who claim noah's ark is true because American schools still teach it as a historical fact. American education is all I am going to say.. American education.

Makes me laugh how they think all foreigners want a green card. It's the last place on earth I'd want to live.

There's also a Denmark in Western Australia.
There's also one in Wisconsin, not too far from Chicago.

It's a pretty common thing in the south of Brazil as well (where I'm from) but the rest of Brazil makes fun of it and it's not as "strong" even here, here it's more like "Ok, my parents come directly from ____ therefore I grew up in a pretty _____ household, so I have some _____ culture", but it's not like "Oh, I'm 10% _____ so I consider myself a _____"

As an Aussie, I can confirm that for the most part the bigger the spider, the less dangerous it is. It's the small ones you need to watch out for. The kind that you can find hiding on your shoelaces
Sounds interesting but the bigger the spiders the faster i run, i don't give a fuck if they are less poisonous. 😄
Lol, no. Also an Aussie. The funnel web spider is our most dangerous spider, is huge and very venomous, and is much bigger than a shoelace.
Here in OZ when it comes to spiders the bigger the better, the Huntsman can grow to the size of a dinner plate but are harmless, while the Sydney funnel web spider is considered the most venomous in the world only grows to an average of 2 inches.

To quote the late and veery talented Frank Zappa "Modern Americans behave as if intelligence were some sort of hideous deformity."
There are big venomous spiders in Australia, and they are nicer than most Americans.
Pls continue this series! It's fantastic!
They're really big and scary looking though so its fair to be freaked out by them *Says as someone who also gets spooked seeing them but very much requests people remove them from the house peacefully via the container and paper method rather than killing them just for existing*
Side note: If its hanging in the middle of a web strung out between tree branches its probably harmless (if possibly annoying/panic inducing if you walk face first into a web in the summer). Most of our poisonous spiders are more 'active hunting' kinds or trapdoor/'undergroung/indoor web' spiders. The classic 'small outdoors web spinners' are allies in our endless fight against all the damn flies XD
Hope that was helpful for your 'Aussie spider knowledge'; if nothing else you should be able to look more into them which the species names listed
All spiders are venomous, it's just that most ones (especially here in good old Europe where I live 😅) cannot penetrate our skin with their fangs and so they're completely harmless to us humans.
I've never seen a funnel-web spider outside of NSW. I thought they were a temperate spider and not found in the tropics.
@@purpleguy319 Admittedly neither have I (NSW resident mainly) but the map of locations they can be found in I looked them up to double check their range had them listed from lower east Queensland down to Victoria so maybe they're just rarer outside of the NSW?

It feels a little mean to go "ugh" because someone mentions their heritage in percentages, even if it's lowkey cringe in other places in the world. It's not like Heidi invented that.
What I'm trying to say is: lets leave her be happy about her heritage (which is always good) and just be amused with her as we all react to this compilations together.
*Last thing: I'm not condemning anyone who commented on that or anything and I don't think anyone commented on it with malice, but just thought it wasn't really necessary to point that out loud.

Northern Mexican here, being white and with green eyes there in US people usually confuse me with european (despite having european heritage) or argentinan 😮😅 or the dumbest thing they saidto me "you don't look mexican" 😅 and "where did you learn english" at college of course 😅😊
lol I love your reactions, they are funny.
Hey, that girl is from czech just like me
Just for the record you CAN sometimes meet celebrities in Prague, as quite a few films were made in its architecture.
Me and my friends actually met Keanu Reaves and if you approach him politely he really is a chill guy😊
7:20 I actually did meet casually a celebrity on one of Prague's squares. He was just standing there around homeless people and I just walked around and kinda eyed him but that counts..? 😂😂
"yes, no biggie... We only invented the bloody language!"
Dumb people are everywhere but the U.S. for some reason has a much higher percentage than elsewhere.
Didn’t make a tictok but when I visited family in the USA and was at the super market and told them I worked in the Japan the person ask me if they use US dollars there and when I said they don’t they asked how do I have money to spend here….
2:46 Yes, they'll hide in dark places and can possibly kill you if you don't check your footwear or sheets before laying down.
Australian wildlife is scary, but at least there are antivenoms for the poisonous/venomous stuff.
I don't know if someone answer your question about the Colombian girl, pandebono is a type of bread but they use cassava (yuca) flour, it is a delicacy, very soft and sweet kind of flavour, very testy pretty sure you have it since the latin american population in USA is big, even here in uk we have it, chocolisto probably a instant chocolate they just tend to call everything by their brand name.. have a great day.
That's brutal to watch, especially the Kardashian part...
someday we will see an american walking somewhere and we will wish them to "get well soon"
as an Australian I will tell you whether its a spider, a snake or a dog if you don't mess with it you'll be fine. People also act like we are getting attacked every day by animals. Its not like that
A lot of Australian spider are deadly venomous, regardless of size.
LOL at the Australian spiders bit - this is the country where practically all the wildlife out there is actively trying to kill you.
Quick search gives shocking results - 6:17 - there is Denmark College (Medical Assisting, Barbering, or Cosmetology) in Chicago?
I’ve been told by Americans that Australia is a socialist country. It is not.
We are under a dictatorship. Then pointed to the guy we literally voted out a month prior as the dictator.
I’ve also been told that what works in Australia won’t in america because america is so much bigger, it’s bigger but barely and the population isn’t as sparse as it is in Australia.
Also it’s a total eye roll when ever Americans tell you “their heritage and culture” and do nothing but embarrass themselves in front of people from those actual countries.
"Do you think people just say this?"
No, they actually do believe what they say to be true, like those who claim noah's ark is true because American schools still teach it as a historical fact.
American education is all I am going to say.. American education.
Whenever an american says they are irish or italian because their great, great, great, great, great, granddad was and they have absolutely no idea about either culture or have ever had proper italian or irish food.
You are American.
Damn, didn't know Cinco de Mayo was on September 16th. You learn something new every day.
The problem is that the educated part of the world has a strict code of education which the US of A forgot to follow.
Horses are the most dangerous animal in Australia, at least a few years ago according to QI, at least according to the amount of deaths, almost ONLY time spiders kill people are when they hide in the ehhh, visor thing in the car, so if you are driving and flip it down you get startled. It is that rare that people die from spiders in Australia
