I said it so many times, and I'll say it again. Baltimore and WJZ are just not the same without Jerry Turner and Al Sanders. May their memory and legacy live on in spirit. RIP Jerry and Al, and Godspeed.
Al Sanders and Jerry Turner was Eyewitnesses news . They made you feel even better in good and made you feel better in bad times . When go to downtown Baltimore be it day or night. I often think of Al and Jerry and their commercial showing the beauty in Baltimore. It made you happy and proud about our Baltimore . And proud of the fact that they were apart of it all. 🤓❤
Hearing that voice again just gives you goosebumps. Things have never been quite the same since Al passed and it's nice to see the love he still gets so so many years later. Continue to rest well Al.
I cried so hard when Al Sanders Passed! My Parents were quiet taken Back by how hard it hit me but realised how much of a part of our lives WJZ IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE TO US!
As a kid I never understood the news in the 70s n 80s. But I always watched with my late grandmother....Jerry Turner n AL Sanders... Every day. I was 24 in 95 when AL passed away 😢.
I remember when Sally Thorner was over at WMAR TV CH.2 with Ken Matz Ken Phillips-weather & Scott Garceau--sports!! I also remember Dick Gelfman when he was an investigator for WBAL TV CH 11 on Eleven On Your Side before going to WJZ TV Ch.13!! I also remember Kai Jackson being at Ch 13 before he went over to WBFF TV FOX 45!!! MEMORIES!!
I,ve been living in Baltimore for 43 years since I was 9 years old.Aside from family stepfamily & other people I,ve 😢 😭 sadly lost most of my life as well as RADIO TV & ENTERTAINMENT family--I,m 52 years old & I still painfully mourn the deaths of Al Sanders Jerry Turner George Bauman Randy Blair & Pat Warren all from WJZ TV CH.13 & FROM WBAL TV CH.11 the deaths of Ron Smith Dave Durian & Vince Bagli & From WMAR TV CH 2 the deaths of Jack & Susan White Bowden & Stu Kerr!! These deaths from all 3 main stations still pains me today!!😢
PICTURE THIS!! TO JERRY TURNER AL SANDERS RANDY BLAIR GEORGE BAUMANN FRANK LUBER & PAT WARREN!! from arriving in Baltimore MD in May of 1981 at age 9 with my parents whom are deceased all the way 43 years(almost 44) at age 52 going on 53 years old(2025)!! HARD TO BELIEVE 29 YEARS SINCE HE DIED MAY 5 1995😢!! 😖 😣 PAINFUL & 😢😭 SAD!! Al Sanders died a day before the anniversary of my mother Lois Ann Routhier,s death--at that time it had been 14 years since Mom died on May 6,1984!! My mother died from cervical cancer while Jerry Turner(1929-1987) & Al Sanders (1941-1995) both died from cancer!!My stepbrother Eugene B.Montz Jr.died from pancreatic cancer March 25 1997 at 57(month before his 58th birthday)My stepmom Marie F.Routhier died from lung cancer & respiratory failure on March 24 2001 at age 87.Finally my father Phillip Anthony Routhier died from bladder cancer on August 6,2001 (which I didn't know until 14 years later in 2015 when my step niece from Colorado mailed me a picture of his grave in his home state of Michigan)

My mom ran into Al Sanders in Cross Street Market. She got his autograph. She told me how friendly and down to earth he was.
