I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.
haechan has also mentioned he has done ballet when he was younger so i think that really does impact his dancing,, making the ballet comparisons more valid and understandable.

She isn't saying that Haechan is better, she's pointing out what makes him talented in his own way. His style is more fluid while Taeyong is rigid, she's trying to show how each member has their own style.

As a dancer I like watching haechan dance specifically bc of the way he moves. I did ballet for 10 years and the shoulder thing makes a lot of sense to me bc when I tried hip hop I wasn't able to move my shoulders as effectively. We are taught to keep our shoulders down so I think she was giving an example on how ballet and technical dance effects his personal style. Good reaction I love watching ur videos

@Bctmg 14 yeah it's hard to change the way u were trained I did a lot of contemporary dance so when I wanted to do tumbling and hip hop it was hard for me. I needed to be fast and powerful but I wasn't trained to do that. I eventually got the hang of it but it was still noticeable in the way I move that ballet and contemporary are my strong suit

Honestly I love Haechan's execution. I do believe he has some ballet training but he is just so elegant and sexy.
I love how you're just like "yes...YES...yes" and when there's something you did disagree or had a different opinion on, you explained why. Please react to the others as well especially Winwin's.
Seriously, this is probably one of the best fanmade series on youtube, especially when it comes to idol dance. You can tell OP is very passionate about dance and took the time out to dissect, show examples, and explain dance and the techniques in a way that's not only understandable to a non-dancer but also makes it interesting to watch. It really shows that there is more to dance than just hard choreography and having stage presence.

The reason why she included haechans turn jump for reference was because he turn jumped but not the other members, she just mentioned the arm and leg movements to explain why the turn jump was better than the normal jump.

btw: She has said that for this first part (Haechan) she cut a lot of analysis out because she was worried it would be boring and it is shorter than the rest of her videos. In her other videos (Winwin, Yuta, TY) she actually goes into even more detail about the more technical aspects of it.
What I like about it is that she points out each member's talents and styles while not degrading the other members. Also, she is so eloquent with her words- like Winwin's video especially made me so emotional with her commentary at the end.
Again, I do like the other videos better. They just are more emotional and have more analysis. But obviously, this first one is amazing as well
This series is one of my favorite series on youtube and I love that shaky raindrop has continued to make them despite being so busy with schoolwork and how time-consuming making these videos are.
PS: She actually still a student in college. If you read the description on the video, she warns us that she is "not teacher or a pedagogue" and to take her analysis with a grain of salt. She has studied ballet for a very long time though

The cherry bomb choreo, I had that choreo for my both Chinese traditional dance and modern dance. I know that is really risky that me and my team, we help each other out to get the position to land and get up from that position. The cherry bomb shocked me because some of them seem to fall instead of land

shaikyraindrop's videos are interesting to watch. Although her last analysis for Taeyong concerning his unusual flexibility got me really concerned about him😐
If you are concerned for their overall safety in their execution of these moves i think you will enjoy and agree with the second part of her Taeyong video! She brings up his scary risky moves and how that will affect him in the long run.
I just wanted to tell you that; as a dancer it is so satisfying watching another dancer react to kpop videos because I often see things in the choreography very differently and my friends tend to stare at me like I'm insane. That's why I love your videos because you see things that I see and react the same way that I would. It just feels good to be able to relate.
I’m very worried about taeyong and his body, the other dance video (part 2 of his) it shows why. I hope he learns soon 😭

11:48 i agree. i remember seeing a clip somewhere of nct performing cherry bomb while it was raining slightly and it looked taeyong fell pretty hard on his back because he slipped and then someone else (i think jungwoo) didn't go down all the way bc of the water. if the choreographer had taught them a specific way that fit the five that go down, it would just be easier and safer overall and they wouldn't have to do learn how to do it on their own.

i think i get what you mean about a static jump in place vs a spinning jump, but i think the comparison on momentum is more about the fact that haechan utilizes his arms more. which is again understandable considering he does a different jump, but there is certainly a way to make it look lighter by distributing the energy via upper body, especially considering they have a beat to "gear up" for the jump instead of going straight into it. the way haechan jumps reminds me of a volleyball lead-up, and he always seems rather light on his feet :) (also has natural advantage of approx average height and light frame).
that aside, im glad you do these reactions to the dance videos since it offers the perspective of a different dancer and i like seeing your contrasting takes (like winwin's learning speed from his vid, which is entirely logical and yet never really came to mind for me). haechan is not the strongest 127 member but he is certainly light, fast, and flexible, and i'm glad you pointed out the last one. im not too sure about the rest of his body, but winwin/mark/haechan are the only 127 members who can do the splits as far as i know. haechan's core balances his weight pretty good as well judging by exercise challenges theyve done as well! on another more minor observation, i wouldnt say he's super consistent with it, but i do see haechan use spotting often (like mama performance intro).
i totally get your physics point, and it isnt too complicated, dont worry :) limbs out for momentum, pull them in closer to the center of rotation for speed (back to the figure skating thing since this is seen a lot!), release and land wide out again to distribute weight and maintain balance.
i agree about the shoulders being a stylistic thing (and i did see you acknowledge a comment pointing out that it was not necessarily a haechan > others situation) but i do think sometimes the use of shoulders can make others look less clean i suppose.. i mostly see it in jaehyun/johnny/mark but mark especially uses the shoulders a lot to the point where it sometimes irks me 😅 but of course it goes the other way around as well, i understand the point of efficiency and stamina but sometimes it feels like haechan's level of power/general execution suits certain moves. in multiple senses, it feels like theyre opposites. mash them together and you get a jack of all trades talented 5'9 dancer haha (but big agree on haechan being sexy LOL)
anyway sorry for putting a whole essay in your comments i just find your commentary very intriguing and i know you try to be careful with your words, but i appreciate that you get your criticisms or disagreements across to viewers nonetheless. keep it up 👍

I wish someone would analyze Renjun's dancing as well😭 I've been dying to make ppl notice that he is AWESOME at dancing and that he's way too underrated as a dancer in nct dream!!! I mean I've noticed (to my BIG pleasure) that ppl are slowly staring to recognize Renjun for his dancing in the comments under dreamies' dance practice videos but still. Personally I became obsessed over his dancing during Boom era, bc he completely stole my attention with his smoothness >< his dancing is so elegant and fancy! And he hits every. single. beat. perfectly. His posture and balance are unreal😍😍😍... the fact that they boy did ballet can definitely bee seen from him

Hi, Jeff. Just a little reminder for something that you mentioned earlier, that in Kick It move suggested by Taeyong, he was the one who's kicked by Mark. (I don't know how to say it, but you know that move). As far as I know, Taeyong won't suggest any dangerous moves to his members. Oh, and the choreographer has warned Taeyong about the danger of that move, but Taeyong insisted that he's okay. :)

In fact during training we use weights to learn the jump rotation and train it so yeah physics works. I also noticed how gently Hechan lands. Softer than the other members despite the fact he made a turn. It's kinda hard if you're not a skater or ballet dancer or athlete. And now I wanna you to react to figure skaters😂

Its a little bit tough since there are no eng sub :( and its in Japanese. But i struggled through everything and could understand from the way he visualized it, totally worth it!!

That's what I'm talking about. NCT 127 and EXO are not that synchronize when it comes to dancing because, they have different styles and techniques. And I love that. Just like Haechan and Jongin they're both more on contemporary and the others are more on extreme movements.

Hi I'm sorry if you don't take recommendations but I'd still strongly suggest you to check out B.O.Y (B Of You). It seems like you watched produce x 101 so you might know the members. Kookheon especially was complimented by the dance trainer Choi Youngjun who said Kookheon did the best job out of the trainees during the X1-ma mission. They have five songs with unique choreographies and the songs themselves are great as well. Thank you !
